The reason why there are tons of newbies who would like to join the cryptocurrency investment because they think once they join they can speed up the money they have which is a mistake and causes the scammers to hunt them and try to pretend to help them and if they got the trust of their victims this is the time they will try to scam them.
This is the reason why we always told never to trust other people better to trust ourselves.

That might cause excessive fear and might make a person extremely paranoid Cheesy well I guess, there should be a balance, every once in a while we see some new tokens/coins getting 10x or 20x in real just after listing, so it pulls our greed and makes us question, are we really not missing out on making great profits?! But yeah, one should always be conscious and aware of what they are doing!

So many dudes are ready to do whatever it takes to trying and get rich by risking their own assets but something they are not too sure of,  greed has taken from so many newbies who feel quick money are real but only to found out that they have been scammed. Sometimes what goes through their mind when they see a site Offering 50% daily, isn't that unrealistic?

Newbies having the though of making 2x profit or more through their investment is not a negative thought judging by the potential of the crypto market and  it not mistake either. However, greediness is what makes newbies prone to scammers and even experienced crypto investors.

Don't hesitate to check buyers feedback, some are well rated as they have no dubious attempts in mind
You can add don't easily trust the number of their past successful trades. Those transactions could be fake too.

Beginners are aiming only to make their money grow faster because they think that investment work that way.

Scammers are probably using effective tools to make other people to believe in them easily.

Using trading history with a huge profit will really lure newbies to also have that profit, which really turn them to lose their money instead.
The new people should really care about that before making a transaction with that p2p because they do not know how good their services before.
Even if those sellers have a good reputation before, it does not mean that they will not scam other people, especially if the money is too big to deal with.
If you can control your greediness to make fast and bigger money in the short term, you can think twice if someone offers you something.
But that will continue, and if the newbies can not learn from other people mistake, many newbies will get scam again.

There are always a lot of scammers that we may encounter in the world of crypto, you should always aware of those things, you have to be careful when sending money because that is irreversible, once you already sent money you cannot do something to turn it back to you, so always make sure that the website that you are going to send money is legit and reputable to avoid being scammed.

This is the challenge we are facing with p2p trading too much scammer and even they past reputation and successes are all fake. Don't be too greedy and never trust the high price because in the actuall sense no one will buy you $1 bitcoin for 2$ this are sign's and be carful.
It's also possible that their trust is only built through faked trades. I've seen in some groups that they're asking for others to trade with them and that's only for the sake of the ratings, not with actual trade. Just always follow the market price and be contented with not so high but trusted trades in P2P trades.

That people are fooled by greed is stupid, but that does not excuse the scammers.
They know the weakness of others when they're putting those prices at the ceiling to make them look that they're buying/selling at an advantageous price.

Imagine how painful it is when you lose money to scammers simply because of your own greed, here is another new verified scam that's presently ongoing on binance exchange via P2P trading
In fact, that is the fact.
Well, yeah, we may be part o them if we are greedy enough. Being a long time in the crypto world doesn't mean that we can avoid scams. In fact, the victims of the scam itself not only the newbies, but also everyone who is commonly having more greediness, panic, Follofiwng FOMO and Hype, and also careless without any analysis and further research.
Sometimes, we are also trapped by "someone says". Moreover of they are coming from popular figures, we sometimes feel greedy to follow their instruction in order to get more and more profits. Greedy people will always feel less about what they got.

I wonder if someone has a hunch before making a trade if they think the offer is too good to be true. I guess this comes from an experience but if this is his first trade then the greedy one didn't bother to follow the instructions since he's filled with emotions already. And the scammer is a smart one although compromising their reputation just for a few dollars.

~snip~
It's true that bad people aren't just in the real world. In the crypto world there are so many and that's an opportunity for scamer. Moreover, the development of crypto users continues to grow. The new users were their delicious food. Scammers are not just greedy, they take other people's rights and that is very evil. I hated him so much, he deserves to go to hell. Gluttony with a large profit offering can characterize that scam. There are ways for them to seduce their victims. They take advantage of our time panicking, offering help, great benefits and much more. For beginners this is really attractive, they have to be more careful. They have to read a lot and research a lot to make a decision so that there is no harm.

