Never trust the bullshit watt that can be displayed
RX 580 reported @70W ?
Vega @100W ?

Nope !!! From experience and Wattmeter to the wall
RX 580 ~100-110W
Vega ~140-145W
True, the results I got from my rx580 and a old Vega 56 card of mine was even higher than yours, I used wattmeter to measure the power consumption for each cards

RX580 ~ 120w from wall
Vega 56 ~ 150W from wall.

I believe that silicon lottery also have it's part to play.

NONE of the Vega 56 BIOS from Tech Power Up with the same ID strings will operate on the Sapphire Vega 64 reference cards I have . They will install but the miner application will stall and fail to run. This is the case with LOL or NB, same result. Revert to the original 64 BIOS and they come up and run. I have about 6 different BIOS files, and one that was given by a real supposed PRO. None of them will run at all, so this is yet another case of people claiming results which do not apply across the board as is the case with Polaris cards as well.
If anyone has a 56 BIOS that will actually install and run these cards at the 51-54 MH, I would be very grateful to try it, but something is off with these cards for whatever reason. They were also factory refurbished, and the stock BIOS downloaded off them was odd in that it seems to be a Powercolor BIOS on sapphire cards. Very strange.

What? My RX580 8gb is pulling 89 - 90 watts and that's a fact, I mean it's measured and correct, all I did was lower core voltage like some advice and it works, maybe you should try that too to see for yourself

Did you turn off rig :

1)remove the card  from the rig use your cpu's integrated gpu and get a k-watt meter reading at the plug?
2) add the card to rig set it up mining use your cpu's integrated gpu and get a k-watt meter reading at the plug?

did one reading say 200 watts or what ever
second reading say 290 watts or what ever

above is proper way to know what your card does mining

and of course check hash rate at the pool not the gui as the pool is the one that pays the money.

This....

If you didnt do this..you are reading from the miner screen and its well documented that amd doesnt report anything but power to the gpus asic.  Nvidia is better but nothing is as good as the run it measure with actual dvm (or analog if you old school) and then put it back in and measure again.  Simple subtraction nets the actual power draw.  Lack of this is what leads to burnt wires and overloaded psus.

Hi, I've been hearing about this timing thing on AMD graphic cards, can it work on RX580 or you have better settings for a RX580 gpu? I would like to see how far timing settings can work on RX580 graphic card, I will wait for a reply
RX580 mem timing are already modified. That's why we have to mod them so they can reach 30+ MH/s

When I had 580 with bios mod, I run them core 1200 MHz @ 850-860mV and mem 2200 MHz @ 800mV  + REF 30 in HiveOS
They give me 32.00 MH/s with TRM 0.8.0

I love my vegas....and the only thing better is the radeon vii....HBM is why these older cards kick so much arse.  You can keep your gddr memory..

vegas 50+mhs
vii 100+mhs

Took a while for folks to unlock the power but its there.  I paid $200 each for my used a couple years ago.
Vii were $699 msrp....even todays superstar cards cant touch that hash/$ in card cost.

No BIOS mod needed.
Just timing modification with amdmemtweak

In my case, I'm trying to get 50.xx MH/s for the lower watts
Whole rig is at 1145W at wall (~140W per card in average)
(but I can reach 51-52 on Vega 56 if I don't care about watts)

My settings
amdmemtweak --gpu 0,3,6 --ras 26 --rcdrd 13 --rcdwr 12 --rc 38 --rp 12 --rrds 3 --rrdl 5 --rtp 6 --faw 12 -- cwl 8 --wtrs 4 --wtrl 9 --wr 13 --ref 24000 --rfc 239

I thought you are using modded bios. So, please help me with tweakings I use just MSI Afterburner to lower power for GPU and rise memory clocks, 965MHz is rock stable for that Gigabyte, thanks!

You should be able to use the AMDmemory tweak to set the timings in windows.  There is a thread only about the utility in this forum.

As for timings happy to share what works for one of mine....every one is a little different but none of my vegas are same batch/model/memory...etc...they are all mutts Smiley

RX Vega 56 and 64 have been around for a long time now, are there people still building rigs with these graphic cards? Since they are now old AMD cards I expect them to be cheaper right now, also are they still Profitable for a certain algorithm?
50mhs with vega at around 120watts. i love them. only reason i swapping to nvidia is vega is good at eth and not much else

How can I do that? From where I can download moded bios?

Tried on google but mods for gaming not for ETH, I found...

Thank you!
i dont mod vegas. all is AMD.Memory.Tweak.XL tool and right settings

I didnt mod any of my vegas bios...just some software applied timings Smiley.

As for bios...TechPowerUp is the place to get a bios.

Flash it to its original 56 bios.  Even Vega 64's work better with the 56 bios.  Same hash less power / heat.

core 1090 / mem 1020  / v0.835 is one of my cards settings.

Note every card is different you must move those around slightly especially memory and see what each card likes.  Mine generally run for days without doing a reboot.
Timings for your card are what really helps and TeamRedMiner.  It varies by individual card.  But once you find your cards sweet spot...it mines.   Power will be 130w or under when done rights...then how low you can go and stable...well lottery again.  Some mod the bios to squeeze even more from it...i just use the timings applied on the fly.

In Russia, the seller asks for $ 540 for a used Vega 56 video card produced in 2017.
This is the first problem. And the second problem is that these video cards were bought mainly by miners.
Gamers passed by these graphics cards.
Therefore, I prefer not to buy these graphics cards.
No no no, don't get it wrong, you can do research on your own using google, RX vega 56 is indeed very good for mining Ethereum, it can produce up to 52megahash per second, presently you can get one at 460$ on ebay, I believe that's still a fair price, it's not about been old or not, it's about profit making
I think you've mistaken RX5700XT with Vega 56 mining hashrate, only RX5700XT can do 54megahash and VEGa 56 can only do 32-34 megahash, check your calculator once again, Vega 56 isn't that good for Ethereum but better with Monero, the image below is for RX vega 56

Maybe you are confused.

Vega 56 gets 50~60mhs.....all day long.

Got several running in the range and mmpOS has a bunch of people running them at those speeds.  And vii's that do 100mhs....never underestimate the HBM!

Gamers are still using vega 56 for gaming, it hasn't passed by gamers like you said, that card will play any demanding games till date at 1080p with no problem, in my country people are still gaming with RX580 graphic card too
In 2017, when the boom in demand for video cards for mining began, gamers could not purchase them.
In 1 month All video cards that could mine Ethereum disappeared from the store shelves. These video cards were cheaply sold in the secondary market in 2019,
perhaps then they were bought by gamers.

3 years ago Vega 56 cost 450-500 dollars.
If I remember correctly, then it was often used for mining Monero, because the video card initially mined Ethereum poorly.
It's probably better to pay a few hundred dollars in addition and buy a more modern video card.

Rx vega 56 is better than the 64 I believe, the problem is getting those cards for cheap price, not even now that gpu price have skyrocket on online stores, also it's better to consider rx5700xt cos the price isn't far from each other I believe, RX5700XT will be a good buy, that's of cos if you can't find the Vega 56 at cheap price

My Vega 56s kicks ass! They are really nice, all doing 50+ MH/s @ ETH. I love them actually! Smiley

Before Ethereum I mined Vertcoin very well on them, and before that they were a beast at Monero! Not to forgotten Electroneum, but that's another story Tongue

You've missed the buying opportunity period, now is not a good time to buy any graphics card, even old graphic cards that aren't good for mining have increase in price, you have to wait for find ways to get MSRP price which I'm sure that you can't.

220$ i paid for vega 64 yesterday, so cheap in my country and rx5700 still higher price, its prety decent for 220$ card doing 50mhs

other new gpu still expensive and more likely crowded by gamer & miner, at this bullrun make even worse for get decent price

AMD Vega cards are only good if you have free electricity and of cos get at cheaper rate, there are many other options that are far better than Vega 56 and 64 at the same price, it's good that this card still gives 50-53MH but for the money? No! Why not RX5700 or even go lower with RX580? Two RX580 will give 60-64MH per sec
The price means a lot. Vega is more energy efficient then RX580, buy mostly costs more per MH. New GPUs have better energy efficient but their cost is to high as for me.
For free electricity the best choice is RX580 surely.

If you have low-cost electricity, you can buy these graphics cards. But the price for them is already very high and they have been in mining for a long time.
I agree with the opinion that it is better to look for new video cards

Vega 56 and 64 aren't worth buying right now because of their price, I expected this cards to be under 300$ but I'm surprised you can get one with the exact amount you can get a RX5700, instead of buying Vega it's better to buy RX5700, it's more future proof

About a year before it cost was about $200. For such a price it were the best GPUs. Right now you can get used Vega for $350-$450. This is not a good deal for GPU, that mined several years.
I'm guessing that mining is the main reason why this card is still very costly till date, every single gpus that got released for affordable prices turned to x2 of the price, even gamers have a hard time building a gaming PC because of overpriced graphic cards, it's not so good to buy a brand new GPU for mining right now unless you get discount price or you buy used GPUs

Vega 56 and 64 are still ass kicking till today, they draw same power as RX580 GPU, roughly a bit over 100-130 watts and with over 50MH per second makes it very good choice, will be better if you can get them at used or under 400$ price, you will be on your way to ROI on no time.

vega56 or vega64 flashed to 56 can do 51.8mhs with 104watt (driver shown) or 55mhs with 114watt. In fact it will take more juice of course but that makes it rather good even today

The lowest RX Vega 56 for sale online is around 400$ and it's used, graphic cards are very expensive right now and this RX Vega isn't that Profitable compared to other cards at the same price range of 400$, a gtx1660 super is more profitable than a RX Vega 56

No gpus are cheaper right now.

I have a few are good cards but getting older.  For eth you want to flahs the 64s with 56 bios (less power same hash).
Thr will do about 50mhs on eth currently.

I would go with 5700xt over vega today if buying.  They are about the same as a used vega on ebay but new.
