I haven't seen a scratch card for many years, here in the country where I live they still exist, but as I place my bets online, the scratch card is a thing of the past... I remember there was a gas station that gave out scratch cards as a gift if you filled up with gas 30 liters of fuel, I got a cheese loaf with a can of Coca Cola... It wasn't worth money but products from the gas station's convenience store.

So while we are on the discussion and topic of gambling, I wonder if there has every been a scratch off ticket thread?
I was at the gas station today and I said screw it lets get two $1 scratch of tix because why not.

Theres a story of different lottery tickets but incase of scratch off seems like never seen a thread created here in the community.

@op, I wouldn’t mind you giving some details how the scratch off games works and a little advice that you shouldn’t make the gas station your new home as that possibly might lead to addiction 😎

If you tried to search a scratch off its card that has a shape that base on the name itself you need to scratch to see the result each pattern have a particular rewards and also most of them has a multiplier. Some people says there's a strategy on it and some people seek a loophole with this game so they can have a higher chance to win. If you check in the different gambler strategy story afaik there's a one story becomes a millionaire because of this game.

It's a long time ago since I play scratch off ticket. Yes, it makes curiosity for people who played, especially if they can't win. They will try more and more again since the price is cheaper. They can try many times until they satisfy or until they win but that depends on their luck.

It's a fun playing that games and really fills our spare time. But people must be careful because this game can makes them addict. They can buy more using some money and expecting to be the winner. Maybe filling the curiosity will be the reason why people play many times.
Any game can make us curious because we don't know if what results we can get which is always true especially in gambling. We can also get curious if we can't win and we think it may be a scam but our suspicion is mostly wrong. It's only normal that that the players will have a lower chance of winning than the owners.

In gambling games like scratch cards, winning may depend on our luck but I think we can increase it by buying more tickets. Still, this is not guaranteed, so I don't really advise this. We think we are financially capable or stable to afford a couple more tickets but we should realize that our costs can still add up and the total of them will still be huge.

Speaking of the scratch. I just purchased a couple of tickets yesterday when I pass by on a local lottery outlet near our marketplace. I purchased 10 cards worth 20 pesos each for a total of 200php.

Most of the card is useless but I still manage to win some even though it’s still not enough to break even. I decided to just save the scratch cards for remembrance instead of claiming it since I don’t really need the money that I use on this purchased.

See the x3 40 and x3 20, that’s a total 60php win or 1$+.   Grin Grin Grin
If that would be the ratio of  ticket and per win , means there are only 25% of that 100% the chance to win.  Wink but at least like you said that the money you used buying that ticket is your willing to risk amount.

I remember when my uncle is still alive as He is addicted in scratch and lottery ticket , he is summoning me to purchase ticket for Him and he will give me percent if he wins , but yeah it is a BS waiting but i receive nothing from him  Cheesy Cheesy

Congratulations on the tickets you won, and sorry for the ones you lost, Tongue i have not bought a scratch off ticket before, and i don't see where i can buy such in my location, maybe i would look around and see if i can buy one or two with my spare money sometime. However, do not get addicted to it, but if you are only buying with $1, then i don't think it is much, except you are buying too frequently. Goodluck.

Everyone always expect everyday to be one of the Christmas days full of celebrations for them especially the gambler and the lottery winners but it is just impossible to maintain that posture.

That’s the real fun of scratch cards or any form of gambling that involves jackpot prize for small bet. You are expecting to win big that’s why you keep scratching cards despite the chance of winning it small. You will surely not enjoy it if you think how hard to win on this game rather than beating the odds of winning this game despite the difficulty. It’s like finishing a game on a hard mode. It’s painful but worth it when you finish

I’m not encouraging you to try but buying few tickets will not gonna hurt you because it’s very cheap.

The first one was a flop, but the second one was a winner! I won one lol Just $1. Whoopty doo lol

So I used that winner ticket to go and buy another ticket, and guess what!? The same thing happened again and I won one lol.

I am going to go back tomorrow and get another one and see what happens and keep you guys posted!

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?

The last time I used a scratch card was back when I was a child and there was a small shop nearby my home.
They used to sell these scratch cards which we need to scratch and get the reward right away.
Most of them were flops but I had won in few of the scratch cards.
Though the rewards were not much (mostly 1x and twice I had got 2x), it was fun to scratch those cards.