That’s true because majority of scammers lure in investors by showing them high return on cheap investment. Many shitcoins are alive only because people buy them because of their cheap price and they never took off. People refrain from own research and fell prey of scammers after reading the catchy slogans.

Probably many have heard the saying: "There's no such thing as a free lunch." Anyway, every day we come across a lot of stories that scammers have deceived someone. I think that there will always be some form of deception as long as human stupidity and naive dreams of getting rich quickly flourish. The famous Barnum  said for a reason: "There’s a sucker born every minute"
Therefore, you must always keep your mind in a sober state, since any negligence and belief in what the fraudsters promise us, threaten us with the loss of funds, and they will have another victory.

I don't think someone has to fall for that level if they were a reputable P2P traders but if the money included is too big then it's expected that they were ready to go for it compared to what they will receive when trading.

Well, one way or another either one of them might make a move to scam and it's inevitable since greed is involved.

It reminds me of a scam that had happened with me, I don't exactly remember the exact amount, the person was offering Bitcoins through localbitcoins at really very cheap price but I was an idiot back then, can't really blame myself either, I was immature and a kid, so the person was selling bitcoin through "offline" as in face to face and in localbitcoins (idk the recent rules) if you purchase face to face, the escrow system is optional and that person sent me a screenshot (fake one) that escrow is on and I can pay, and silly me, I paid and he blocked me instantly. Later, I came to know about it and found on Google he was a big scammer and has done it with many people. He was later arrested as well I guess, and that time bitcoin was like really low in price so my around $50 worth of coins would have been so much now Grin lessons really learnt in hard way and really as you said, greed is lethal and can lead to even death if not controlled in time.
That's hell of an experience but I'm more concerned if you are still holding a lot by this time. Those offers that we see on P2P exchanges needs to be taken seriously if you're mostly doing trades there. As for me, I don't have to worry about it because I only trade on spot exchanges. Sometimes you'll really going to be tempted doing the trade if you find it beneficial and higher than the others but you shouldn't go in an instant if it's too good and deceiving.

...I would suggest a campaign against scammers should be launched so as to sensitize crypto investors on what to expect and how to apply cautions to their investments
There have been many such similar suggestions to somewhat protect people, newcomers most especially, but a culmination of the whole matter is that it's impossible to protect everyone in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, no matter what is done or amount of effort made, people's follies will still give them away to scammers.

I suggest people to be well-grounded in the network before investing, by well-grounded, I mean learning security protocols and other whatnots that have to do with protecting their funds, if you choose to be your own bank, you're by extension your own security and no one else can do that job for you.

Greed is one of the looter of public and personal funds. Get rich schemes has made many bankrupt and is still Keeping a handfull in debt. You can't be expecting to have a huge return from a little capital. Some scammers go as far as promising their victims 50-100% return on each invesent made which is literally impossible. I would suggest a campaign against scammers should be launched so as to sensitize crypto investors on what to expect and how to apply cautions to their investments

Don't hesitate to check buyers feedback, some are well rated as they have no dubious attempts in mind

Also do not release coins unless you receive deposit in your bank accounts and also find fair buyers that buys at normal rate, nothing is for free in this world, if something is too good to be true it's 99% certain that it is a scam.

I don't see the logic of paying $300 for coins that worth $100, it's either the seller is drunk or made a huge mistake, if he made a huge mistake then it's a costly mistake, but be still be very careful if you are trading to someone who has this offer then show honesty and confirm if he really wants to trade, and check his feedback, there are people who trap people because of their greed, and if you are not analyzing properly you are likely to fall.
I confirmed it today when I was trying to sell USDT for naira on binance exchange, there are insanely eye popping offers available on binance P2P but it's easy to know that they are scam because few of these offers have a note that sellers must release coins first before they can send them their money which is against binance P2P trade rules, too many people are still in haste when trading that's why they fall for such, if they take some minutes to look very well they will detect that such trades are not safe

The only fool will be who never learns even after getting scammed, it's humane to make mistakes and learning from it should be the goal,
Have you ever heard that someone around you is being scammed twice at about the same time for the same case and problem?
It was an experience my friend will hardly forget when he lost his car. Often someone who is a victim of a scam does careless thing when asking others for help. Their unstable emotion make it easy enough for them to trust someone who want to help them and it has become an opportunity for another scammers to make him a victim for the second time.

