Does SMF store sent PMs again? Data duplication.

Ah, cool. I didn't know about that page. I changed the default for that and "return to topics after posting in them".

Ah, my bad, the page is called "reset options," as mentioned a little later in the thread.

It's an admin setting. Not sure where, exactly, it should be, but this post:

should answer how to do it.

That's for 2.x.

It's set that way because it wasn't immediately obvious to me how to change the default and I haven't had time to search for it. Submit a patch (no more than a few lines...) and I'll do it.

I hope your 8888 posts aren't similar to this,  you're all but wasting my time.
No, most of them do have more content. But here's the thing: That setting is set that way intentionally, presumably to save storage space. You're asking him to switch it around, which, insignificant or not, will increase storage usage. Mostly to no real effect. Since you're asking him to incur a cost, I think it only fair that you offer to defray it, don't you?

There is already a feature to delete post

I really don't see the point of deleting everything by default.

(I'd think less than 1% of post would prefer not to have traces left for the rare event of a compromised account.)

You'll be paying for the extra storage that would require, then?
The storage required is insignificant.
So that's a yes?

Well, PM Theymos and offer, then.
You could have said it was only a matter of storage, or you could have made a meaniful calculation.