It seems that you are getting addicted to scratch offs. Grin That's the main way they manipulate people into thinking that they could win something. You spend 1 USD and get one USD back. To be honest, there's no point discussing scratch off tickets in the Gambling forum, because this isn't considered hardcore gambling. Scratch off tickets are more like the lottery, but it seems to me that the chance of winning the jackpots with such tickets is way lower. Lottery games were called "a tax on the stupid" and scratch off tickets are pretty much the same "tax on stupid" My grandmother was a little bit addicted into buying such tickets years ago. I remember trying to convince that this is a waste of money.

This doesn't sound like gambling. It's more of a game than gambling. We have something similar in my region. In this one, you'll buy a random number. Then the number is revealed this is whe you will know if you won or not. Usually theore numbers you get gmthe higher your chances of winning.

Since money is involed, it's still considered as gambling mate, But you're right, It's just like a game wherein you can enjoy and challenge yourself but then again, It is kinda addictive to play, you won't notice that you have already purchased many tickets because you've enjoy playing it. Been there done that, but I'm glad that I can manage myself and I have limited money from my school allowance because I'm a student back then when I tried Scratch Offs.

First, congrats on your strategic scratch-off game wins—you've mastered mini-wins! Scratch-offs are their own world, right? You've felt the suspense and brief exhilaration of winning, even a dollar. The thrill, chance, and hope that this next ticket is the big one are all important.

In response to your question on the biggest scratch-off win, lets talk big, beautiful numbers. Records show people winning millions from tickets costing less than a nice lunch. Scratch-offs make wealth accessible with just a few dollars and a coin to scratch away the silver coating, which is their appeal.

Im getting analytical here, but it becomes interesting. Odds are carefully calculated. These games fuel that hope and keep you coming back. It exploits humans' desire for rapid gratification and easy victory. Scratch-offs are an interesting study of hope, chance, and sometimes the relentless search of luck.

Thanks m8! That was fun to read. I will say that it was definitely fun to win even to break even, but when I went in today to cash in the winning ticket of course I got another random scratch off ticket and lost, I should have stayed with the same flavor of ticket and I probably would have won! haha. I'm curious what those carefully calculated odds are. And I wonder what the best ticket class is to get the highest dollar amount winner, for instance the $1 ticket, $2 ticket, $5 ticket yields upwards of what figure in the top 10% winning tickets on average?  I would be curious to know that information.  I'm not really interested to keep going back for more, but I am considering cashing in some of my change to fund a few more ticket purchases in pursuit of this lucky ticker! I have a good feeling about this that I will eventually find an extremely good prize ticket one day soon  Cool

Ah yes, story of my life. The feeling of being able to buy another ticket using the money I won from another ticket felt like I was winning in life back when I first discovered about scratch tickets lol. It was rather enjoyable though, far from the initial idea I had about it before I tried it out.

I think the most I won was about $20? It was with a Go Banana scratch-it ticket, not sure if it's something local or what but it's your usual scratch-it with a multiplier bonus. Was pretty lucky with the x2 bonus and had matched a $10 result so it was an easy $20.

Your experience playing lottery gambling is quite interesting..!!! Organizing lottery tickets in several places is always a hot topic and interesting to talk about, because this is a type of gambling that can provide the opportunity to win big prizes with relatively small betting capital.
In your case, even though you only get a relatively small number of prizes, I think this experience can still give you sensation and excitement, so that you might be interested enough to play it again.

And the biggest result I ever achieved in this type of gambling, was only around 5 USD, yes, a little bigger than you, hahaha... And I personally don't play this type of gambling regularly, or even go to the shop to buy lottery tickets on purpose. , but sometimes when I'm on a long journey, when I stop at a shop to just rest and buy a drink, and because coincidentally almost every shop I stop at has lottery tickets available, in the end I decide to try my luck by buying some lottery tickets, which I usually buy are instant lottery tickets. And this was quite an exciting experience, so I want to try it again in the future, just to try my luck...

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?

I don't find scratch cards as interesting and worthy of spending with even if does have a cheap price. The prize reward is only limited and it was only distributed in certain places. For example, there are 1,000 quantities of $1 prize, 500 quantities of $5 prize, and so on at some specific location.

