Did it pass one of the houses last time?

Represenative Justin Amash is against it and he's having a fundraiser

Cryptanalyst castrated by his government, 1952
I think the key issue is the underlying government mindset, rather than the specifics of how far the bill gets in this cycle or how nimble techies might dodge this particular thrust.

Hmmn - very strong impulse to self-censor and not post an opinion. Who needs the hassle? Yikes! Memo to self: lay off Bioshock Infinite for a while.   Smiley

IIRC, Obama went on the record saying he would veto the bill if it landed on his desk.

I'm not overly concerned yet that it may pass, but I am - for the umpteenth time - disappointed by Congress.

link? Obama has historically been a proponent of government-regulated internetz

So if HoR keeps pushing this thing into congress, and it keeps getting swatted down...

At which point do we get to fire our representatives?  They're obviously not listening Tongue
Have you considered paying them to exploit someone else?

Do any of them accept Bitcoin?  Cheesy

Good to know. Although it still has to pass through the senate I believe. I think it only barely made it through the house.

I hear what you mean, but there is no upside to CISPA.

Every cloud has a silver lining. CISPA will drive increased use of encryption.

I've been saying this for awhile.

while its a pain it wont stop piracy  they will just encrypt and split rarfiles encrypted data wont match any profiles and will cause problems if nothings allowed to get through.
privacy will take a hit but im guessing people will come up with and uses end to end encryption and have no packets open it could change the landscape of the net, but thats all i can see

...we lost? Embarrassed  Or does senate also have to approve of it?

Obama next. I wonder if they decide they don't like bitcoin will they take down all the exchanges...
Might be the best thing to happen. Force us to decentralize.

Quote
CISPA, added Pelosi, provides “overly broad liability protections and immunity to the businesses that violate our liberties,” and fails to strike a “crucial balance between security and liberty.”
Quote:
Another lawmaker, Rep. Dan Maffei (D-New York), said CISPA was necessary to protect the US against “independent groups like WikiLeaks,” adding unfounded claims that the whistleblower website is “taking very aggressive measures to hack into” US computer networks.
