Personal opinion: let's keep stuff simple. There are already dozens of thousands of coins out there and it's already confusing for so many people. By adding a new symbol to Bitcoin, we're gonna make things even more difficult and confusing..

I think we should simply use the word itself and "sats" as the short form of the word, but no different symbol. We need to make things simpler than they already are, not harder!

Because with most of the fiat currencies, the sub-units have separate logos...

Are you sure about that? I believe "a few" is much closer to the truth than "the most"Wink

Mistakenly I voted for the last option (no logo needed). But now I think that it will be good to have a logo. Because with most of the fiat currencies, the sub-units have separate logos. For example, the US Dollar has both $ and ¢. Similarly for the Pound Sterling, separate symbols (logos) exist for both Pound and its subunit (penny). So it will be good to have similar symbols for Satoshi as well. But I don't like the options that are listed. IMO, the symbol should only have one letter. So a variation of "s" will be better instead of "sat".

I applaud your attempt but the logos are too plain (simply types "Sat") and too long (3 characters).
It is best if you work on a better design and try to come up with only 1 character logo instead of 3. That way it could be similar to any other currency symbols such as: $ € ¥ BTC.
I mean using the dollar sign would be confused with the USD for sats, I think that it's better if we don't care about the representative of sats because it's just the smallest unit of bitcoin as if it's any different.

Well, the point is, there is no need for a denomination logo, its like having a logo for the denomination cent as in dollar. It doesn't go!

I agree with most of the commenters here that a denomination logo is unnecessary. However, if we are referring strictly to the currency symbol, I can see the benefits of having one. The U.S. dollar, for example, has a symbol for its denominated units (¢, cents) while the euro simply uses the lowercase letter 'c' for its cent.

I even just saw that there is a twitter account and a specific website for this topic:

https://twitter.com/SymbolSatoshi

https://satsymbol.com

This was really interesting and I liked the symbolism that it represents. My only issue with this symbol is the resemblance to the symbol for Ethereum (ETH) currency.

Hello.

You are right.

The dollar does not have a logo, it has a symbol: $.
And the cent doesn't have a logo either, it has a symbol: ¢.

However, bitcoin does have a logo, well known to all.
And it also has symbol: ₿ (Unicode: U + 20BF).

The satoshi could well have a logo as well, that if it were one of the two proposed in this topic, the symbol could be easily deduced:

As this symbol does not exist, it would be necessary to create a Unicode as it was done with the ₿.

All the best.

I'm not an expert, but here are my two cents.
A logo and a currency symbol are two different things, because currency symbols are NOT logos.
They are just symbols.
A symbol can be a logo as well(Apple logo),but a logo can be a symbol and sometimes it can consist the name of the company, brand, product, etc.
I don't know what exactly is OP trying to create-a logo or a currency symbol.I don't think that this design can serve both as a logo and a currency symbol.A currency symbol must contain only one letter, not three.
True but logos do need to be simpler in my opinion and for a currency it makes sense that the logo uses the symbol too. For example the most commonly used bitcoin logo that bitcoin softwares use is the same letter B with the vertical line(s) similar to its symbol.
For example Electrum: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/raw/master/electrum/gui/icons/Electrum_512.png

Thats very interesting.
The creator of that logo has researched and tied a lot of meanings into that design,
it kind of works.

So a satoshi logo, I get the impression from glancing over one of your previous links
that there is a suggestion where many people dont think in Bitcoin amounts but rather
in Satoshi's. They own Satoshi's but will never own "A Bitcoin" and there is a suggestion
of having a symbol for that.

it becomes every moment a little more difficult to obtain and handle a whole unit of BTC.

I have never seen a suggestion on the forum for that?

It's kind of cute you know, I would have gone with the second logo but then, the comments coming up are apparently true.

There isn't any need for a denomination logo. It would create a bit of a confusion looking like just another alt. Who knows, some persons might even want to trade it, forgetting that its a bitcoin denomination. Just like we have it with bitcoincash. Luckily for a few that often make the error of sending bitcoin to a bitcoin wallet and vice versa, they both use the same blockchain and as a fact, a reversal correction is possible by employing the services of miners.

Well, the point is, there is no need for a denomination logo, its like having a logo for the denomination cent as in dollar. It doesn't go!

I don't think it will be accepted by the bitcoin community but I like your idea.

Years ago, Bitcoin is the unit when people move bitcoin.
Latest years, the most common units that are used by people is satoshi.

Bitcoin: An Unprecedented Experiment in Fair Distribution. The report from Coinmetrics.io writes about that change in bitcoin transactions.

I don't see significant differences between the two logos above. In my opinion, they are basically the same, no different.

