Hi

I have successfully transferred some funds to an address generated by bit address.org.

I used this first but i presume it is exactly the same process.

The funds have been received and are visible on block chain.

2 more questions if you dont mind.

1. If i look at the address through blockchain is it no longer 'cold'?

2. How do i go about withdrawing funds with just the public and private key?

THanks

So if i disconnect and keep generating the addresses they are never online.

If i send ltc to that address they are there?

How would i go about checking that they are there? I would like to try this with small amounts first to be sure.

that is a possibility, however if you run the client offline, then there is absolutely no chance.

I'd really truly doubt that the creator would store the keys though.

Just been stung by instawallet. Don't want anything to happen to my litecoins too.

How do I make sure it is offline?

you yank out your ethernet cable.

I'm 99,99% confident the Bitaddress and Liteaddress generators are legit. The Javascript's open source, and the programming geniuses among us (of whom I am not one) have not pointed out anything questionable in these sites, TTBOMK.

Is it not possible that every private address being generated is being stored and could be compromised later?

the second post in this thread explained that.
go to liteaddress.org and click on Single Wallet and Generate a few times until you're happy. Then write it down.
OR click on Paper Wallet and use your printer.

the beauty of a Paper wallet is that all you need is a piece of paper. Write down your private key on a piece of paper and lock it in your safety deposit box or what have you.

That's what I want. How do I get the private key.

I have a mac

I just did it yesterday! Smiley

Download the liteaddress.org Javascript page and save it on a USB stick and plug that into an offline computer. Bob's your uncle.

Hi

I have recently got some litecoins and need to know if there are ways to store them in paper wallets like btc.

I have recently been stung by the instawallet scandal and want to make sure my litecoin investment is safe in the physical world and off the net.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks
