This will be something very small and wouldn't make a global affect on the world, they can try and that is always great for crypto since the more attention it gets the higher the price will be but just because Russia will test this out doesn't mean it will become something huge in the end.

We have Malta and panama which support crypto gambling heavily yet its not a global thing yet, why would having a Russian island for the exchange be any different than them?

Well a blockchain/crypto island may not work very well if it's not global or if restricted within one or few countries. There is no point building a blockchain island with this restrictions. Fiat could aswell be used for this even with better results.

I'm still doubtful that this will happen within this year or the next few years. What I know with RUssia they are very strict when it comes to crypto although there are transactions being held on that country. The idea is good and it's very encouraging for the Russians to get involved with crypto's if they are developing a business center like this.

A crypto heaven island in Russia seems interesting. But for the confidence of the investors, visitors and residents, it should have complete autonomy from Russia and Russian legal system. At least similar to what Cayman island is to England. An experimental crypto paradise is alluring but many of the powerful people in this world won't let it happen.

It is good that more and more countries want to encourage crypto businesses in their countries now but i remember last year the president of Russia was not saying good things about crypto i hope his mind and thoughts would also be changed by now about crypto and blockchain.

Leonid Petukhov can say anything, but this is an empty phrase until there is a law in Russia that regulates the circulation of cryptocurrencies. Its adoption is constantly delayed and is not a priority issue for legislators.

That means more adoption will come consider he stated to create an island that used fully crypto as its payment system and i guess if that can be considered as an experiment to see is it worth to use crypto as our daily payment system.
Im feeling curious about the result of that project. But it's much better when you can also mention the source of that news too.