In the crypto world, almost all scam case stem from user carelessness. We are responsible for having assets in our wallet at this time, and our carelessness was the culprit when a scammer managed to acquire those asset. Greed often create problem that we don't want, it is very easy for someone to get attracted to ponzi scheme when we are they are very greedy.

So, the trick is basically based on you to have released coins based on trust. That wasn't greed, that was out right stupidity on the side of the seller. A mean, why should you confer such trust on one you do not know and have never met! The success of your activities in the crypto space is basically on how private you keep your details and how you don't trust anyone.
These exchanges go as far as making the release payment or acknowledgement of payment a 2 step process to ensure that your sure to have received and not to have clicked by error means. So, its just some users being too selfless on there part.

I agree so much, while it's so easy to blame scammers for the scamming part, we never actually blame our own stupidity for which we were bound to get scammed now or later, by that particular scammer or by someone else. The only fool will be who never learns even after getting scammed, it's humane to make mistakes and learning from it should be the goal, today we might get scammed for a very low amount, but if we learn our lessons right, we might be saved from getting scammed of our entire life savings later in life, which has happened to many older people who has lost their entire life/retirement savings because they never had experienced scams and hence trusting everyone.

Scammers hunt for the greedy onces because they are always in a haste about opportunities especially when it comes cheap. This is just how your greed ends you in a mess you might not be able to recover from, thats if you recover at all in a long time.
Scammers have no definite idea of who the greedy once are and as such, they test everyone the same way until your spotted through your enthusiasm towards making quick money and not willing to follow due procedure. They've thrown this to people over the years, it worked and is still working to this day.

The number of successful trades doesn't mean anything. They could be fake trades the scammer did with his friends/accomplices. Reviews can be faked the same way.
In fact, Binance p2p platform act as an escrow between you and the buyer so you don't have to trust each other. Just don't release the coins untill you receive your payment, as simple as that.
I don't rely also in history of trade when it comes in dealing transactions as it can be manipulated by just simply asking a friend to have a deal. It's good to use Binance p2p for a much safer transaction provided that amount will only be released with your confirmation that its really in your account. Though hassle might come after when they track something suspicious to the account you dealt with so always be careful to whom we deal with when it come is crypto.

Yes you may be right but OP almost became an opportunity to be taken advantaged of by scammers. The idea of a scam is to appeal to your greed. When you look at most scams critically, you will discover that the storyline wasn't that intelligent and difficult to see through but because of the greed of the victims they ignore all red flags and end up losing their money

Not everyone is greedy for this, if you get a good opportunity you can definitely use it to get good results. But you have to be smart enough and careful before making any kind of transaction. Because a lot of scammers will try to seduce you by showing you various tempting offers so that you fall into their trap. So you have to understand in advance which is the best offer and which is the offer made for the purpose of scam. If you are aware of scams in advance, you will be able to take advantage of many good opportunities without falling prey to any kind of scam.

Scammers are always finding ways on how they'll be able to outwit their preys. So for us not to be able to become of of their victims, it is indeed a necessity to feed ourself with knowledge and wrap with security. Scammers always tend to take advantage on their prey's greediness. Be diciplined enough so we could avoid them.
Everyone has greed, but it depends on how well they control it. Scammers do take advantage of one's greed as well as unwillingness to profit by committing fraud using many methods. There will always be new ways and there will always be new methods, we also have to develop and don't get left behind.

As I said above, we have to be one step ahead of the scammer, it will save us from all kinds of traps.

Some people try to avoid it and some people ignore it too, unaware of the scammer trap.

The characteristics of a scammer always provide an unnatural and different advantage in general. Looks very easy but gets a lot of results. I learned from the experience that I had, that doing analysis on a project is very important, so that I know the background and type of the project. Always be aware of new methods of scammers, we must also think 1 step ahead of scammers.

