There were so many verified Twitter accounts during the last year pandemic period that promised their followers some money in form of giveaway which actually they did, you can't possibly know the fake either, it's a thing of luck if actually the verified account is real. Also some verified account asks for minimum deposit to receive giveaway in equivalent to your deposited amount, such one should be avoided and may possibly be scam because in rare sense, verified twiiter account do not need his followers money. Novices are always the victims of this incidence.
Believe in the promise of Twitter users, how can they do that?

Money verifies your reputation. It is worth in the bear market where everything goes down and many people are rekted. Nevertheless, it is superb ridiculous to see people break their promises in bull market. Especially if you are mentioning about influencers, KOLs, leaders in your crypto communities.

I don't know who are Twitter users you are regarding to but I don't follow them or participate in their giveaways. El_Duderino run some BTC giveaways on our forum and he has never broken his promises on awards. Every award is paid for winners on time.

The pros no longer fall victim to these social media scams anymore. The vulnerable ones are the beginners who have a lot nh way to go. Verified accounts are more likely to attract trust and in turn attract possible victims but, there is no danger in verifying the messages you get on social media. Being aware of the high rate of social media scam, either an account is verified of not, there is nothing stopping you as a potential investor from doing your investigation before putting out your money. In fact, the best way to go is never trusting in anything you see on social media. That way, your awareness is raised so high and you become greedy with your money that, you want a detail of which ever information that crosses you and how every penny from your funds would be handled and a possible insurance policy. That's the hight of it but, it's the way to go these days.

After all these years, is there still a lot of people who fall on this?
scammers are smart set of people, who wouldn't believe a verified page? this makes it very possible to fall because people trust and pay more attention to verified pages this is why we need to create awareness and to teach the community how to spot out scam giveaway.

Scammers are keen on Twitter to run their scam promotions, fake giveaways, pump and dump signals, impersonate famous people to steal your crypto and fiat.

why ask to go through a link when they could probably ask their followers to paste their wallet address under the tweet for a random pick, a legit giveaway happens on the page anybody who redirect you to website is a scammer

Either the accounts are real or fake I don't make crypto decisions from people, I only learn from them and follow my own heart, I feel more in control than following people where I always feel lost and in the end it's a bad result, fake twitter accounts can't get me cos I'm not ready to listen

you can't possibly know the fake either, it's a thing of luck if actually the verified account is real.

You can click on the account and view the handle. For instance, Elon Musk's official Twitter account is https://twitter.com/elonmusk and goes by the @elonmusk handle.

Any Elon Musk other than that is 100% scammerino.

copying the names of popular personalities and that's how they attract victims. This time, they've upgraded and having verified badges to their accounts which is easier for them to fool investors and scam them.
After every successful scam operations the names and pictures are changed and all those who participated blocked.
It's usual for those scammers to block their victims so that they won't be searchable.

Is there a way to know if those accounts were just hacked and already verified and were changed the profiles? It's been a long time since the proliferation of scams through Twitter being made.
AFAIK, The blue authentication will be lost if the user changes the username or makes many sudden changes in the account.
I see. And that means those accounts with blue and verified badges are legit accounts. What if they're part of it and just get paid for whatever they post and they're not aware of it? their profiles were used to scam people without them knowing it.

Unless the account is for spreading viruses, phishing links, etc. it is difficult to lock it.
Scam cases need a lot of time to verify them, so Twitter officials are often lazy in combating them, and some projects can only be proven to be scam with official documents.

It is best to raise awareness than fighting scam.

The logic of people who trust on tweets of strangers and unfamiliar faces in crypto market is broken. Verified accounts are not matters if they don't have enough time in crypto market and don't understand what it is.

Elon Musk, JP Morgan, examples are very bad in crypto currency and believe in their tweets on crypto is stupid. The same rule can be applied for other verified accounts. Honestly, I admitted that I don't know any of the accounts in OP.

After all these years, is there still a lot of people who fall on this?

These scam attempt won't be stopped and will forever be associated at any type of investment so we are the one who needs to adjust. By only using "common sense" is enough and no need to DYOR to verify if these services are legit. Unfortunately, Twitter isn't really good at taking down pages like this or it takes too long to make an action.

Of course, maybe because scamers keep doing this with fake giveaways and a few other tricks someone must fall into it.

So these scammers will not stop until someone falls into this trap, therefore they are willing to do it in any way by being hacked, buying what is needed to carry out their actions, which we are aware of with common sense, however there may be a company. who gave this fake offer.

So for me, with various giveaways such as on social media, websites of famous figures, etc., what the scammers do, there must be someone who has fallen.

To a significant extent, Twitter is a lair of scammers, probably just like every other social media platform. People are there, so scammers are also there.

So I guess the best thing to do is to assume that everybody else you do not know are possible suspects. It may not be good but a high level of suspicion on social media platforms is probably offering us better security. Especially if these accounts are promoting giveaways, investment opportunities, TAs, trading tips, and so on and so forth, don't trust them.

A suspecting attitude in the online world is much safer.

Verified Twitter accounts do not 'verify' anything, still do not trust, most things posted on social media/pages/handles about crypto, either Investment/ how to make ROI, are mostly scams; hacking verified accounts isn't new, but I'm curious as to whether scammers have found a way get verified Twitter accounts without actually hacking them, is it possible to buy verified Twitter accounts.
I don't think these accounts were hacked looking from the amount of followers perspective, these accounts are being sold by some set of people or hackers who have found a way to bypass the verification process through third party apps. if amount of followers can be manipulated through third part apps then getting the verification badge is also possible.

Having said all that, users should take responsibility of their funds, so as not to fall for giveaway crypto scams, and tbh, users who prolly fall victims to most crypto scams (giveaway for example) are mostly people who want to get rich quick via the Bitcoin network.

Crypto giveaway scam on Twitter is becoming rampant the way a verified account is being continuously used to scam people got me thinking how unsafe and unsecured Twitter has become. The Twitter verification was paused since last year yet these new accounts still manage to get verified with lesser followers, I don't know what criteria was used in verifying these scam pages.

The scam verified account profile
Code:
https://www.twitter.com/Kelly_rohrbach

It was first used in 2015 as Elon Musk giveaway.

The old site links
Code:
https://thegetbonus.info
https://thewinkles.info
https://Must-donates.com

Fast forward! 2021 the same page is being used for scam promotion and this time the theme was changed from Elon Musk to Tyre Winklovoss.

The current site link

This is another verified account promoting the same scam giveaway

Account profile
Code:
https://twitter.com/jbdeuce4

Promotion site
Code:
bit.ly/2LDdx0

N/b: The person behind the account keep deleting and rebranding the accounts profile after every successful scam promo. Be safe guys there are no free coins anywhere.
