MicroCenter values RTX 4090 at $700 through its trade-in program

MicroCenter is offering only $699.95 for a customer’s RTX 4090. The retailer has its own trade-in program that allows users to sell their cards back, but only if they were originally purchased at MicroCenter. One of the customers wanted to check what the trade-in evaluation is for the MSI RTX 4090 Gaming Trio model, which is an MSRP version without overclocking.

Ever since NVIDIA faced an export ban on RTX 4090 to China, the company’s flagship Ada Lovelace model has been hardly available at its MSRP of $1599. This card often pops up at NVIDIA official stores or through board partner stores, but retailers are not eager to sell these cards at MSRP.

For this reason, some retailers that also offer trade-ins for RTX 4090 will offer up to $1,500 (like Newegg), while it is relatively easy to sell the card for much more through platforms like eBay (average sell price $1,790). In this context, MicroCenter’s offer appears to be significantly below market value.

'Clarified' US sanctions do not impact Nvidia RTX 4090D 'Dragon' or H20 GPUs
The U.S. issued a 'clarification' document on the existing sanctions, which contrary to earlier reports do not impact existing sanctions-compliant GPUs shipping into China.

Update 4/42024 6:15am PT: We have been notified that the refined and 'clarified' U.S. sanctions do not impact Nvidia's existing sanctions-compliant GPUs for China, specifically the H20 and RTX 4090D.

NVIDIA’s slowest Ada Lovelace GPU finally below $280
On Newegg, you’ll discover a new deal on the GeForce RTX 4060, the non-Ti variant, which is currently the cheapest NVIDIA GPU on the market equipped with Ada architecture. For a while, the card maintained its $299 MSRP with little movement in pricing. However, the past few months have seen this SKU often priced below $290. It seems this deal has now been surpassed.

The Twin Edge OC model, actually a white edition, has now been discounted to $279.99, marking the first time it’s been sold at this price without any local offer or pick-up only requirements. In fact, a discount code isn’t even necessary; this price is available as is.

The TX 4080 FE has a much better power subsystem than the new RTX 4080 Super FE. The first one has 16 power phases versus the 13 power phases of the second card, in addition, the Jacket sawed off the power connector phase. The thermal package of both video cards is +- the same.

This should not have an extremely negative impact on the performance of the cherished card, but for overclocking it is better to choose the non-reference RTX 4080 Super.

Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti and Titan RTX Ada: Everything We Know
And make no mistake, Nvidia already has basically fully functional AD102 chips in the wild. The professional Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada Generation, for instance, has 142 of the 144 SMs turned on, plus the full 96MB of L2 cache. Except power draw is capped at a 'meager' 300W, which means the card generally won't run as fast for as long — not actually a bad approach, but we already know that with a bit more power and voltage, it's possible to get most Ada chips to run at closer to 3.0 GHz. That's effectively what we expect to see from a future RTX 4090 Ti and/or Titan RTX Ada.

The GeForce RTX 4080 Super will be the last of the RTX 40 Super line.
We see from tests that the new product is about 7% faster than the regular RTX 4080, which is not bad considering the slight increase in the number of CUDA cores. However, following the example of the RTX 4070 Ti Super, we have already seen that in games the gain may ultimately be significantly lower.
This isn't really that big of a deal considering the RTX 4080 Super will start at $1,000 versus the $1,200 the RTX 4080 was originally asking for.

As HXL, a regular leaker on X (formerly Twitter), pointed out, the iCraft version of the RTX 4070 Super has an 8-pin + 8-pin setup rather than the 16-pin (12VHPWR) power connector seen on every other RTX 4070 Super model (at least to our knowledge).

Indeed, as VideoCardz, which spotted the above tweet, made clear, the thinking was NVIDIA had made it compulsory for third-party graphics card makers to use the 16-pin connector on their RTX 4070 Super boards, and they all do. Well, save for this one apparent exception from MaxSun, of course.

New models, why?
NVIDIA is gearing up to release a new addition to its graphics card lineup, the RTX 3050 6GB, set to hit the market in the next few weeks. Unlike the original RTX 3050 with 8GB memory launched back in January 2022, this new model is to feature a reduced core count, reduced memory size, bandwidth, and power. Not something that should be carrying a similar name at all.

