Everybody can say what they want to say about school but to me school is not a scam, if you thought as much that school is a scam you better not go any and one day you will be in a situation when you see a written that tells no road then you enter and something bad happens to you. Then you will realize the importance of going to school.
Although our governments has made the youths and children of nowadays to think there's is no rewards in going to school. People might say everything we call the government but to me they are the ones that's are being recognized in any were in the world, they don't know you but they knows who the government are. The government are the cause of this because if they are doing well by providing jobs for the graduates no body would ever think that schools are scam.
Some days ago I hear my next door neighbor child telling his mom that's there's nothing good in school apart from reading and writing and he also said he knows how to read and write, and he said Jennifer that's a graduate is still at her mother's house selling pepper in the market and she's even a girl then he that's a boy they want him to go to school and after school he too sell pepper? He also said he wants to do yahoo.  Grin Grin Grin
That day I laughed so loud, tomorrow will tell and not today, nowadays youths thinks they can't make money if they didn't do fraud.

Just as you said that Nigerians has made academic a mandatory but it is not that way at some developed countries. It is obvious and remarkable pointing out the countries that does not make it mandatory are already developed countries and the developed countries is not only by their economy growth but also developed in their mental faculties.
Meanwhile.... Here in Nigeria we are striving not only to develop our country but also develop in our mental faculties and how to be civilized in other to be resourceful.
So here, education is the field structure to attain that height. As long as we are underdeveloped and unaware of the importance of civilization in a society, education seems the possible solution to lucrate our mindsets to a greater utilizations of opportunities. Although it is not a guarantee that education would bring us riches but the civil and sociological networking aspects it impacts us is worth than some individuals with the plague of golds.

Op have you ever seen some hard working and worthy persons that does not know the value of money? I mean they do not have the capacity to tell a figure of money on their wallets or at hand and even if they goes to trade or buys something they do not know how to be financially calculative?
This is one of the dividends obtained while at school, it would get you opened minded.
So I can tell you that education is never a scam but a way forward for a society structural engineers for developments.

It is a popular saying in Nigeria- School na scam! It is believed by Nigerians that there’s no gain in going to the university. It’s just a waste of time and resources, especially because when you graduate there will be no jobs or economic provisions. This recent tenure has made things so much harder for the youths, even more than the past governments. It is as though the best way to survive in the country currently is by learning a skill or hand work (as we commonly call it) and saying bye bye to university.
Nigerians have made going to the university so mandatory but that it is not even the case in other more developed countries, even though better opportunities awaits them after school.
Nevertheless, some people also see the university (regardless of the bad government and economy) not as a scam but an asset or necessity. Because going to school broadens your experiences and intellect. It educates you on how to interact and think better than the lay man. So it is deemed fit if you want to be astounding in intellectual matters.
Omor what’s your take?

Anybody wey dy say school na scam just dy deceive himself, him or her no fit get a good job no mean say school na scam, in most developed world, the primary purpose of going to school is to get enlightened and if any other things come along with it na just bonus, so for you to get enlightened alone na one major plus wey you don take pass person wey no go school.

And if you dy talk about being successful, bro that one na different thing all together, because you must not go to school to be successful, anybody can be successful, wether them go school or not, but you need to go to school to be enlightened, to know what's up.

I just guest you are a newcomer if not you would have known that this topic has been emphasized on couples of time. School is not scam, that slogan is used by frustrated people who don't see the brighter side or important of education. It is believed by most people who didn't went to school that school is a scam simply because they were unable to attend school and they see most graduates doing thesame job with them as hopeless people who could have used that opportunity and learn a skill but not knowing that education is also very important. There is nothing you do in this current generation that education is not involve. The world is gradually moving from uneducated to educated, civilize and a technological world where most things we do requires educated people. Those who said education is a scam have already started feeling the heat. If you check out the society the uneducated that made such statements have been enslave with there know or believe and haven't progressed because that is all what they could offer.

Those educated people might be suffering but they have no limitations. They are versatile and can adapt to any environment because they can communicate freely and can travel round the world. I could remember when I was working, in my place of work I was ahead of most of them because I went to study further and Got a certificate and skill of the work. I was promoted and most of my colleagues become my subject and they where working under me. They said school is good! If they had knowledge about education they may equally be promoted as well. Not that they where not good but they needed who can do better than that, like education and skill combined together and I was there and I took the advantage. So school or education in however way you put it is not scam.

Note school Is not necessarily a place to participate and becomes rich, or a place to study and get degree and still work on what you have studied. School is a place of having basic knowledge of reading and writing plus other skills, Which will help you in the future.

Higher education allows people to climb above their existing social status and enhance their level of living. School no go fit be scam, if only people know the benefits of school other than getting employed based on your field of study, them for no dey make that statement say school na scam. People wey go school are psychological supposed to be more brilliant in improvising and thinking critically outside the box than than person wey no go school, that is if the person wey go school know wattin carry am go school, say e come serious for school. The thing wey dey cause this statement sef na the rate of corruption wey dey make recruiters to take lower credit students over distinction and first class student just because of connection wey em or em college get with the employee.

OP sorry to say but creating topic like this will is really not necessary and if you are looking for people’s take on this discussion why don’t you ask people around you instead as this would add nothing to the board and forum plus i have noticed a similar topic being discussed on the board already.

Nigerians have already labeled school to be scam all because of the poor economy of the country, we know the economy have made so many graduates jobless but it doesn’t justifies that school is actually scam as a lot is being learned from school also there is a clear difference between educated people at different levels. So many people have gone to school and was able to secure some work for themselves. I believe to secure a job now connection is what a person needs since corruption have taken over the country. Going to school is never a waste because it would help you one way or another and because a lot of graduates are unemployed doesn’t mean all graduates will be unemployed so school is not scam.

School is not a scam and it will never be a scam to those that really went to school because, school is just like an investment you will invest your money in the past and when the time of harvest come you will be part of those that will earn plenty profits from your investment.

If you look at our country today, you will discover that those that went to school to achieve a good results from school don't find it difficult to get a job in the country, but there are some that have the good result in the country and they are not getting a job, check them very well, some of them are looking for a job where they will be receiving million as a salary every month and such people can call school scam because it will be difficult for such people to get that kind of job in the country .
