I don't mean music videos where the music is the whole point of the video. I started to watch a video on Google servers, but they played music over the spoken commentary, and I found it so annoying that I quit the video. You'd think that a sales video would try to get people to listen to the message, not drive them away.

Why do people feel that they have to superimpose "music" on their YouTube video?. It is almost always intrusive, and often too loud. I have had to quit quite a few interesting clips because the music is distracting and really annoying. If you have something to say, then say it. If you are so embarrassed that you have to drown it with rubbish music, then don't bother to say it.
