A project that wants to sell itself to unknown investors should consider from the start which are the relevant marketing and project features, and amongst the former, having clear, honest exposure through communication channels (such as a website and social media channels) is paramount.
Once trust is broken with the community, it is bound to be extremely difficult to rebuild, lest the project is inherently seen as something outstanding itself in potential, and the copy/paste you mention be something very minor (i.e. not project related, but something along the line of TOS or similar, which tend to be alike, although normally supervised by a legal department or adviser, and not the guy creating the website).
