Probably is true that people just need to learn and stop investing time and money in things that are dubious or "too good to be true". That is the easiest solution.  Smiley
I would not expect that solution to work because it is impossible for everyone to learn and stop investing time and money on scams. Take con men and Ponzi scheme founders as an example. How were they able to scam people despite the rampant information spread about typical scams? The best solution to the problem at hand IMO is the strict regulation of announcement thread and marketplace posts(if theymos decides to help fight against in this forum).
It means just opening a economic opportunities for red tag as there is no rule that say Bounty cannot be manged  by the user having red trust.
Only fools will try to invest into ICOs managed by them because red tagged members have visible warnings under their profile. Anyone who didn't heed the warning beforehand is either an utter fool or someone who just invests blindly and does not read or do his research before investing.

I am alive but in hibernation.
My suggestion is to prevent scam;

Means everyone will able to reply, but below Full Members will not able post new topic. So scammers will not able to post directly above boards unless they bought account.
On that situation ICO team will try to hire some one from higher rank. Obviously higher ranked members will investigate minimum before take a project due to red tag from DT. Because no any higher ranked managers expect red paint on his profile. Also we can ask a manager to delete or lock the topic if there is enough evidence against scammers. But if a topic posted by scammers, we can't force them to delete or lock the topic & moderators also not able to do it due to scam not moderated by forum.

Will not help a bit. There are many Full member and above  will gladly do the work for few bucks. Check the red tags earned in this forum most of  themju got red tag for scamming few dollars or doing something unethical. Red tag does not stop from posting so what about the users who already have read tags? It means just opening a economic opportunities for red tag as there is no rule that say Bounty cannot be manged  by the user having red trust.
What do you think of this legendary bounty manger needmoney? look like he is now managing the bounty outside the forum effectively shielding the participant list too.

The solution is already presented by you earlier by writing some of your tips on how to check for scam ICOs, Hope you will share more of those tip and technique that will be really beneficial for all of us. If investor do not fall for scam then people will stop scamming automatically and we need a well aware investor/community to stop scam.

I think best way is to collect the tips and technique for how to identify the scam ICO and get it pinned in Altcoin Announcement, Bounty and Services sections.

Some variant of this limitation in opening new thread (minimum amount of merit or rank based) has been suggested more than once and seems the most obvious solution, but i seriously think that would not stop scammers. They could go off buy merits or a copper membership, invest a little money and go forward with their scams, so where to draw the line? Probably is true that people just need to learn and stop investing time and money in things that are dubious or "too good to be true". That is the easiest solution.  Smiley

There were lot of scammers on the market scammers and mostly the Digital goods section is flooding with those scam threads and even we can understand that is scam but most of the newbies still falling for them so we must need some restriction to create threads on the marketplace like Copper membership because lot of scammer even can't afford to pay some pennies!

And also please remove self moderation threads on marketplace section.

Your intentions are good, when you say that scammers shouldn't be able to profit from this forum. But the thing is that there are a ton of projects out there and trying to check every project doesn't make sense. It's a damn lot of work for mods. Ultimately it comes down to the community to ask hard questions, do research etc. As for bounty hunters' loss, no one cares. I have seen members applying for bounties for projects which scream "scam" from every corner of their site. But those bounty hunters just want a quick buck. So let them burn.

For investors, that's certainly sad. But no one can spoon feed here. You gotta learn how to spot a scam. And even after doing all the research, if a project turns out to be a scam, then well, that's your bad luck.

Your idea about not allowing new members to make ann thread is good. I have seen some forums employ it. But I guess, on BTT it might not be very useful. It will just allow for account markets to flourish! Secondly, it may happen that projects may not find enough members to list their projects. Which is of course not a good thing.

So the summary of the story is that we as a community has to be more vigilant. Theymos or mods can't do much in this. After all, we can't discourage people from using the forum.

Is there is any solution for minimize scam ? If yes than how ?
Instead of depending on the forum to make changes in the functionality, ask the people of the forum to do their research before blindly sending money to any stranger online. Most of the scams happen around buying/selling digital goods which are not endorsed by their service providers. If you're going to send money to buy a twitter account, you better have the account password and email changed before paying the seller. - It doesn't take a genius to figure this out.

It's a circle, ICOs scam investors, bounty hunters scam the ICO and the story repeat.
you described it in one easy to understand sentence of what's going with all those "projects"
actually that's happening most of the time in our crypto world Roll Eyes to almost about anything

If people looking to invest in something without doing their due diligence then it's another problem.
due diligence... caveat emptor... whatever term is used, that's exactly what everyone's got to do
the invention of token starts the new era of massive scam projects,
so much easier to create token to represent a project, gather funds and fool people Lips sealed

The copper membership just allows the user to post images, etc. It's not a distinction for bravery.
Most people participating in the campaign don't care to promote a scam. They cheat & scam the projects themselves with no shame.
It's a circle, ICOs scam investors, bounty hunters scam the ICO and the story repeat.

If people looking to invest in something without doing their due diligence then it's another problem. Who is crazy to invest in a random project using free photos from Pixabay to represent their team.
When they will be tired to lose money they will spend it wisely. There are a lot of crowdfunding websites you can use to invest. It's about the same investment type than ICOs.

Your idea is not so good for people who join the forum only to promote their project by introducing it. I don't think any of them will waste their time trying to reach the full member rank just to be able to post about their project/business.

Scammers entering on the forum without obstacles. Although many times discussed about  that, but I want to highlight it again. Its time to think about it.

Lately we have identify so many scam ICO project, especially with fake team. As we know scam isn't moderate by forum, reporting this kind of post is useless. So scammer can continue their promotion on this forum. We are update all of their bounty or ANN thread, I wonder when we see our post is deleted by moderator sometimes. Also DT claimed about that, you can see posted by marlboroza ; Need explanation from moderator who deleted my post (2) 4 days ago

I noticed from current situation that scammers just create new account and buy copper membership to make ANN and bounty thread. In a result , no one is monitoring that except scam exposure. You can visit Scam Accusation board, 95% exposed scam thread posted by themselves (scammer). Because of that hunters are wasting time investors are losing fund. Not only that, forum also losing reputation.

Is there is any solution for minimize scam ? If yes than how ?

So many members suggested different idea previously. However I am wondering just prevent/reduce scam.

It's time to think about forum reputation now. Don't let them scam innocent people. Need to become strict now. Merit system implemented to prevent spam. Theymos couldn't take this action to prevent scam ?
