Provably the crisis creates new scammers since of the people are desperate to gain money due to hunger but I'm not pointing all reason for this assumption since that one is just one of the reason why the numbers is growing up and also maybe the big reason on why because this is the effect of digital age where many scumbags gain confidence to fool people because they know they cannot be sued easily.

Scammers are getting high because they know that they will get more money because of the increased of bitcoin, there would be many transactions happen when the price of the bitcoin is high and it will be easy for the hacker to take actions on that transaction, especially with those people who don't put good secured in their accounts.
There are no investment websites that will make your investment double for just a few days, that is obviously a scam, do not believe those offers, it is still better to invest with those investment websites that offer small amount in return legitimately

Scammers are increasing because they are making money, every scamming strategy they put in place works on many innocent victims, this year many have lost money to crypto scam, they are everywhere, telegram,Twitter, Facebook, forums etc ,you are the only one responsible for keeping yourself safe

make sure that when you join a certain project that you follow all their official social media platforms and just stick to those. join most specially their telegram group as this should be the most real time of all socmed platforms

With the recent price increase of BTC, the number of scammers are also increasing. Yesterday I saw a few people posted bitcoin doubler scam link on one of my facebook group. Since the price is increasing, such scam method will also increase. Do not trust any lucrative offer you get, please check on google before putting your money.

The numbers of scammers are not diminishing, and they are very innovative in what they are doing, imagine the Facebook and Youtube giveaways, it's hard to imagine that they can hack or bought this popular Youtube channels and use it to scam people and people thought it's all legit.

Presently now, the awareness of bitcoin has spread globally due to the halving. Scammers do find it as a tricky moment to give out undiluted promo of doubling their amount the invested within 7-9hrs.

The simple way of spotting scammers is when the pm you first on social media asking you to invest and make quick  profit on their platform easily

Thank you for posting all of these examples and kind of explaining it. I'm a new person and although I am still learning and wrapping my head around this new concept and how it works, it really helps to see what kind of scams there are to avoid (even if some are common sense, others don't seem to be as much for a completely new person). I hope this information reaches others too, before investing or giving out information! Thanks again!
Most of it is common sense. If you apply the same logic you use in real life to your online life and the crypto industry you should be fine. Just remember that nobody will give you free money, same way that there is no free money in real life. You have to work for it.
Anyone promising you fixed and high profits are trying to scam you.
Anyone contacting you for the best offer of your life is lying to you.

However if you are the kind of person who trusts random people on the streets, puts his fingers inside the mouth of an unknown dog, and takes unknown pills from strangers at the club, sooner or later you will get hurt.

Forums and all social media and email are the place. In fact, you will also find it in Google and Google Store searches (fake wallets and other extensions). Every space we have scammers is hiding, so raising awareness and not easily trusting people you dont know is a must.

This information is really great, especially for newcomers They can easily see the activities of the scammers and learn something. The number of these scammers is increasing due to the rise in the price of the currency in the crypto market. They are bringing more and more new currency markets and showing greed to make more profit Newcomers are more affected by them So try to stay away from any new currencies and links You have to work carefully and analyze the market well before investing.

From my whole time on crypto, scammer are always there, Since I join crypto last 2017 they keep messaging you on email, telegram, twitter and other social media. On telegram they are pretending to be an admin or support copying username and modify it a little bit to fool you. They are persistent I keep blocking and reporting them but they keep coming. So the best thing to do is never trust anyone when someone contact you suddenly without stating his/her business with you, dont entertain them. Always verify the source there are a lot types of scams be careful everyone.

The scammers are going to scam anyone anytime especially this time where there is a virus outbreak which makes everything very difficult to other people and are looking for money for daily need. Even there's no virus outbreak some people still want to steal money by scamming people. That's how greedy people are.
this is how the world runs ,people will do anything just for money. Cause money can buy everything but also the root of evil.  This is the hard truth about how our life runs in this world. Money can give you power thats why people will do anything to have it.

It can be the reason why scammers are increasing but I also think that the current situation contributes to it. A lot of people are on their gadgets and different social media platforms, it gives scammers more opportunity to scam people. Although there are already thousands of scammers out there even before, I think one factor right now is the pandemic. I have also seen a lot of news regarding some crypto-investment schemes emerging for the past few weeks. More people are prone to scams and fraud now, that is why it's better to aware of these scammers.

