I've been having trouble with my new Saphire 7950, the hashrate wouldn't go near where my Club3D 7950 was going. Besides that, any overclock beyond 1250 on the memory would get it to hang and be declared sick.

It turns out that the memory on (some of) these cards is not well calibrated. You can read about this in Litecointalk, topic 12369.0

As I couldn't find a moded 7950 bios, what I did was flash the bios with a moded 7970 bios, you can find it on techpowerup. Make sure the memory types are the same. Also back-up your old bios. Now they hash evenly. Card ran pretty hot, so made an effort to undervolt in Linux.

Undervolting was done using VBE7 through wine on Linux. Finally got that to work as well. 2 cards now run at 1150 hash/s pulling 530 watt.

Like I said, use at your own risk, but it's worth giving a thought before returning your Saphire card.

Cheers.
