The Nov17 firmware fixes this problem. Temperature calibration is much better too.

This firmware queries the PIC on each hash board to determine if it is fixed frequency or auto. I am running two auto and one fixed in a miner which works perfectly.

SAME EXACT SITUATION ON a brand NEW T9+ and only hashing at 70% capacity.

Have asked Bitmain for support but nothing yet!

My s9 is not reporting temp(chip1), but temp(chip2) is okay. I have installed the upgrade firmware to antminer-S9-all-201702272206-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz twice trying to fix the problem. The upgrade firmware s9_fix_upgrade.tar.gz and this will not load. I am running on the S9_12.0T submodel. I don't know if this submodel is fixed frequency or if I should try uploading a fixed frequency firmware update--I don't know if this is a fixed frequency unit. I would sincerely appreciate any help with this.

this is normal according to "bitmain" rep !

also many miners mention as well ---    no stress unless hashing seems off or numbers seem high

Same issue with my brand new S9. Any updates? Huh
All Chip1 temps are '-'
All Chip2 temps are normal.

Hashing fine, so don't really wan to mess with firmware.
