I joined LocalBitcoins in June 2019. By the time I started working here, I had completed my bachelor’s degree in International Business and had more than 2,5 years of experience in customer service. So, starting in customer support seemed like a logical step in my career path. Also, I have always wanted to work in the financial industry.
When I was going through the hiring process, I talked about LocalBitcoins with a few peers of mine. Turned out no one knew much about this company, so I didn’t have high expectations. Guess how surprised I was when I actually started onboarding! I was shocked (in a nice way!) about how international, developed and supportive LocalBitcoins was.
Before joining the company I didn’t know much about Bitcoin either. Working for LocalBitcoins has taught me a lot about how Bitcoin works, why people buy cryptocurrency, what is important to LocalBitcoins’ customers, etc. It has been a really nice journey filled with new knowledge, challenges and opportunities.
What do you like most about your job?
I would say that what I value the most is the people.
I like interacting with our customers and looking into their issues for them. I believe that every client and every small issue matters. It makes me happy when we can make a difference. I also would love to thank all LocalBitcoins customers for their feedback, constructive criticism and new ideas.
Besides that, at LocalBitcoins we have a great team of dedicated professionals who constantly work on improving our service. It is very nice to work in an environment where people support each other and care for each other.
What are your top 3 tips for ensuring smooth sailing on the LocalBitcoins platform?
One of the most important things is to follow adequate security practices. To all LocalBitcoins’ customers I would firstly say, please protect your account by enabling our Two-factor Authentication and Login Guard features and use a unique, strong password.
Secondly, get familiar with our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. Through reading those, you can find a lot of information on what practices are allowed on LocalBitcoins and which are not.
Before starting your first trade, I would also recommend you check our guide, here. Please remember that LocalBitcoins is a P2P trading platform through which you can trade with other people. So, it’s important to understand how the trading flow works, what escrow is, etc.
Thirdly, please remember that LocalBitcoins employees will never call customers or reach out to you through social media. Our primary communication channel for all account related issues is our support ticket system, here. We may also occasionally send emails.
If someone contacts you on a behalf of the LocalBitcoins team, you can always double check this information by opening a support ticket. Our customer support team is there to help you. In general if you have any questions or concerns, you are very welcome to contact us!
How would you describe LocalBitcoins?
LocalBitcoins is a team of professionals from different backgrounds and different cultures. We have customer advocates, tech enthusiasts, market researchers, legal professionals and many others. We share the same values and are dedicated to the same goal: Bringing Bitcoin Everywhere.
It is nice to have so many different minds because each person brings their own unique additional value to the team. We learn a lot from each other and of course share some good laughs.
