How to ban, cut off the Internet? Can only be said to prohibit the circulation of bitcoin in the market, but can not prohibit people to hold bitcoin. Over time, bitcoin is more and more people are recognized, this prohibition will eventually be canceled

Russia has a hard time making up its mind. Few months after banning bitcoins, the country has looked the other way and people are back to using bitcoins.
i think they have no concern with bitcoin, the Russina Finance ministry has too many other important jobs to do, i think thay will not be free for banning bitcoin and searching the users of bitcoin, i thin it is just a joke and nothing else, i think still not a sing country has banned bitcoin.

A few countries has banned bitcoin in their country and russia also has concerned in the past to ban it but all these are useless as everyone in every part of the world are using bitcoin without any restriction and no one have the control to ban it or to detect the users of bitcoin.

is there really a possibility that one country can ban bitcoin? coz i cant find a solution on how to ban bitcoin. is it by blocking ip?? hmmm. if it is, then it would be hard coz there are so many sites that are using bitcoin. the best thing to do i think is to know the location of every transaction.

It is one of the most stupid move by them. They want to deprive their citizens one of the most easiest and conviment way of transferring money but it shouldn't come as surprise for Russia has long histry of communism
Well, we have nothing to do them. Its their.government not ours. They did it for security reasons. Bitcoin is known from its anonimity which can be use by bad elements like terrorist and other things that related to it. They can use it to buy weapons. They only see flaws not the benefits of bitcoin

That maybe the case, but with the laws in Russia pending on a few different cases one thing for sure if passed 7 years prison for owning trading or exchange any kind of crypto is scary. What happens I take my phone back to Russia and police find my bitcon wallet on my phone, or my debit card that only has bitcoin.   Oh XAPO works well.   I am hopping that the proposals in place will relax and be able to carry on trading..    There many sites where you can buy mining machines Ebay or Avito,  but little harder finding a main office in the city to promote,   in case the laws change to ban it all.   lets hope its resolved and can trade buy etc in Russia for ever.

Well, this is bad news to the bitcoin owners in Russia. There are many reasons why Russia wants to ban bitcoin. Bitcoin has a anonimity features that can be use by criminals and can be also by terrorist. Also bitcoin can be use for money laundering and other corrupt activities.

I think these are just the false news spreading in the market. there is no reality about this. I think Russia government has not yet taken any action about this. not may be given any statement about bitcoin.
if these are false news then there are so many Russians why they do not refuse these false statement.i think they should reject the false news and explain the reality to the people. i think there must be some reality in these news therefore Russians are silent.
yes that is just a joke and no reality is there in this news. i think if they really want to banned bitcoin then they should take any action against these activities bu we cannot see any movement in Russia supporting these news.

Well, look at it this way: The lower the price the higher the demand.

When the price is low, it is actually good for trading because you have more people wanting to buy, as opposed to the high price.

If that ban happens, btc may go back to 400's or maybe can go even lower than 400$'s.

Bitcoin is highly being supported  by Russian people and if a ban comes from Russia it will deal a huge damage. Same thing goes for China.

One country bans bitcoin and we're again going 2 years back in price.

Of course bitcoin will recover from that, but every time something like that happens, it will go back and back.

Well, as of today Russia has legally banned bitcoins. They want monopoly of currency and stuff like that, I don't think the ban will last a decade though, cryptocurrencies are the future and they can't ignore that.

and over half of the money on alphabay and such is spent on those...

I doubt the ban will work either way. There is a larger chance though that this ban will never take place.

Take for example China, the Chinese government restricts access to bitcoin, but still China is one of the largest traders and miners of bitcoin. They also make up a good portion of this forum.

How can they Bitcoin?
i mean it's all related with internet.
so they can't ban it untill they ban internet and that's not gonna happen which i think.

They have a tool called Roskomnadzor which demands ISP's to ban sites, and they already closed a lot of Bitcoin sites. Onde day they  just might start  arresting people who got caught doing operations with BTC.

and this is based on what? you can not simply arrest one just because you hate what he is doing, or we would be all in jail right now

Based on bitcoins being illegal in Russia, stop asking ridiculous questions.

stop telling bullshit, bitcoin is not illegal in russia, it is just restricted or banned, which is different, in the sense that they would confiscate it or do a fine, if they caught you, but you're not going to jail

What if they made a alt coin that was of equal value of the ruble and was created by a Russian? Then would they use that instead of attacking bitcoin? That would be an interesting scenario indeed.

Gotta love Russian legislation. Bitcoin was illegal in Russia in 2014. Not banning Bitcoin companies but total bitcoin usage under Russian federal law.
Then they abolished that law in 2015 because it was actually not working as people would still use Bitcoin. And now they want to ban it again? Logic.

Really, it's like banning impure thoughts.  Not exactly, but both are kind of hard to enforce--but hopefully for the Russkies it won't come to that.  We need them and China to keep this sucker pumped up like a hard on.

Old story, I remember talking about that here. It seems that Russians was serious about that when their minister spoke about it. They mention 4 years prison if I remember good.
If duma vote for this proposal I think Russian government will be first to ban bitcoins. I see Russians here, on poker, casinos, dices.. what they plan to do? I don't like this news, this is not good thing for bitcoin and for sure people there can have problem with that. To go to prison is not a little thing.
I guess we will need to wait duma to say their opinion. If this proposal enter duma at all, I hope not.

Is someone keeps his coins in online wallet like blockchain.info and dont convert it to ruble, how will he be caught?

I don't know, probably wouldn't. But I'm sure that they will arrest some random guy soon, who just used an exchanger or smth, then make a very public process with a lot of attention from press, just to make an example and scare their population.

They do not get on with the ban because they do not fully understand what they are banning and do not want to limit something they may potentially use in the future. Think this is why so many Countries say these things but stand their with their thumbs up their ass.

"Central Bank of Russia summer will present projects based on Blockchain"
http://bits.media/news/tsb-rf-letom-predstavit-proekty-na-osnove-blokcheyna/

First, they want to ban cryptocurrency, fearing that the banking system will be destroyed, and then say that they will make their fork, state-controlled.
The key word here CONTROLLED.

I dont see any problem if the want their own cryptocurruncy unless they ban bitcoin.I guess more cryptos will bring healthy competition and attract more people to bitcoin

Shit, did I leave the stove on?
I am strongly against banning Bitcoin in any country because we are living in a free world and there shouldn't be a restriction on what we would like to do with our money. Why couldn't Russia just legalize Bitcoin is beyond me. They will still have control over what their citizens would do with Bitcoin and pay taxes on the exchanges.

I really do not understand why Russia likes to distant itself from the rest of the world. Russia is about the only country that wants to ban btc, why?

It's a basic thing...
Their government does not want this to be used by criminals as Russia is a country full of crime, and these government people won't be able to trace them, but to me, their government seems to be involved themselves with these criminals...
Basically, they just don't want people like us to live freely as we would hide our finances from them with this...

It's very simple to explain.
Here in Russia, in the incredible imbeciles sitting government. For the most part, they take their places because they are friends \ relatives of someone from the authorities, and not because they have achieved something in their fields.

Cryptocurrency, its creation, system principle, they just do not understand. But most importantly, in my opinion, they can not steal the money (interest) from the transaction, as in conventional money transfer.
Another reason. They want to control everything! But cryptocurrency they can not control, and they because very rage.