Scam methods are developing rapidly, and a person needs to be informed of all news daily and not to send money only when you are 100% certainty that you are safe. Otherwise, trade with popular platforms that will not scam you because they will lose their reputation.

Scam methods will not stop at Binance but many altcoins are not safe and you need to wait for a long time, such as 10 or 20 confirmations, to be safe.

Binance P2P is not a way to buy/sell Bitcoin as all things can be done with Bitcoin mainnet instead of using that platform.
One of the aspects that make people prefer the Binance is the low fees. saving a few dollars in tx fees may lead you to lose your money.

This is just good old method of taking advantage of one's greed. There is nothing new about it. Plus, I don't think this is binance's fault either, when you do p2p you are on your own.

Such scam should be easy to spot on. Nobody is that gullible...even though the crypto space is new and might be challenging to grab on quickly, there's no excuse for losing your money to such scams.
I'd you're selling bitcoin through p2p its best you use Escrow to make the transaction. That way both parties are safe from such difficulties for the both parties. Needless to say for newbies the crypto space can feel like "Alice in wonderland" but it will all come together with time. Ask questions if you are confused or not sure what to do. I believe that's what this section was created for. You can't be a mbee of this forum and still fall victim to scammers. No need to be ashamed if you have been scammed. It has happened to the best of us.

Greed is not the main problem here, after all, there's nothing wrong with wanting to make money. So many people come to crypto to make money fast, and with good timing it is indeed possible - people who bought Bitcoin half a year ago are not in x6 profit, while those outside of crypto say that Bitcoin is a bubble and a scam.

The key here is to think logically, carefully examine if this is a legitimate opportunity to make money, if the profit is real, or if it's just a scam. In your example with P2P trading it's clear that there's no good reason for buying coins at x3 market value, so it must be a scam. But Bitcoin is growing at unprecedent rate because of real demand.

those who are greedy will always be victims because they are always lacking in what has been obtained. But lack of vigilance will also be the reason why it is so easy for scammers to trap. Currently Hype Defi in BSC is high and many new coins are listed in BSC. and of course there are also many traps set by scammers. Some people I know have also been trapped because of the liquidity of the coin being withdrawn or the term "RugPull". I even experienced it once.
Getting a little profit is better than expecting a big but uncertain and ultimately losing out on the scammer trap.

I've only heard this elsewhere and this verifies that it's really happening. Always verify when you're transacting through Binance's P2P or any other P2P that probably has the same procedure.
There really is an actual premium price for some crypto but that only happens in some countries of exception like what I've read about in some countries in Africa.

I totally disagree, there are some scam tricks that works on people that don't actually know what they are doing but this very one that OP is talking about is pointing to the greedy ones, it's 100% clear that sellers want to sell coins that are sold everywhere for 1$ at 2$ or more, this is complete greediness

OP definitely refers to greedy ones, but the title of this thread says "Scammers always hunt for the greedy ones", which is definitely not true as I tried to explain in my previous post. Of course there are people who don’t know what they’re doing, and at the same time are greedy and impatient, but what the OP describes is only a small percentage of the total crypto scam.

If someone just searched this forum for those who bought some cheap BTC thinking they were buying a real BTC, or those who bought a coin address instead of the real thing or watch-only wallet, you would see that there are many more who have no idea what they are doing than the greedy ones.

You have a point, scammers hunts for anybody either greedy or not, you don't have to be greedy before scammers can scam you, losing private keys to scammers or phishing isn't greediness but scammers are well known for using attractive offers to lure those who are greedy too, you got it right
I disagree with the phishing point, there are two types of phishing that I know of

1. The phishing that promise good offers and only want you to do a click and boom 💥 you are already in trouble

2. The phishing that hijacks either wallet address or web page you trying to access and refer you to the danger zone

The point here is the first still talks about been greediness

The fastest way to lose money in crypto space is been greedy with yourself, moreover everyone wants 2x gains isn't it?

Also do not release coins unless you receive deposit in your bank accounts and also find fair buyers that buys at normal rate, nothing is for free in this world, if something is too good to be true it's 99% certain that it is a scam.

