I am sure this is just part of the growing awareness of the people on bitcoin. To be included in the new words of the scrabble game, the word has to be popular already and in use especially in online interactions. There is no doubt this can be helping for the mainstream adoption but of course there is no magic bean here. Certainly, the road to mainstream adoption is not just one event but rather a compounding effect of so many factors and even personalities contributing towards that goal. And of course, we are not there yet.
I agree, but I would say this is a welcoming news for bitcoin. This game has been around for more than 70 years now and it's one of the most popular games specially around the 80's-90's. So for me this is a good news, might not be the one reason for mainstream adoption, but this little steps will grow overtime and who knows, maybe scrabble players will be curious about this word and might try to invest in the future.

I am sure that scrabble addicts will get to know more of the word 'bitcoin' while they are playing the game. ~~~

Not only scrabble addicts but scribble players around the world. As rightly said by OP, my believe towards this positive news is that, it will drive adoption of Bitcoin to the masses. This move is in favor of the cryptocurrency community and in no time from now we will experience a greater adoption.

Anyway, this is just telling us that indeed bitcoin has already entered the general consciousness of many people and that there are now institutions recognizing this fact. Of course, this does not mean that just because it is part of the scrabble we can now see mainstream adoption but certainly this can help a little.

It's surprising that Bitcoin is being recognized and noticed in different ways around the world.
It was just being adopted by merchants these days and it's now being recognized and added even in scrabble.
People will surely be more aware about cryptocurrency becsuse of this.

For those scrabble lovers out there, "Bitcoin" is one of the latest word added in their dictionary. Grin I don't know if we can consider this as getting closer to adoption, but we will take everything in stride.  Grin. Maybe next year we will see a lot of altcoins being added as well.  Smiley
