I was searching for a playstore app and came across Etherconnect app, which appears to be a scam app because it requests a private key,
Thanks for alerting us, buddy! This is very sad because it seems some people already lost their money with this scam app. There are many scammers who are taking advantage to many popular projects, so it is good to be careful all the time so that we can not lose our money easily.

If you already really want to use cryptocurrency wallets on your phone, then purchase a ledger or trezor hardware wallet and use their applications.
Or download applications from official sources.
At any time, the project can get rid of and you will lose your money, and phones are very unsafe for storing cryptocurrencies.

Taking a quick look on this "Etherconnect" thing, it seems like a scam(feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty confident).

So you're telling me that this scam has a scam app on Google Play? A scam app that's pretending to be the original scam?

Scamception!!!

฿itcoin for all, All for ฿itcoin.
How on earth is Etherconnect still there, especially on Google Play?

I remember similar names of such scam projects back in 2017, and they were trying to copy Bitconnect due to its pumping price, which also turned out to be a huge scam. There was Etherconnect, Neoconnect etc

We thank you for another successful report of a fake app (that probably has already damaged someone in the world sadly). Even though the information you've shared is good, would you kindly leave a report on the Google Play store itself? I'll report it as soon as I get home and if a bunch of us do it perhaps they'll took it down. Here's how to do it (images taken from here[1]):

1. - On the app store page simply click on the option with the 3 vertical dots and then click on Flag as inappropriate

2. - You'll be shown a handfull of reasons that you can choose to report this issue. In this case I would go for Harmful to device or data but only if we look at data as our private keys. If you don't think it suits well you can always sellect Other objection.
Note: Some apps have different report options, probably it changes from app to app.

Congrats! You've just reported a fake/scam app and helped wallets from around the world to be safe (assuming more of us do the same).

We can install all the apps in Google. But we don't really know what the future holds. We don't know if there are many such apps. So it is better to verify whether the apps are scams. Thank you for sharing such a good thing.

The project has been here since 2017 as we can see in this thread.

EtherConnect (ECC) – The Future of payments

The project is not a scam but someone else developed a App and the  App is not from them and the person is scamming people with the App using there name. The project is legit and they also said they don't have app yet as you can see my chat with one of the admin.
Do they have a scam accusation in the forum?
I can't remember this project anymore, maybe they have another ANN thread that was deleted, or that's the only ANN thread they have that I shared above?

Please put more links on the evidence that will prove the project is a scam.

thanks for share here on bitcointalk, maybe it can be very useful for some one and meanwhile google can remove from their market.

please note https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0
the right section should be this one "scam accusations" , and there is a report https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/scam-report-format-use-it-to-make-scam-reports-properly-260073 that you can use for your reported scam.

Can you add also some links for this app from play store?
Link added thanks.

Who the hell would use the logo of an actual famous dead scam to try to push a new scam on the Play-store?!

I was searching for a playstore app and came across Etherconnect app, which appears to be a scam app because it requests a private key, so I checked their website to see if there was any app, but I couldn't find a link to there app, so I went to their Telegram group and asked if there was any verified app on playstore, which the admin said there is no Etherconnect app yet if I find one it's a scam.

So, I believe we should be cautious about the apps we download from the App Store because there are many scammers out there looking for our money.
Link to the scam Etherconnect App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.etherconnect (pls Avoid).