Equipped with 2304 CUDA cores, a spec similar to the RTX 3050 OEM version, this card goes further by reducing its memory bus to 96-bit. In contrast to 128-bit models (including said OEM card), this change results in a notable drop in memory bandwidth, plummeting from 224 GB/s to just 168 GB/s.

Nvidia RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti Are Officially Discontinued
News of the GPUs' impending demise comes not from Nvidia but from an editor with the German site HardwareLuxx, which says it's been confirmed by Nvidia. Both cards will be ushered into the dustbin of history to make way for their Super replacements, marking a surprising misstep from Nvidia. As Videocardz notes, both GPUs existed in the market for a very short period, with the 4080 lasting a bit over a year and the 4070 Ti is exactly one year old, making it one of the most short-lived GPUs we can recall.

NVIDIA is reportedly set to unveil its new RTX 40 SUPER series in January 2024, with the 4070 SUPER taking the lead as the first card to hit the market. Sources suggest that NVIDIA will showcase the new series at CES 2024 during its Special Address livestream. While board partners are expected to reveal their designs shortly thereafter, the 4070 SUPER, in particular, is projected to be available starting January 17.

Hello everyone, maybe this question is off-topic, but please tell me why social media constantly compares the 1080 Ti card with other video cards and says that 1080Ti is one of the best cards in terms of price-performance ratio.  I want to build a PC and I wonder if it is really that good. It is old, isn't it?

it is old but it is pretty good used on ebay.

A lot depends on your budget.

I have a few used ones if you want to get one.

$200 for a 1080ti vs  $225 for a 3060
In my opinion, 20-30 dollars is not much for the difference in the budget for purchasing a video card. There are few of these video cards on sale, and if you look for these video cards in good condition, then there are even fewer of them. This is a good option if your tasks require a powerful, cheap video card with 11 GB of memory.

Valued officially at $999, and unofficially much higher, the upcoming RTX 4080 SUPER Founders Edition is out for grabs, a special one signed by Jensen. Set for release on January 31, NVIDIA has started a giveaway both on social media platforms and in-person at CES 2024 for attendees.

The RTX 4080 SUPER stands as the latest high-end GPU, featuring the AD103 GPU with 10240 CUDA cores. This upgraded version succeeds its predecessor, the RTX 4080, which is now being phased out. The new SUPER GPU has faster core and memory speeds. They also have GDDR6X memory with a clock speed of 23 Gbps, which is the industry’s first card to feature this speed.

A lot of 1000 series video cards have been used in mining, and it is difficult to find a 1080 Ti video card in good condition. I would buy a used rtx 3060 video card for gaming and mining.

It will be interesting to see what demand is out there for these cards. I don’t think many people are mining alts yet but they are profitable so I would imagine it will be difficult getting your hands on one of these cards. Might have to watch Best Buy inventory and hope to get lucky. I know I’d like to grab one of these for testing in January.

Nvidia produces a mysterious new powerful professional graphics card for the Chinese market only
The latest list of drivers for Nvidia's professional graphics cards included the addition of support for an RTX 5880 Ada Generation unit. The only problem is that this exact item doesn't actually exist yet – meaning it could well be a product the firm has created specifically to sell in China.

The product's model number is incredibly close to the flagship board, designed for professional visualization, according to Tom's Hardware, and could be designed to skirt around trade restrictions the US government imposed in November.

The US blocked Nvidia from selling the latest graphics cards based on the 5nm AD102 GPU, meaning sales of the high-end Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada workstation GPU – an extremely powerful GPU – and the GeForce RTX 4090 were banned entirely.

NVIDIA to split RTX 40 launch into three dates, RTX 4070 SUPER coming first, RTX 4080 is last
ITHome have combined rumors from multiple sources which paint the picture when one should expect NVIDIA to unveil and launch the new RTX 40 SUPER series.

Rumors suggest that NVIDIA is set to unveil and reveal initial details about the upcoming GeForce RTX 40 SUPER graphics cards in a ‘Special Address’ during CES 2024 on January 8th. This speculation has circulated ever since the company confirmed its intentions to host this event. The latest information indicates that the company may introduce first SUPER cards just nine days after the announcement, with at least one SKU scheduled for release.