Personally, I don't easily believe in what I saw on Facebook especially if it's about crypto unless it's a trusted page. There's a lot of scammers on Facebook so we should really be careful and not believe in everything on the internet.

Today with the innovation of the technology and adaptation of using the blockchain and the cryptocurrency because they know the potential of this coin to make a huge market income and profit some of the people making some trading, predicting the market price of the coin but this needs to have essential and deep learning and knowledge about the market movement of the coin because it has a 90% chance of losing your market income if you miss the proper prediction, next we have an investment which is many people trying to attempt scamming those newbies into the world of investment in crypto because they encourage them with the term of double their funds and also triple with the use of cloud mining and other kinds of stuff to double their funds.  There are a lot of phishing websites to that act as the main website but the intention is just getting the information of your account like the username, password, wallet address, and private keys or codes which is linked to your other accounts and they can now easily steal all of your information and funds.

As miners increase the scammers increase as well, they tend to be scammers because they want to make money in an easy way, which is fooling other people, they tend to offer good things, like good return in investment but if you already deposited your money, nothing will happen.

Always be careful when talking to someone, especially those people who will message you out of nowhere.

If you want to know if you are talking on some potential scammers, have a look with this thread: Password changed / Woke up recently. Good signals to know potential scammers

If you mostly use the telegram for communication tool there are a lot of unknown people are trying to message you and promote their projects and encourage you to join and make some investment please avoid those kind of person immediately but if you don't want make a research first.

That's a common thing every time that the bitcoin's market is on green and increasing, so do the number of scammers as well. I really don't trust any of online platforms that offers any sorts of easy money, even airdrops and bounties. I think it's just their scheme to gain popularity yet soon will either promote something such as tripling your investment in 5 mins, which is common in telegram channels.

Scammers are everywhere so we have to be very careful with our money because it belongs to us and we only know how hard it is to earn that money so if someone saying you can double that in minutes then its not too hard to smell something shady behind their words.
Fraudsters use different tactics to make money out of people's greed and it will be easy to recognize them if you're well aware of their system. Scammers usually used false promises that seem realistic to attract attention, like claiming that they are from well-known organizations and earning money without facing any risk. Thus, we should always search to verify things before trusting someone with money.

...Since the price is increasing, such scam method will also increase. ..

I do not associate the increase in the price of bitcoin with the number of scammers. There are already too many scammers in the crypto world. I meet such scams almost every day and most of all scammers use a Ponzi scheme. This is because it is very easy to register a new site and place a template with a similar scheme there. And then just wait for someone to click on the ad and place their Deposit there.
Trust me, when price increase there will be a lot of new scammers + new scam method to scam the new investors mainly because newbie has lack of knowledge. At a bull market, scammers get very active.
as long as money is involve  theres no way to stop this scammers from doing bad things.  If there are still  people who believes on ponzi scheme scammers wont stop to steal someones money.

Only newbies or those who are risk takers are going to fall for this scam, we all know that doublers should be a thing of the past, so many have fallen to this kind of projects in the past, scam will always continue not only on scheme like doublers, but also on giveaways and ICO and IEO giveaways, this is a multi million industry, so expect the rise of scam projects.

I agree that the most money is lost from fraud by newcomers who are promised a large profit in just a few days. In order to deceive newcomers. But in order to deceive newcomers, scammers do not need to create new fraudulent schemes, all of them will continue to work. These are such common schemes as bitcoin doublers, investment plans, virtual mining and fake ICOS.

I'll partially agree with point "new scam method to scam new investors" but won't agree to where you wrote "price increase there will be a lot of new scammers. No one knows or have statistics or proof about numbers or scammers during bull or bear season. It better to say they improvise every season making it look like new set of scammers. Scammers are always waiting for opportunities. These scammers will never end. When the price of Bitcoin goes up, a lot of investors come to the market and there are old and new investors. And the main target of these scammers is new investors. Because new investors have no idea about such scams. So scammers try to take advantage here. Every time the bitcoin market starts to go up, the number of these scammers increases. So now everyone should be careful. We should also warn others.

Exactly! It is actually very possible that Google itself will be the one to lead you to a much more dreaded scenario.