As a business mindset, the location where it always established more and bigger sales will have few quantities of a much larger price. Anyways, don't be serious on the number figures I mentioned. It's just an example but the real and accurate numbers is larger than that.
Facts, however, that's just how luck serves it purpose. For example, 500 quntities of $5 won't be continuously won by a single player simply because the 'rightful' cards are disseminated on the whole 'deck' as a whole. If you are lucky then you'd won some but given how luck plays, you won't be having it most of the time. Even if it is just limited, a goal of earning a few from the total number, and as long as it could be considered as profit, would matter. But indeed, the gambling provider will be the mist to take profit but as players, we should not be against it given that they provided the prize pool also the production of the game itself. A player against other player's luck should be more considered than player to provider competition.

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?

I have never been lucky to win such ticket but I have seen those who won them. In the case of the game or bet , it has numbers and prices to be won on the ticket and the prices are inform of cash or goods. So, It appears difficult to me to get a matching number with what is on the ticket against the price money or the goods specified against it. After much trier, I have given up on it though there are people who keep winning from the ticket they scratch.
Well, I'd say many people are not lucky enough to win big prizes most of the time. Some are really doing so but the only thing that could explain it, is their luck. Pushing our luck just to win the game will just result to bigger loss in the long run. Luck based games would only work thru luck and that means waiting for your 'turn' than to frustatedly get yourself closer to that turn by means of continuously betting.

Not my win, but a close friend of mine and I was there to witness it.

We're just about to go on an out of town trip to unwind and actually mobilize plans for a bootcamp that we're trying to setup with our closest friends and smartest acquaintances, and for the lols, after buying enough groceries for 2 days on a local chain/mall we decided that we'd play some scratch cards and see who gets closest to winning. In the Philippines we have this scratch card game called "Scratch it" that, along with the added benefit of knowing whether you won instantaneously or not, also gives the player the chance to claim his winnings right then and there should he win a prize.

Unfortunately I didn't win shit, but that friend of mine won what I guess would amount to 60 bucks in USD, which is not really a lot but still is the highest amount of win amongst our friend group. He won and treated us to some food that day.

To digress a little bit, I think the reason why we don't have scratch card threads in this board is because there's very little to talk about them. Unlike other forms of gambling that are unified and systematic, scratch cards are fragmented and each provider may offer a different spin towards scratch cards, this and the fact that you instantly know when you win or not just makes it not worthwhile to talk about in my opinion.

I played at scratch it, Hot 7's. As far as I remember, that was the year 2019. This kind of scratch-off can be found in most of the malls here in our country, I just tried my luck that time but before I won, I needed to spend more than $10 on tickets. It kind of makes me addicted as I enjoy scratching cards a lot. So, to make the story short, I only won 170php or $3 that time. Since then, I haven't tried to play it again.

interesting topic, I can relate here and what I will say is my experience when I was a college student, tho I am in a legal age but my parents don't really allow me in any gambling related activities, then one time, I was at the mall and I passed by at the scratch it mini booth,Out of curiousity because there's a lot of people and elders has been there, so I tried the Go banana which is I think a local name in our country, it costs 20 php or 0.36$ and when  the day I played it, I got lucky because 3 same numbers came out. which is 1000 PHP and voila, my 0.36$ has become 17.98$. After I won I stopped, since then I have not tried to play scratch it again.

I remember winning at least a $40 in the scratch offs card and it’s called “Go Bananas” in my local.
This could be addicting honestly because of the excitement every time you scratch the card and the cost is not that big. You can see this kind of gambling in almost everywhere in my city and many are really playing this game with a hope of winning that much.

I have played this type of gambling several times, but have never won once. In my opinion, this is a type of gambling that is quite difficult to beat, because it requires strong instincts. And now it's been a long time since I played gambling like this, the last time I played gambling like this was when I was still at school. And gambling like this can really use up my pocket money... hihihi

And when I saw your post, I felt curious enough to play this type of gambling again, but where I live I no longer see any shops that provide it. In fact, in the past there were lots of shops that provided it, perhaps because nowadays most people have switched to online gambling, so maybe this type of gambling is no longer interesting to play.
Totally laughable isnt it? with some mix of some temporal burst of emotion on which you would really be having thoughts that there's no one would be able to win this.
Actually i had bought some cards something like this but it was just only a few or lets say 20 in total and totally stop after than because i do have in mind that it is really that
totally pointless on spending up some bucks just to look for some wins out of these cards. Yes, winning significant prizes is slim and thats what make things
interesting but not all would really be having that fund on sustaining but for the sake of curiosity and a little bit excitement then its not bad to deal up with these things.

