Power-Wise: It will power them easily.
Wire-Wise: It will run them but not overclocked.

Fact is, each S3 requires 4 PCE-I ports; 2 for the main power and 2 for overclock.

You basically only need 2 ports but going that route wouldn't allow you to overclock.

The wires, the way they made them, very shittily mind you, is that one wire will power one hash card plus its overclock.

Other fact is, those wires are unable to power both sides with one wire because they are too short to cross

I have the same wires for me SeaSonics - Except I bought mine separately...

You will need a PSU with 8 PCE-I port capability...  Good luck finding that under $250...

I recently updated from 550W to 650W because the 550's only have 2 ports but had enough power.

Those machines weren't made to be paired up, if you do, it's gonna cost you out the ass for PSU's...

Then if the PSU fails, you lose two machines...  some things to thing about, it's not like loosing a par of S1's but I don't pair up machines.

With your 1,000 Watt PSU, you'd be able to run both machines but only one overclock.

PS: If you live in Canada, Computer Valley has a whole lot better deals than Newegg.

Hope this helped  Smiley

So since there's only 3 of these would I be ok to run one overclocked using 2 cables? And the second s3 on the third?

The one you overclock I would suggest upping to 12ga wire on the main, and 14ga on the extension, but the wattage is there, so you could do it easily. Remember, 5% +/- on the wattage draw for estimates is fine until you burn up a brand new miner. Start at standard clock and if you have an amp clamp, use it. I would NOT suggest overclocking both on less than a 1200 watt though.

Also, the Rosewill is rated at 100k mtbf at 25c. but it lists the supply at 100% rating stable at 50c. E-mail them and ask them what the average lifespan is at 40c.

You don't need to plug all four PCI-E connectors into an S3 unless you intend to overclock it anyways. If you're going to overclock, this is a good supply to do it with though, 83 amps to the 12v rail.

AWG size limits your wattage, but from the pictures that looks like 14ga to the connector going down to a short run of 16 gauge. If it's not, this is the minimum you should run in any circumstance.

Sure.
This really isn´t rocket science, just try it out and feel the connector / cable temperature after an hour or two.
Warm is okay, hot is not.

You can always produce another pcie plug with an adapter (2*molex/pcie), just use two different strans of molex (and an adapter with a decently thick wire).

Sure you can run 2 overclocked S3s on them, unless you expect them to draw more than 500W 12V power  Roll Eyes

Just try it and check whether the cables are getting too warm after some hours.

~200 - 300W per PCIE plug/cable is perfectly fine on quality PSUs.

No, what you see in the pic is one cable, the box says 6 x PCI-e which is technically true due to the 3 cables having 2 connectors

Heres a pic, came with 3 of these lol.. You can see te thicker wire but after it splits to the second SLI plug the wire is thinner

it looks like the psu has 4 places to plug in cables .  why not email rosewill  asking for a third cable.  I sure you are mistaken when you said there were 3 cables with 2  plugs on one end.

you meant to tell us that there were only 2 cables with 2 plugs each.  and they shortchanged you 1 cable.   rosewill support may mail you a cable. bringing you back to the correct amount of cables needed.

I got one of these on from a slickdeals frontpage deal for 90 bucks

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182285

and it says 6x 6+2 pci-e

but in actuality its 3 cables that split into 2 PCIE connectors for each cable (albeit with a slightly thicker gauge wire, but still)

I cannot safely run 2 S3's off these right? (was planning on doing one overclocked and one stock for a total of 6 pci-e cables)

well no over clocking for sure , but you may be able to run 2 .

I may have a spare cable I could mail to you.  send me a pm I will look for it.
