However, Im worried about the affects of using the console, pertaining to security.
Example: If I want to dump my private key from the QT wallet to write it down as a hard copy. If I proceed with the command who else can view my Private Key while exposed in the console, does it leaving me unsecured? Is the private key out in the open for all to view once I initiate the command? Or can I only see it in the console, then clear the console once its written down and all is secure once again? Can someone please clarify some of my concerns?
thank you for your time, it is much appreciated
Nate
Only if your computer has been ratted, otherwise you should be just fine.
It's not like your private key will be shared with everyone on the bitcoin network / all the nodes, no. only you will be able to see it ( and anyone that is looking at your screen ofcourse).
If you really want to be sure, you could just turn off your internet connection, then dump the keys, and write them down.
Unless someone has a screenrecorder installed that records and sends everything you do on your computer to a certain server controlled by a hacker ofcourse,