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?
It was with finnish "Ässä arpa". it had this a tic tac toe as a second game. I scratched everything but one corner and realized that no matter if it's X or O i am going to win. Then i scratched the section how much will it be and it was 2000€ at the time i bought it with my debit card because there was only 3€ in it, and i couldn't withdraw it as cash from ATM, and i can't remember why, but i needed 3€ in cash. So i thought i have a slight change i get 3€ back as that's the lowest prize, and cash register in that kiosk would pay it to me in cash.

Ironically i had to wait for next day to cash such big prize from my bank. I took it all out and went shopping, as at the time i knew nothing about investing. But new laptop came in handy anyway at the time.

I never won anything big after that when ever i bought. And i stopped buying them when i found cryptos, did some math, and realized i have actual changes to money with them if i know what i am doing.
Last time i won from scratch card, it was 300€ from a card i go a a gift. I haven't bought a scratch card since. Odds to get even my own back, at least with scratch card in my country are ridiculously low.

Scratch-off lottery tickets hold a certain allure. They're inexpensive, accessible, and offer a quick shot of excitement. You're absolutely right – they can be a fun way to unwind, a small indulgence for a potential thrill.

There's a certain honesty in your approach. You acknowledge the odds are stacked against you, yet you enjoy the act of playing itself, the "scratch-off shuffle" as some might call it. Imagine it like a small amusement park ride – a brief burst of anticipation and surprise, without the expectation of a life-changing jackpot.

And let's not forget the unexpected windfall.  Your story of a big win followed by responsible money management highlights a key point – moderation is key.  You secured some profit, ensuring you came out ahead, even if the following tickets weren't winners.

When I was 17 years old I had the great idea to buy entire roll of scratch offs.  That comes to $300 a roll so if $10 tickets you get 30, if $5 tickets then you get 60 scratch offs, so on and so forth.  Me and a buddy of mine split the roll cost and we're gonna split the massive profits we were destined for.  After what seemed like hours of scratching we came away with around $130 basically losing $170.  Good lesson for a young dumb kid.  Since then I've gotten them for gifts and such and have never won more than $50 on any single one.  But most are lovers.  I equate scratch offs as I do slots.  If not fun then I don't want to play a losing sum game.  Scratch offs don't do it for me so I don't buy them.

It's been very long time since I saw scratch of coupons, I thought it extincted, LOL.

Scratch off can be extremely lucky depends on the probability of the winning amount and that's not the case with the one you are talking because it doesn't make sense to spend $1 to win the same amount and it's unlimited money hack for the one who created and selling.

Scratch off ticket is actually one of the old patterns in gambling that many of us had experienced long time ago, its actually fun to do and we have series of wining items we can scratch off and luckily win any of them, i was not fully involved into gambling then when i used to play for such kind and i don't even think i can remember the specific amount ever won that is the highest they are as of then in physical casinos and i don't think if the online crypto gambling casinos have incorporated on this for gamblers online.

We have scratch-offs here in the Philippines, and the highest I got from it was 300 pesos (equal to $5.40) and every scratch off after that was just a money sink. It was fun though, you stake half a dollar and win more than that. The chances are extremely stacked against you, but it's still somewhat inviting to buy those in bulk and play with your chances considering how cheap they are.

I still play the normal lottery but avoided the scratch-offs altogether. It's a fun little game but just like the lottery, you will just lose money in the long run. At least with the lottery, you have the chance to win extremely big if you're just going to play with your chances anyway, why not take it to the next level.

Funny story. Here in my country we do not have scratch off lotteries, unfortunately. We only have the clasical lottery modality which is about buying a ticket and then waiting for the draw night when the numbers are randomly selected and winners are declared.
I have never seen scratch off lotteries here in my country but I know that if there were, they would be very popular, specially because there are people who could easily spend several dollars on gambling and many would feel curious during the first days of the existence of those lotteries here, curious enough to spend money on it, as a novelty.

