I believe the S9 has a single PCB temp sensor which is TMP451, it seems like it's slightly hidden under the heatsinks, you could probably still see it without taking the heatsink off, according to a post in one of the Russian mining forums, pezhvak identified the temp sensor location in this post.

Hey guys, do you have any idea where is located the temperature sensor (NCT218MTR2G, TPM431, TPM451 and the like) on the S9-S9i boards?
Just playing with the microscope but can't find them on the uncovered areas of the board. Are these hidden under the heatsinks?
