Nice should easily be able to run this off a 1300w PSU too.

Yes I am pulling 4.5 amps at 240 volts at the pdu meter.

So 1080 ac watts for an evga 1300 g2 is workable.

Error rate is almost perfect.

Good work Phil

thanks I did a lot of downclock tests on the s-7 and this gear gets pretty quiet compared to the s-7.

I had to move the s-7 to freq 400 from 575 stock.  When I did that hash dropped to about 4000 power used was about 1000 watts. I could do 38% fan .  Maybe a touch louder then this is.

So I moved this down from freq 600 to 462 and the fans are at 35%.

So you keep a higher rate of hash on this batch 4 then I did with the batch 2 s-7.

And a lower fan % then on the batch 2 s-7.

Makes the s-9 good for a free power guy. That needs a relatively quiet machine.

I can not to buy a batch 5 as I wonder if it is able to down clock as well.

I could really get on board with this idea.

to go a bit further on my testing I now dropped  to fan 35%  freq 462

I did move it to freq 479  fans at 40%

it is a bit power hungry  4.8 amps at 240 volts = 1152 watts ac at the pdu

1152/10,312 =  0.1117  ac  watts at pdu     which = 0.1034  dc watts at the psu/s-9 based on my psu's rating of 92.6%

but the sound level is decent for an attached garage type op.

64db at the 1 meter

50db at the garage door entrance

39-40 db at my couch in my ht den

lastly the temp indoors is 83 f  the out door temp is 80 f

So how's fan noise at 40%?

okay  just got it at 40%  and it is a lot better then 50% setting in the screen shot above.

I moved freq to 487. I may need freq 481 or 475.

I will get sound meter in a few. but it seems way better then 50%

and it is
 69db vs 64db at a meter
 54db vs 50db at the garage-den door
44db vs 39db at my couch in the ht

I am a bit too hot at freq 487 fans 40%

see below
  nice power at the pdu.

4.8 amps x 240 volts = 1152 watts at the wall

I would definitely be interested in a low noise S9 and I really hope they do make one soon.

it is almost okay with clock at 525 and fans at 50%
I am going to test fans at 40% I know freq will need to drop.

I wouldn't be looking for a lower power, lower noise, two-blade S9 anytime soon. Bitmain seems to have no difficulty in selling all the S9's they can make at their current price, power, and noise. Why produce something cheaper while they are routinely "out of stock" on their premium product?

BMT could easily add a 10% premium per hashing board for an S9-LN and they would still sell out just as quickly even if they did not include the PSU.