Be careful with those tickets though, from reading to your story, to me, it seems you are betting pretty much hooked up to those scratch offs and before you realize, you could be spending much of your money on them. Good luck, regardless!

Haven't played that in a long time so I can't remember how much I've won but I do know how my lock works when it comes to scratch off tickets, not that good and I know that it's going to be a cascading effect the moment that I decide to buy more tickets to try and get a win is going to be a really bad headache for me and it's going to be the start of an addiction, I know that the first time that you've played consecutively in a day won't make you an addict but I'm telling you that it only takes one day before you would become an addict, it's an all too common story, one try and then you wouldn't notice it, you got addicted to it.

I really like the concept of an online gambling that involves scratch off tickets but I can picture how boring it's going to be when it does happen though, I don't think that it will be consistently popular but it's definitely going to gain curious eyes to try it out, isn't this thing already done in Gacha games?

So while we are on the discussion and topic of gambling, I wonder if there has every been a scratch off ticket thread?

I was at the gas station today and I said screw it lets get two $1 scratch of tix because why not.

That is an addictive form of lottery and back in time many years ago in my country where I live now it was popular.I remember it only costed like 0.50 dollars to scratch one ticket with the possibility to win up to 100.000 dollars and boy were people like crazy playing it because of the low cost, instant knowing if you were a winner or not.

I think this would be a great addition if some casinos opt to revive such type of game and to use as low as 0.10 dollars bet I am sure this would be a massive success to the casino first implementing such game.As for winning I only won once 27 dollars from scratching many tickets but lost much more than that  Grin.

I used to try out scratch tickets but it some point just like OP I was always retuning to it again with the hopes of winning bigger amount and I could Percive gradual addiction so I had to take a break on it and since then I've found it actually difficult going back to it since it wasn't turning out with good sums it got me discouraged, the biggest I've gotten out of it was a $10 card and it felt like a joke because I wasn't playing for fun actually as at when I was on it so I told myself I can't continue with this I had to stop.

It isn't a really bad game especially if you just want to have fun just like OP then you can go on and on with it and you can be sure to not get emotional about loses if made because the Intention was actually for fun and not to make good money off it.

It's been years since I last bought a scratch card, the last time I bought a few cards was with my wife, I had to exchange some money and they had scratch cards too, so I bought a few... we didn't win anything sadly.

I don't buy scratch-off cards, but I play online ones, usually from BGaming Scratch Alpaca bronze and gold. I have never won any big prizes, but from time to time I give it a try... who knows, maybe one day I will get lucky with some big win from online scratch cards.

I like this thread... if I don't forget, I will buy a few scratch cards one of these days and share them here. Good luck to everyone!

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?

Scratch tickets are very popular here in our country scratch tickets are being sold at lottery outlets so if you're a lotto bettor you will likely get attracted to buying these scratch tickets, because its instant you will know right away if you win, this is how our scratch ticket looks like.

I'm not very lucky in this kind of game the highest prize I won was $10 and I won many times considering the cost of the ticket is not even half a dollar.
You can win up to $10k if you're lucky to scratch the right combinations.

What a nostalgic scratch cards from our country. I really missed purchasing this scratch card way back when I’m still working on my previous company with lotto outlet near our building. This our hangout during break time when we have few change from our food purchase.

Red Hot 7 and Money Tree is my other favorite cards to play. The highest win I earn on this game is 1000php multiple times on different occasion. I’m very lucky on playing this game probably because I’m only buying some whenever I feel that I will win just like my luck when playing slot games. Nice to stumble here a scratch it gold game in PH.

The most I've won is about $20 but have seen how people can get highly addicted to them. I've seen some people buy loads of these in one go and it seems like a terrible idea, even more so because they seem to get trapped in this endless cycle of buying more. They are perhaps one of the most dangerous forms of gambling and they can be quite visible in shops, compared to other types, like slot machines which can be hidden away - however this would be country dependent on the laws. Brands are almost meaningless, because it's all basic calculations that go into manufacturing these batches of cards.

I laughed at the story you were telling: the ticket cost $1, and then you won $1, as if your bet was just returned. I hope when you come back you hit that scratch game with a big amount.
May luck be with you.

I only see that in the ads here on the Facebook social media platform, but I never tried to play it because it seems like it's hard to win like that, and it's really just luck from what I see.

