IIRC when Bitcoin Core is run for first time on your computer, it will ask you to use default directory path or choose your own directory path.
All you need to do is choose directory path of your Bitcoin HDD and Bitcoin Core should recognize it.

Then just put in the location of your data directory into the bitcoin wizard and everything should return... But it may want to resync.

Or verify whole blockchain before continue sync

I'd suggest backing up the root of the directory (without subfolders) where your old version of core was used ONTO A SEPARATE DEVICE.

Then just put in the location of your data directory into the bitcoin wizard and everything should return... But it may want to resync.

I have been running a Bitcoin core node on an old macbook, storing the 300+gb on an old harddrive I had.
When I plug in the Bitcoin HDD to another Mac and try to run Bitcoin Core, it doesn't recognise that the entire blockchain is already on the HDD, and asks me for a storage location.
I no longer have the bitcoin file in the application support folder on the macbook, it got lost. Is there any way of taking advantage of what I already have downloaded? And accessing the wallet I have there?
