"Yes, it’s right. It was a Casascius coin. But I didn’t buy it because somebody made a bigger bid (I tried to buy it on eBay 5-6yrs ago)"

I have slid Roman a message to come check out our beautiful little collectible forum!

"Hello, since you seem to like bitcoin. There is a bitcoin collectibles section where artists share and sell and trade their pieces. Most of them which are loaded with actual bitcoin, private key underneath the hologram. You should check it out! I bet if you'd make a loaded collectible, they would be all over it, we have some deep pockets in the community. Here are some examples from my collection. Greets, Tank

Hi. I wanted to buy and reface real physical Bitcoin some years ago but…

Greets Tank

Wow, now don’t leave us hanging Tank!!…. lol

I’m very interested in what he had to say about his plans for wanting to buy a physical bitcoin (my guess is a Casascius coin ) and why he decided against it. My guess would be commenting to do with Russian laws and what not, but I’m very curious to know the actual truth…please keep us posted!

I asked him for more info, awaiting response. I told him i might get him something to work on, was choicing on a copper 1hodlclub chip. Any better suggestions?

I just took another closer look and I really do think this was inspired by my painting! There is a guy with money on the ground that I had not noticed...probably depicting bankers.

Sun in the middle....frightened bankers on the right and ordinary people on the left .

While there are certainly some cool similarities, I really don’t think his idea was inspired by your painting (as absolutely awesome as that would be). This sort of ties in with other coins he’s made, and if I had to guess, his inspiration came from the Bible (or some sort of “holy book”). It just reminds me of things he’s done in the past.

But hey, I could be wrong 🤷‍♂️.  Regardless, can’t wait to get the replica in hand!

I just realized this coin is similar to my painting idea from 2019, Bitcoin Dawn.

     https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/poll-help-me-name-my-new-custom-made-bitcoin-painting-artwork-5147522

Bitcoin sun in the distance....people in the forefront.....the difference is they have medieval clothing and it looks like neolithic architectural design

Is it just me or are some people rejoicing and others cowering away? WHat do you guys think?

It would be great to see him here actually.

For $30 it would be interesting, its hardly going to be silver though?

Ah just read:

Composition:antique color is Copper-nickel alloy, gold color is brass!!!

Its actually a very nice replica.

There’s a few links going around where you can get a replica of this beautiful one of one Roman Booteen coin. I’ve seen a few pop up on eBay as well as I was sent (thanks Tweet) this link from AliExpress - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805889914157.html?spm=a2g0n.order_detail.order_detail_item.2.1a92f19cTXq3xr&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

I placed an order for one. Will see what type of quality we are dealing with when it arrives and I will post a mini review here.

Cheers all- hope everyone has a great weekend.

His coins are amazing.  I exchanged a few messages with him a couple years ago about a collaboration, but most of his work is just too great to be sold off in any meaningful numbers as you can see from this one selling for what it did.  He's the sort of coinmaker I love though.  Always innovating something new and awesome.  Definitely worth checking out his work.

Instagram is a great source for finding talented artists.  I've had a few pieces of other sorts commissioned from artists I've found on IG and I'm always impressed.  Most of them are quite friendly, responsive, and affordable as well.

I agree, instagram is probably the single best place to find coin makers and just to see what kind of cool coins that are being made out there. One of the reasons I’m so stressed out after losing access to my “physicalcryptocurrency” account  Angry  .. have worked pretty hard on that account, was a great way of introducing our hobby to the masses, constantly had people messaging me wanting to get in to the hobby etc.  Still holding out hope of getting it back but shit, been months now ( f you Zuckerberg)

Anyone by chance have any idea what this coin ended up selling for ? Man I would absolutely love having this in my collection!

Thought I would share the link to his current NFT auction.  Even though I’m not the biggest fan of “collectibles NFTs” , I wouldn’t mind owning this myself https://opensea.io/assets/0x495f947276749ce646f68ac8c248420045cb7b5e/30265776934477800554837674521949395401594816891286044581506594555575270375425

this looks great! wonder what the price will be.

You just have to make him an offer and he will accept or deny it (DM via Instagram). He is all about the ease of transaction and prefers the item to be shipped so someone that lives in Russia, he expects the buyer to make all necessary arrangements with a local contact that lives there and take the coin out of Russia from there. Obviously anyone who lives in Russia has a better chance of making a deal with this artist. I think the most he's got for one coin is 17k. Personally i'd love to see him make out with 1 full bitcoin for this beautiful piece. He is naming it "appearance" or "omen" but also the coin has yet to be completed. Check his IG for updates.

I don’t have an address in Russia but if someone can setup a way to buy this and use escrow, I’m willing to make a bid. Any Russian users here? I have not spoken Russian in years.

I had been asking Roman if he would make a Bitcoin coin in his posts for a while now. Of course he never responded to my requests. However I woke up today, logged in to Instagram and low and behold ..he did it ! If you don’t know who Roman Booteen is I highly recommend checking out his work. He is arguably the most famous coin maker on the planet. He is famous for creating specialized / highly intricate “hobo-coins”.  Just thought I’d share with you all. Now who’s going to Russia to buy this ?!  ( Keep in mind the buyer reserves all rights to copy/produce reproductions of this coin.  It would be great if the company Heads or Tales who has made all of the other reproductions ( https://hotco.co/search?type=product%2Carticle%2Cpage&q=roman+booteen ) doesn't get the opportunity to do it again ...I don't trust them for a number of reasons.  They are actually the makers/creators behind the MJB Monetary Metals Bitcoin coin design that we all know and hate lol.  FYI they also make these coins https://coldstoragecoins.com/ ).
