During an interview with Joe Madison on Sirius XM’s “The Black Eagle,” Madison asked Sanders, “If elected President of the United States, would you apologize for slavery?”
Sanders replied, “You know, obviously, nobody in this generation is involved in slavery. But as a nation, slavery is one of the abominations that our country has experienced. There is no excuse. What can we say about it? It was horrific, it killed millions of people who never made it even across the ocean, and it destroyed just the lives of so many people.”
“So as a nation – and I don’t think as a president, but as a nation – we have got to apologize for slavery, of course,” he continued.
Madison then pressured Sanders to respond directly to whether he would apologize for slavery as president by asking, “So is that a yes or a no?”
Sanders said, “Well, it’s a… I mean… I’m not exactly sure what it means. As a nation, we have got to apologize for slavery, and of course, the president is the leader of the nation.”
Sanders’ statements on slavery come after a Fox News poll revealed the candidate is not popular among black Democrats. Only 5 percent of black Democrats stated they would like to see Sanders as the Democratic presidential nominee, compared to 68 percent for Hillary Clinton.

And if we apologize for having slaves, then shouldn't the people who sold them to us also apologize?
Benghazi? Old news.

Does Bernie Sanders exlude blacks from "american nation" or are blacks also supposed to apologize to themselves for slavery? Textbook populism of fighting past battles.