Anyway, I actually think the same as others, what for the logos exactly?
I think Satoshi doesn't need a logo, while Bitcoin already has a logo. The idea of creating a logo seems unnecessary. You are better to make a logo for a new crypto project, that should be more appreciatable and useful.

Just like what others been saying here that  i dont think that there would be such demand for this since we know that "Satoshis" itself is been part of Bitcoin.

It isnt really needing some alterations or some sort on creating one because this would create only some confusion and actually its not really needed at all.

Some would be liking it but for sure majority doesnt really care about this idea.I dont like the logo as well.

Is this some kind of logo contest that is open to the public or a logo for personal use. I might be able to contribute my work for the satoshi logo

Hello Dewi89.

It is neither one thing nor the other, they are simple spontaneous initiatives without anyone asking for it and perhaps they are useless, just to entertain yourself while you do them.

Of course you can submit your designs, they will be welcome.

All the best.

Satoshi logo? For what purpose? Are you going to introduce a new coin called satoshi? I don't see any usable scope for that logo. Because we already have a Bitcoin logo and satoshi is a unit of Bitcoin. It doesn't require any additional logo which would make confuse me. And I don't think the community will welcome this logo. If it's for personal use, then it's fine, whatever you like you can use. I have no choice from both of them.

Sorry but I don't like it and I don't think we need to have symbol for that.
Option one you made is a bit better, but option two with twisted symbol looks terrible.
People created logos for sats before and there are some that look much better in my opinion, and someone also created collection of the Satoshi symbol proposal but I am not sure when this website was last updated

this is a pretty cool idea, but it doesn't fit the theme you want, because BTC already has a default logo to differentiate it and be exclusive, if you create it and change it just like you create another coin but it's not BTC.

I don’t think there’s a huge demand of a logo for satoshi. Either way, satoshi is a fraction of bitcoin. So, both must be symbolized in same logo. Another logo is unnecessary and would create confusion between users. When I pay someone 10000 satoshi, I don’t say I paid satoshi, instead I simply say 0.0001 BTC. Since, we can display satoshi as BTC, why would even it be in demand? Makes no sense for me personally.

Too complicated, and would likely breed a culture of trying to get a logo for every type of denomination there is, which would quickly become confusing. I'm not much of a fan of naming denominations anyway, and would prefer to say 0.00001 or whatever the denomination is. I understand that it makes it easier, and that's fine, but I can't see the benefit of a logo. When do we deal with logos, when we are just looking at the numbers on a screen anyway?

Actually, I don't really understand this problem. but if you look at the site you shared, it's just an idea. He only suggested that the satosi symbol would be a more suitable currency to use than the bitcoin symbol.
Sounds to me, that someone wants to make their mark on Bitcoin. Rather, than suggesting a useful idea. There's no argument to be made why a Satoshi symbol would be better suited than the current Bitcoin logo.

Is he on the consensus ranks on the BTC network? Indeed, until now there is no legal logo regarding sathosi, but it looks like in the future this logo can shift the position of the Bitcoin Logo.

I don't know if this is needed but I guess Satoshi himself will give you his warmest thanks for the initiative. I guess this still was relevant to be the real logo of the Satoshi logo since a piece of Satoshi will still be Bitcoin. I think it's not necessary by now maybe in the near future, I guess when 1 sat is worth more than a dollar.

I think, the Satoshi logo should not be separated from the basic Bitcoin logo. Because Satoshi is Bitcoin in small numbers. If Bitcoin is an italic BTC with the base color, golden yellow, then Satoshi is an italic BTC with the base color, yellow. So is the price. Satoshi price cannot be more than 0.00000001 BTC or 1 BTC = 100000000 SATS and can't be less.

Hello.

I just saw some pages that suggested logo designs for the satoshis.

I have added a third option in the survey: "Bitcoin already has its logo, no other is necessary for satoshis."

All the best.

Can you share where do you see the demand or request for those logos? I never see it in this forum. You are free to create the icons and then publish it though, who knows, maybe somebody will buy it from you through third-party icon websites.

I don't get what's the point of logo to be honest because it's just a unit of measurement for the size of bitcoin. You should've made a reason first or a rationale as to why we need a Satoshi logo because it seems that you can't convince people yet to get on with the logo.

I don't know if there is really a demand for that, and if it would be useful or just cause confusion.

This may look like a new altcoin?

Technically, in the code there are no bitcoins, just satoshis.

Is there any open issue on github or something like that?

Hello.

Logo proposals for satoshi have been coming up for quite some time.

Well..., here are two of mine. Which one do you like the most (if you like any Undecided)?

Both are intended to maintain the essential elements of the main bitcoin logo.

All the best.
