Since the lockdown in Saigon has been extended for another 2 weeks ( https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Coronavirus/Vietnam-extends-Ho-Chi-Minh-City-lockdown-as-COVID-rages ), so have been the relief efforts supported by the community.

If you are looking to contribute a few Sats, all available donation options are listed here (Onchain or Lightning both enabled):

I don't mean to offend you but can any Bitcointalk member from the Vietnamese community vouch for the authenticity of this? I'm not doubting the situation there since I also read an article earlier. I just want to make sure that my donation will reach the intended beneficiary which is Baba's Kitchen.

That's fair enough - there's indeed (as always) people who look to take advantage of a desperate situation, so proper due diligence is certainly warranted.

That said, if it helps in terms of DD:

Receipts/updates are all regularly posted on the Twitter account of the Community:

...and you can directly check-in with Robin of Baba's that funds end up indeed with him:

No offense taken - better to make sure your Sats end up at the right place.  Smiley

Graphic Design & Translation - BTC accepted here!
this must be a legit call if it comes from bitcoin vietnam, the true pioneer company based in saigon.
baba's kitchen always served great food and hosted many bitcoin meetups, so it is well known in the bitcoin community of saigon.

i can vouch for both companies, they are real people living and working in saigon who know best what is needed in the current situation.

if you support their efforts you would send your satoshis to the right people.

best of luck / stay strong vietnam!

It seems that the charity is legit.  Smiley

Bitcoin Vietnam is a trusted company in Vietnam and they tweeted about Baba's Kitchen charity there

They are Vietnam's oldest Bitcoin Exchange service operating in the country since 2014

We are in discussion in the Vietnamese local thread
Thank you for confirming, doing my due diligence when I get my bitcoin, I have spent a lot of them in the past few days to do some reinvesting. Didn't know that Vietnam was hit real hard because I don't see them in the news and most of the time, they're part of countries that had a good response to the pandemic.

As some of you might be aware, Vietnam has been hit tremendously hard economically from various lockdown measures this year.

Effectively most business had to stop operating since May/June or were only allowed to keep producing at very limited scale.

https://e.vnexpress.net/news/business/data-speaks/pandemic-impacts-survey-finds-62-percent-losing-jobs-4349806.html

At the height of the lockdown measures military was deployed in the streets of Saigon - and leaving the house even for the purpose of obtaining food was not allowed any longer for a full 2 weeks.

Many poorer families in precarious work situation have exhausted their savings by now and the help provided by government-sponsored handouts is not sufficient in many places.

Over the past week's Robin and his team of Baba's Kitchen have been serving the most vulnerable inhabitants of the city with tens of thousands of meals; all financed out of their own pocket or via donations from the community.

The local Bitcoin Community in Saigon, which has been regularly holding their meetups at Baba's before the lockdowns is currently organizing a fundraiser to support the efforts by Robin and his team - so far over 5,500 meals have been sponsored by Bitcoiners near & far.

If you would like to contribute to the relief efforts by the community in Saigon - you can do so here:

(Lightning possible!)

All funds donated for the length of the lockdowns will be utilized to support the ongoing efforts of Robin & his team.
