And what do you think about the BitFury 16mn chip? It will be for small customers or only for large mines? Or is only smoke and they have nothing yet?

They announced tapeout - but on a node that's as new as 16nm it'll be months before they get in into production, potentially a year - and even then they'll only be selling it to industrial customers and PERHAPS in that crazy light bulb concept they've demonstrated.

I think they will do the lightbulb they made a decent deal out of it.   It gives them something to show off and bring to trade shows or potential customers.

Only thing I see that might stop it is bitmain router.  I see these two kinda in same fun gimmick miner segment.

This is a very good reason to do that... Now you are earning without paying... ¡¡125 S5!! what a good reason...  Roll Eyes

It is not quite so. Yesterday I made the calculations.
Over the past two months I've been selling my old miners over 100 BTC and all this BTC are  going to Hashnest S5 miners.

But I bought all my S7 for "real money", because I believe that BTC will rise this time , as the S7 will shipping.
Then again, Bitmain   increases the S7 price, and I've already won.

Hashnest have the S5 more expensive due to need to install a PSU with the miner. Also, in Hasnest you do not control the buying price, it can drop suddenly. It is a good deal in the long time (+-240 days to roi). Nice, but not enjoying  Grin

I hate the € 3,500 on electricity bills. Therefore, it is my choice Hashnest.

125x S5 today

The great thing for those of us who bought the S5+ is we now have in most cases 3 of the bitmain 240 PSU's.   I personally like getting PSU's as I use them for multiple generations of miners.

But yes it is not cheap in this case for the PSU's.

I use for S5+  2 x APW3-12-1600-B2 and 1x Corsair RM850

I hope more from S5 as the S7

Antminer S5 in Hashnest
shop price Price: 367.0 USD(1.6032726฿)  Stock: 640

I buy last 5 x S5 from 1.4322 BTC of a piece (by buying from the market, not from the store)

S7  with 20% VAT  cost me  9.29 BTC of a piece. (If I would buy three pieces)

 S7 Specifications:

1. Ideal Hash Rate: 4.86 TH/s

9.29 BTC :4.86 TH/s = 0.00191155 BTC

S7=0.00191155 BTC from GH/s for me  (Does not account for power supplies)

S5=0.00124  BTC from GH/s  buying from Hashnest market

the difference is 0.00067155 BTC from GH/s   x S7 4860 GH/s =3.263733 BTC are each S7 expensive as hashnest "S5" with same hashrate 4860GH/s

How much does it take time, to S7 earns  3.264 BTC ?
I can  Purchase  from this 2362 GH/s  S5 hash more in hashnest. It already makes things more equal.

I have a question for anyone who can answer this...

I see that Bitmain is about start shipping the S7.  It is saying selling for almost 2k and it says that it does 4860 GH/s.  Granted, it is twice as energy efficient as the S5, but is it really worth the price consider that the S5 is 1/4th the price?  What do you think?  How can you justify the price?  Thanks.

I will say i still feel good about my S5+ purchase.  I wanted to use my 240... it gave me that.   I wanted to condense gear it gave me that.

I sold my S4's, my C1, and part C1.   So I view it as kinda upgrading my older gear for winter.  And my older gear I'm sure went to lower priced electricity places so works out good.     I have had no issues and love my S5+.

Now the S7 i do love it's efficiency BM did master the 28 nm no doubt.   If it's worth it..... only way to know is if we start seeing them ROI.  That is honestly only way to know.  Will it do it.... we will see.

Edit:  On BitMain website I was confusing the price of the old S5 for S5+  Now I understand.  Thanks.