See the x3 40 and x3 20, that’s a total 60php win or 1$+.   Grin Grin Grin

Lol, but it's the banana mate, I will do some from time to time when I can, in the market, in the mall, in a local lottery near our place. Same with you, will purchase a lot of tickets. And then me and my wife will enjoy "scratching" the ticket and see if we won or not.

If by chance we won big, then it's going to be a big treat, hehehe.

But if it's break even, still good though, at least we still have some money to buy the next day or when we have a chance,  Grin.

What’s your largest win so far on this scratch card. I’m kinda got addicted and try again today but I have no luck with 5 cards. I just knew this to my coworker because he keeps playing this whenever we go to the mall but I never saw him won above 500php while he spending almost 1000php whenever he play during our payday at work.

I want to try too other scratch cards by pcso. I just want to start on the banana because it’s really calling me to scratch him badly. The smell of scratch card is really so addictive.

I will post here once I’ve got a juicy win which I already feel tomorrow. Wink

I've once won 10 EUR on a 1 EUR scratch card. The thing is by now the price has been increased and the minimum is 2 EUR for the same winnings.
Scratch games are a bit weird. They have a very low RTP, usually they won't pay back more than 70%. And in that percentage they need to pay the venue as well as the game maker. You'd have better chances winning playing something like a sports bet even.

So for me scratch cards are only worth it if you for some reason want an instant result. But if you're on a gambling shop, keno has draws every 5 or so minutes with a higher RTP for most combinations usually, depending on the provider. Scratch cards tend to have better RTP at higher tickets but not always. It's tricky. If you look into the numbers you suddenly realize it's one of the least favorable games for the player. The only reason I'm profitable with scratch cards therefore is that I haven't touched them since I won 10 EUR.  Cheesy

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?
Here we call them "raspadinhas". I remember playing these scratch tickets when I was a child, when my parents bought it and gave it to me to scratch off. Just like you, it was possible to hit the minimum prizes quite often. Converting to current rates, let's say each ticket priced 0,20$, so it was common to earn at least 0,10$ or 0,20$ after scratching off. I think the maximum I've earned from it was 1$, but that was something which hardly happened.

The scratch tickets were designed this way to keep the gambler fascinated about the results, since he is able to get something from it quite often. However, the chances are still against him on long run. Even though we are able to recover the ticket's price by scratching it, at some point you will still get some tickets without any prize on them. So you will be slowly accumulating losses on long run. The big prizes such as hundreds of dollars, cars, houses and monthly wages (usually offered for a year time period) come once in a million...

About brands, I don't remember about it anymore. It was a long time ago and I lost interest on such games since then. And I think there wasn't a fixed brand. It seems it has been constantly changing along the time.

I never had a luck on scratch-off tickets(winning a huge amount), so I long abandoned playing this one.  I also find it boring due to the monotonous routine of buying scratching ,buying scratching, the result should be the determining factor but I also find it bland since most of the time only a few tickets among the sold one has a better winning multiplier and the idea of a fixed result can't get out of my head.

We all know that these tickets are printed and the reward is already in there, I am a bit paranoid and thinks that they(game provider) have control of the entirety of the game.  Maybe others find it exciting but upon thinking of those possibilities, I started avoiding these scratch-off games like a plague.

Your win-lose-repeat cycle is a real-time gambler's fallacy. Exciting? Sure. Rational? Hardly. Each ticket is unique, unaffected by its predecessors. You're buying a statistically doomed dream. Humans are wired to find patterns and make connections where none exist. After two wins, you feel a streak coming on. Let's clarify: the ticket seller always wins this game. The odds are carefully set to assure profit, with a few victories to keep optimism alive

How much has anyone won? There are tales of big wins and lucky breaks. These are exceptions amid a sea of losses. The ticket brand? Irrelevant. It's a bet in a game where the house has painstakingly measured the table. The positive takeaway? Play for fun, not profit. Understanding the odds and psychology may help you enjoy the journey without thinking it's just a short-term distraction

It’s been long I played a scratch off ticket don’t know if the concept are the same but back then, we’ll have to buy some tickets for a little amount of money and then the ticket gives us chance to choose and select a random number to qualify you to winning a gift item from the available items but from my personal observations as a kid then, I quickly realized that, those items were very difficult to claim and at some points, I felt there were some tricks and didn’t think the entire process of the was plain as it was structured to only extort money from innocent gamblers which isn’t right.

