By the way, does coinotron.com take account of the time wasted waiting for even blocks from the trusted nodes? That's going to push profitability down a bit, and I don't think there's currently any way to detect it and either pause mining or redirect your mining power to another chain - you just continue trying to mine a duplicate odd block.

No, we don't. But it doesn't matter. We calculate real, not theoretical profitability.

Probably because they only achieve about 1/3 of the GPU mining power per watt/card price for BTC mining but are nearly equivalent for GPU mining

You are correct. If you want to use nvidia card to mine, the only option atm is SC and reaper.

Please don't use nvidia's SC profitability 2.88 in comparisons to other kinds of mining hardware (ati, intel, amd).

Profitability table on Coinotron.com compares mining profitability of different coins calculated for given hardware. In other words comparisons between cells from different columns are meaningless. You should compare values from the same column.

Your whole computer uses only 80w to produce 180KH/s? I think you are off by at least 2, likely 3 with those numbers Smiley

Energy isn't the only cost in producing SC either, hardware, labor, etc.

this whole CPU-running is additionally for me as a BTC-miner

so the "80 w" must be reduced by "25 w" - in the reality - this is used when only BTC-mining is done - no CPU-mining

so roughly the costs to produce one SC for me is about 2 cents  Grin

the rest of the costs must be "taken" by the main leading top-currency: BTC - the original

Yeah that's the rough cost when taking into account all costs, energy, hardware, labor. It costs about 15c to produce a SolidCoin when you pay 10c per kilowatt hour. Upto 30c depending upon energy costs. This is somewhat dependent upon the difficulty modifier also, the greater it is from 0 the more accurate it is.

so, looks like a 6990 is listed at 300 khash/s for Solidcoin 2.0
compared to 800 mhash/s for bitcoins.

800 mhash/s for bitcoins probably makes about .65 bitcoins/day right now worth about $1.50

What does 300 khash/s make?  About 25 SC?  worth $0.04 a piece, so about $1?  

Please update these stats, cuz I'm making them up as I go.  

Definitely seems like bitcoins are the way to go; however, my solidcoin calculations are very much an estimate and could be low and my bitcoin calcs could be too high.

But you have the point - and so far as i can see is this the fact for nearly all ATI-GPU's

my 6990 makes
SC:   375 KH/s / Diff: 57776     / estimated coins a day: 33     / worth BTC: 0.561  /  83 %
BTC: 800 MH/s / Diff: 1192497 / estimated coins a day: 0.675 / worth BTC: 0.675 / 100 %

This (Ati 0.82) is shown on the http://www.coinotron.com Wink

Edit: i forgot, that the power consumption for these results have to be seen:
BTC uses 12.5 % more power for the upper result / so it seems a bit better for the 6990-SC:
SC : BTC / 93.375% : 100%
but it has also to be calculated: the SC-diff is growing and the BTC-diff goes down

Interesting.  So how does allchains.info only say 0.01963 Gh/s ?  I haven't read the details, but I assume that the speeds are dramatically reduced compared to bitcoin GPU mining?  There's not even more than 20 mh/s which I thought would be less than the power of just about any 1 GPU video card. 

Do we want to discuss speeds of various cards to help determine what is most efficient?

I may be able to mess with this later this weekend.

CPU: Core-i7-2600K / 180 KH/s /  80 w (100 %)
GPU: HD5850         / 175 KH/s / 125 w (156,25 %)
my GPU does nearly the same load of the CPU but it needs over 50 % more power to do this.

I'm confused by this phrase "SC-GPU-mining" because I thought Solidcoins couldn't be GPU mined anymore.  Please inform me of how you can GPU mine for Solidcoins if I missed that update along the way.

I have replaced my SC-GPU-mining with BTC-GPU-mining, because it is more power-efficient.
All my ATI-cards - proftability shown at coinotron.com - BTC:SC = 1.00:0.86

My CPU's still mine SC and LTC - whatelse Wink

Maybe the SC-difficulty stays or goes down a bit, because when it goes up like the past cycles the more power-efficient CPU-mining becomes unprofitable.

It depends on how much is payed for power, but some general thoughts concerning this theme are not too bad Smiley