Yeah, it is pretty obvious that there is something shady on that kind of transaction because who would let anyone be in disadvantages themselves in this kind of trade, I mean there's no way a person will pay you more than the amount they can receive right? This is just a basic instinct of traders after all. They always say don't be greedy in your trade cause' this will drive you onto your own loss and that is 100% true. Reading or scrutinizing user's feedback and past transaction will help you to give an idea of whether the users are trustworthy or not. Besides, I believe there are some rules in doing this kind of trade like payment must be accredited to your account first before releasing the coins so we might check it out first before engaging in any activities to prevent this problem.

I would not agree that scammers are looking exclusively for those who are greedy, for them even better target are those who have no idea what they are actually doing. A person who has invested in cryptocurrencies and does not know what a public/private key is, or how important it is to keep a private key/seed just for their eyes will very often fall victim to those who offer quick overnight earnings - in the way "send me your seed and I will send you twice as much BTC than you have in 2 days".

Given that knowledge of cryptocurrencies is still quite modest among people in general, scammers actually enjoy making a profit in a very easy way. Of course, I feel sorry for all those who have been scammed, but the first rule before investing your money in something is to learn as much as possible about it - study, be careful and do not trust strangers who contact you online.

Actually, some classical scams are like that, based on greed. They require you to pay a sum with the promise that you will get much more. Online scams are just a normal evolution of this.

Imagine how painful it is when you lose money to scammers simply because of your own greed, here is another new verified scam that's presently ongoing on binance exchange via P2P trading

There are some buyers and sellers on binance P2P platform that are willing to buy coins from you who are greedy at 2x price, for example 1 USDT = 1 $ as we all know it but they are ready to pay 2$ to 4$ per 1 USDT, DIA and even ETH... Imagine selling your ETH at 1,700 x2 and people thought it's genuine, here is a sign and still some don't know

And binance always warn to never release coins unless you verified payment received in your bank account but some went ahead and release coins before they receiving cash, here are some regret words from greedy ones

I mean isn't it how it was really done? P2P trading in Binance? I mean you shouldn't really release the coins unless you receive the deposit first? that's how it works in P2P trading.

It's always a sus of course seeing this kind of deal so just be careful dealing with a sus deal, Just follow the rules in the P2P trading on how it should really be done to avoid getting scam.

Also, there are a lot of ways to buy bitcoin or cryptocurrency I guess you could try other ways to avoid this, or you could always appeal from Binance if something happened since they were handling these transactions.

Binance P2P is not a way to buy/sell Bitcoin as all things can be done with Bitcoin mainnet instead of using that platform.
One of the aspects that make people prefer the Binance is the low fees. saving a few dollars in tx fees may lead you to lose your money.

Please tell me how to sell BTC for cash using mainnet. That's the reason lots of people from all over the world use Binance for P2P trading. The OP made a valid point, everyone needs to be careful, but I'm yet to see something that looks fishy. Where I leave lots and lots of legit Binance customers use P2P option and it's quite easy to find a reliable buyer/seller.

There is always the possibility of encountering a scammer, just as there is with any other P2P platform. In fact, a lot of users are that don't want to spend time reading reviews. Chances of finding a good trade partner is higher if you look at the past 30 day average volume and some transaction information.

It's good to point out scams like this, but I agree, the greedy ones will always fall for it first.

Binance P2P give you some information for your trade partners:

Total orders
30 days completion rate
30 days order
Average release time

You need to choose trade partner who has high total orders, and high total orders in last 30 days. You don't know what happen with account has good trades in the past but inactive in last 30 days but suddenly want to come back and trade.

Completion rate: choose a high rate, 80% up.
Average release time: choose a short one. You don't want to trade with a person who will let you wait for long.

If a trader has too little past trades but gives you a good rate, consider carefully. I don't say every trader gives you such attractive deal is scammer.

Not all successful trades are really successful, those scammers can trade between different accounts belonging to just one person, remember KYC verification isn't that hard on exchanges anymore, it's better to read users feedback and trade with those with multiple successful trades and zero bad feedbacks

You can add don't easily trust the number of their past successful trades. Those transactions could be fake too.
