There are indeed; however, when this thread was started, the S7 was nothing more than rumors.  Try here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/antminer-s7-is-available-at-bitmaintechcom-with-486ths-025jgh-1165628 for the hardware thread.

There is no release date yet for the s7, but I would wait to pull the trigger anyway.  I think your best bet, depending on your electricity cost, is to look into undervolt s3.  That might be better than s5, but if your electricity is not too expensive then maybe the s5 is better.  best of luck, I hope oyu make some money Wink

S5's are costly wait for an s7

or buy an s-3 and solo mine with it on ck's pool

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/yh-solockpoolorg-1-fee-solo-mining-usade-251-blocks-solved-763510

you can run ⅔  of an s-3 on regular pools and ⅓ on the solo pool

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11554601

I argue to do this because an s-3 is under 100 usd and an s-5 is almost 400

neither one should make a profit unless your power is under 5 cents a kwatt.
With one you are out 400 with the other you are out 100.

Thanks for your reply.

Would the S5 not be better value than the S3? Yes it's 4 times cheaper, but it's also 4 times less powerful etc.
Interesting idea with the solo/regular pools. I'll probably do something like that.

Regarding profit, I worked out that running an S5 at $0.08 - $0.10 / kWh would be easily profitable...

Also, does anyone know anything about the S7? If it's something that could end up costing $1000+ I probably wouldn't be interested.

Do as you please.  But I will tell you buying the s-5 will lose money if the s-7  comes out in 1 month.

Now if the s-7 does not come out maybe the s-5 can make a profit at 8 cents an hour.

below is an s-5 at 8 cents an kwatt

2% diff jumps  it make under 20 bucks. in 481 days.  and I left out the blocks cutting in half from 25 to 12.5

Hi Folks,

I'm thinking of shelling out for an S5, but knowing that the S7 will be announced/released next month makes me hesitant..

Would it be sensible to wait, knowing that the S7 could be a more attractive buy, or maybe the S5 could very likely drop in price...

Then again, it might take months before S7's are shipped, and they might also cost multiple's of the current S5 etc. and therefore it would be best to just get an S5 now..

Appreciate any thoughts!
