1070 is more profit per day definitely but more expensive.

I have bunch of RX480 rigs and even RX570..  GTX1070 will blow them per card for profit.  GTX 1070 is better with equihash, Neoscrypt, Lararev2...

Doubt GTX 1070 would do same amount as a RX 570 with bios mod mining Monero. Ethereum will only do about 1 Mhs more per card and that is not guaranteed, dual mine will do the same, the only algorithm where GTX 1070 is better is the Equihash algorithm and will surpass every RX 5xx series. The price is much more expensive for 1070 cards so better to do a bios modification and spend way less for the same performance unless you want to explicitly mine only Zcash.

Not just equihash.  Neoscrypt, LyraREv2, Blake, LBRY, Groestl, X11, Pascal, Skunkhash

1070 can surpass bios modded RX480, RX570 in ethash and neck and neck with Cryptonight.

I have 1070 here and bios modded Rx570..  1070 is more robust card for mining.

With GTX you can mine more algo's.
It is pricier, but that is my pick.

I have 2 Rigs with Rx 470 and Ive been mining Ether and Monero since early 2017 and its been profitable beyond belief. I chose the Rx470 specifically because I wanted to mine only Ether and Monero and you'll definitely get more out of your dollar with it. Take it from me, just visit www.whattomine.com and you'll see the different coins you can mine and GPU you decide to use. Again, this is my own opinion but I usually get 24Mh/s with ether and 500h/s with Monero.  Happy Mining! Also, look at your local power company and see how much they charge per K/W. My electric bill shot up almost 160% after I started mining. So yea, RX 470 hands down and MONERO.

I have a GTX 1050 and "free" electricity. Any coin suggestion that is more profitable and a step by step guide to set up?
Thanks.

You can do with both. But RX 470 would be cheaper. If you want to invest a big amount, I suggest you go for GTX 1070.

Forget it  Cheesy. It's just momentum income extrapolated to whole month

The RX 470 depends on what version, it works well in dual mining after you modify its bios, it can run the 8 GB card mining edition in 28.4mhsh ethereum plus about 600-800mhsh decreed in dual mining. The cost of this card is cheaper, otherwise the 1070 would perform almost the same at 29 mhsh plus about 900mhsh decreed. The problem is 1070 would consume a lot more energy as you cannot undervolt it, if you put the power limit down to 70% which is the sweet spot hashrate goes down. While on RX 470 if you mod your bios correctly you consume less energy and have a good hashrate too.

Personally I am for the RX 470 8GB version ,preferably the mining edition version from MSI or ASUS, Sapphire Nitro+ not a mining edition is a good card too. This is a generic question though and each one of us has his own preferences, someone else may like more the GTX 1070.
thanks

what about BTG mining ?
based on calculators it mining about 180$/ month