Just hours ago, an article in line with this issue just popped up on my feed: https://cointelegraph.com/news/google-keeps-promoting-crypto-scams-despite-strict-crypto-policies

Before painting google all evil:

Quote
The fraudulent CoinCornerr.com website is currently unavailable. Its Google Ad has purportedly been taken down at the time of publication. According to domain registration data, the fraudulent domain was created on April 29.
Pretty fast response from them, right?

Second:
Quote
According to Spiers, the fraudulent website successfully bypassed Google Ads’ restrictions by not mentioning Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in their advert at all.

That website was not praying on people searching to buy Bitcoin, it was just a phishing scam for the domain "CoinCorner".
Nobody who would have searched for the terms "buy bitcoin", "sell bitcoins" would have seen that ad.
And people are falling for Ponzi scheme for a century, with all the info available there are still cases all over the world, there are hundreds of other scam schemes still running people are still sending money to that Nigerian prince, to the "it's me it's me" phone scam, to many others, and some will still fall those ICOs, doublers, cloud mining and so on...

It will take years before those will start dying and the new wave of crypto users is educated enough so they won't become victims.

Oh, one funny thing...
Bragging all over the place that you have made x100 profits in crypto isn't helping either  Grin Grin

Well, these scammers are not choosing any season. They are there for all seasons, bears or bulls.

True, but it's quite evident that they are more active in bull markets as a good number of beginners are flooding into the markets in a bull market. The bull run of 2017 is the perfect example.
Yes, you are right.

I think the fact that everyone is in their homes too due to quarantine is an additional factor.

The fraud attempt by the scammer will never end and this has been done for a long time. Various schemes have been carried out and this keeps us careful not to get caught in traps.

With the recent price increase of BTC, the number of scammers are also increasing.
Even they will still make scam attempts when the price of bitcoin dump or sideways.

Also be cautious of the altcoin popping up as they too can be scam traps.

Anyway, everybody should just be safe rather than sorry. Be generally skeptical when it comes to online investment opportunities. You don't have to wrestle with either a yes or a no after a juicy ROI offer is made. You don't have to go that further. You might end up swayed. Just take note that anything which solicits money as investment online should be marked red immediately.

The lack of background knowledge on Bitcoin and how it works is one of the reasons people fall easily for scams such as this. Newbies to Bitcoin would be willing to accept any idea sold to them about it, especially if it has the potential to make high returns for them. If you invest in what you don't understand, you're more than likely going to get scammed.

Reporting scammers' websites and social accounts is one way to reduce the scourge.

Some Bitcoin doubler scams I found months ago are still up and running. Even if they were to be dropped, they would return with yet another try to scam us. A scammer will most likely continue their attempts unless someone takes a good care of them..

Anything digitally that gets adopted on a wider level or has its interest increased will become a target to more scams/hackers/malware. It's common sense that a hacker/scammer will want to push their attempts to a larger audience because this is how their chances to succeed increase as well.

It's not surprise since even if there's no sudden changes to the price of bitcoins you can actually see those doubler and other hyip investments sites created since this schemes are business by scammers. But what the bad thing here is those scams are still promoted since there are still people who live's to earn from referral commissions on hyips and I see so many people doing this especially on social media pages.

It's even worse due to current pandemic which affect economy and many people are getting desperate where people either got scammed easier or become the scammer.

Exactly. Imagine if the economy implodes, and for example bitcoin rises in price like in the December 2017 levels. Assuming a decent number of people moves a good amount of their wealth to BTC, and some of them gets hacked, the damage will be tenfold. Families gets broken, people go homeless, people go hungry, and other very negative stuff. Don't get my wrong, I'd love a good bull run, but thinking of these stuff happening makes me sick to my stomach.

Let's be realistic here. As bitcoin gains adoption and increases in the long term, there will be more and more scammers and hackers. They've existed since forever, and now that they found another industry to take advantage of, especially knowing that they could easily easily get away with the money without a trace, scammers and hackers in the crypto industry is a nothing to be shocked of. If there's already an increase in scams, you can expect it to only get worse as the market becomes more and more bullish, after all we will very likely enter a new bull run similar to what happened in 2016, and more new people means more opportunities for scammers and hackers.

The Crypto industry will be A LOT of people's first internet security lesson.

