Those who stayed in or used Gox took on the risk rewards that was there...if you were not following events then that s you time allocation opportunity cost.

Why would satoshi involve himself in anyway.

It would just set a bad precedent that bit coin needs "saving"

Bitcoin is fine, exchanges not so much

Distributed type 1 exchanges are on their way see nxt etc.

That will solve that part of the problem.

then the fiat i/o issues will be solved

then game over.

I missed the news, MtGox did what?
700,000 btc what?
Real or rumor.....what is up?

Apparently Mark had lost keys to the cold wallet worth over 700,000 BTC.

This is just a rumor, correct?

I just caught up on the news, WOW!

What if Mt Gox proved that their cold storage(with 700k+ coins) was real and could not be recovered at all? What if Satoshi came down from the heavens and used his large reserve of bitcoins to help repay most of the bitcoins lost by Mt Gox?

btw: satoshi's bitcoin holdings is between 700 k and 1 million Bitcoins ironic ? I think NOT!

The "Bitcoin Discussion"  section of the forum is not the right place to post wish fulfillment fantasies about Mt Gox.
I'm more interested in discussion about Satoshi. What could his role be in saving bitcoin?

Bitcoin doesn't need to be saved.  Gox fucked up due to bad management.
The demise of a bitcoin exchange will not affect bitcoin more than the demise of a bank would affect USD/EUR.
And the good thing here is that there is nobody on the planet who can magically start making bitcoins to bail out the troubled exchange.
Maybe there is a person who has enough bitcoins and wants to buy/bail out Gox but err.....NOPE.
A collective, maybe...