And this is really sad, because with crypto it's easy to lose all what you have, so many times I've seen users saying that they lost all their coins when they installed a fake wallet or their exchange got hacked.

I made this thread: The halving Gusto two days ago, and I think it's something similar to the point you're trying to make, there will be more people making wrong decisions this period, it's this poorly thought out decisions that'll make them get scammed. I do not even believe scammers increase in numbers, they only get more victims when BTC price appreciates(and also when anticipated events like the halving gets traction), that then makes it look like more scammers were introduced to cryptocurrency, while actually it was people's greed and "get rich quick" ideas that caused it all.

With the recent price increase of BTC, the number of scammers are also increasing. Yesterday I saw a few people posted bitcoin doubler scam link on one of my facebook group. Since the price is increasing, such scam method will also increase. Do not trust any lucrative offer you get, please check on google before putting your money.
we all know that any kind of doubler are scam and with bitcoin ,which is suddenly increasing its price again we will expect huge rise of scammers these days.  Hopefully some newbies in crypto are already educated about this bitcoin doubler scams.
Sadly there will be always victim from scam method like this. No matter how you warned them, they will still believe in themselves or their friend who succesfully got double from their investment on scam/hyip/doubler sites.
But actually not about those sites too, there were lot of ICO/IEO scams since years until now, with current bitcoin price increasing, surely there could be more new ICO/IEOs appearing

There are a few translations going on daily on YouTube pretending to be giveaways hosted by famous people like Elon Musk etc.
Don't fall to it as well and be careful double-checking everything you see relative to Bitcoin.

That's been ongoing since late 2017, actually.

These scammers will never stop. We already know that even from the start of this industry weve seen how these scmers grows in numbers. As innovation improve their way of using different type of methods increases too.

Too sad right? There is a topic before I read here about bitcoin being decentralized, but Im just sadden by the fact that illegal activity using cryptocurrency is inevitable. I am a believer as well but too much negativity has been observed and will be seen on the future. It always depend on you how you will evade those tries to take advantage of you.

As the value of cryptocurrency increases, the investors and traders increase as well and the hackers will see this thing good for them because they will have more victims for what they are thinking to do, which is to hack or to gain access on the accounts of some people. Hackers are everywhere they have so much knowledge about technology so they can do something just to gain access to your account.

Always make sure that your account is secured enough to protect it from hackers and carefully visiting some websites will also increase security because there are many fake websites that will get your information for some purposes.
It is best to dismiss and report it right away as scam. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency double-your-money offers are scams through and through. No need to check and verify them through Google. Google might only mislead you in the end. Google is not the right place to verify whether a scam is indeed a scam. It is itself guilty of posting scam ads and apps.
Yes, it's true, those things that offers good result for short period of time are commonly the scam. Some says that the money you invest will double for only 24 hours but after 24 hours nothing happens, you just had lost the money you had invest.

Yup it was expected by me, just take a look when many fake/scam fundraising or corona shitcoin during this pandemic.

With many journalism, blog, and news predicting bitcoin price will increase after halving (like 1st and 2nd halving) then it will attract people to invest in bitcoin. I think most of them didn't know what is bitcoin and didn't learn about bitcoin first, they just don't want to miss the FOMO

The problem is we couldn't warn all people before invest in bitcoin, but we still can warn people in this forum, bitcoin enthusiasts in social media/group, and our friends. I already warn them before invest in bitcoin, because bitcoin is not an easy thing to predict and the safest at all.

Price increase attracts new Investors, which attract scammers wanting to take advantage of their lack of information. The best decision any investor can take during this positive price increase times is, not to be greedy and just hold until your bitcoins. Resist the temptation of wanting to double your bitcoins by either investing in this doublers out there which are just obvious ponzi scheme that are likely to scam you the moment they feel like doing so. Also be cautious of the altcoin popping up as they too can be scam traps.

If you're not skilled enough, don't go trying to outsmart the market by wanting to advantage of the current high volatility of the market. You can easily get trapped as bitcoin can increase rapidly without any prior signs. If you observe it rose over $1200+ in 24hrs meaning investors (wanna be traders) that sold before the rise are likely going to FOMO back and some would had bought within the $9000 - $9400+ price range before the corrections. Just hold unto you coins and don't get pressured into trying to do what you have no idea about (trading).