@op, I wouldn’t mind you giving some details how the scratch off games works and a little advice that you shouldn’t make the gas station your new home as that possibly might lead to addiction 😎
Scratch offs worked in my younger days, but as at now, Stuff doesn't work, I hardly see them around. I think they experienced less patronage and went out of business, or limited themselves to only a few selected areas to operate. I haven't seen them in a long time.

I'll like to know if there's an online version of it, these games are fun. I remember when we do try out our luck during church bazaars or with our lunch money sometimes on our way back from school. I think an online version will bring the games back alive and restore the fun we had back then. The only problem is addiction, but anyone who can control themselves in casino gambling can apply same discipline in the scratch off games as well.

As for your question, the most I've ever won on a scratch-off ticket was i think around $50 haha It was a pleasant surprise though I haven't had much luck since then. Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?

Haha there is this funny story that I want to share about scratch off tickets:

Back in 2015, my brother loves to gamble to the point that he almost relies on it for his monthly savings. Since having money was very limited to us given that we were raised by a single father, my brother wanted to explore all possibilities of earning money in order to fund his weekly expenditures.

One day, we wanted to try the lottery but after seeing the line, we stopped and went back to looking for casinos. But upon visiting another lottery store, we found that they were selling lottery and scratch off tickets. So my brother tried the lottery and I was the one who purchased the SOT. Before that, my brother did not believe on the integrity of these tickets- he said that the chances of a person winning is very slim, which is somehow similar to hitting the lottery.

Long story short, I tried the SO and I won $100 in which my brother borrowed my money to bet. It was a good day for us since the money that he borrowed from me made him win $200. So at the end, we both walked away with $100 on our pockets!

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?
Im not really that too much into scratch cards on trying out to win something but on the time that i do go into groceries on which there's some lottery outlet nearby then i do really able to see  that
outlet and see those cards on which i do always think about on getting 2 or 3 pcs and based up on how much i do win then not really that much. The biggest is about $10 as far as i remember and the ticket
cost is about $0.2.Its not really that bad but when it comes to the total counts of losing or zero win cards then i have tons. When it comes to purchasing then this is the only time that
i do go to groceries.

Im not really that expecting that much but for the sake of curiosity then i would really be having those kind of approach when it comes to purchasing those scratch cards.
I've seen someone though in the neighborhood did really get some significant prizes but well all matters on how lucky you are.

Maybe filling the curiosity will be the reason why people play many times.

be careful with scratch tickets. the same thing happened to me in the past and the only difference is that I bought the scratch ticket on a lottery booth. after betting on a lotto ticket I decided to try my luck on scratch tickets, I kept winning either the buy amount of the scratch ticket or 2x the amount and before I knew it I was buying scratch tickets on an almost daily basis(usually every time I bet on lottery). I am glad I got over buying scratch tickets, thinking back I think I am on loss profit.

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?
one thousand pesos which is around 18 dollars on today's conversion rate. the brand was "go bananas", it is one of the popular scratch tickets in the country.

You won a small amount twice you could have tried your hand at something bigger today. I have never been that lucky to win a small amount and in the past I did try the lotteries that we had in our country but it was always a disaster for me. We did not have such a small amount of scratch-offs or a small amount of lottery tickets it was always the bigger one and the results were out every week. We did have such scratch-offs for other things related to utility but they were also not good for me.

We call it down here scratch and win. It is always fun to pick the ticket and you are eager to see the price in it. I was lucky on this scratch off ticket, that I won a good amount of money. My friend Shile will also tell me to accompany him to the mall, because he hates going alone, and he will tell me that he is doing it for fun. He gets lucky sometimes, and he will win, but sometimes he will lose.

I decided to go there myself one day, and I scratch off the tickets twice and I won, I started going there and one day I scratch more than 10 cards with no win. It funny part is that the money wasn't mine that I used, because as a student then it is hard to have such amount of money that I gambled away. I was deprived by may parents from going out because it was during the holidays. Those scratch off tickets are very tempting OP, so be careful and don't get carried away with it.

maybe people are not always lucky when playing it, or perhaps most don't know about it. people are more focused on football, NBA, boxing and wrestling, tennis and other but don Focus much on it. maybe from this thread you will understand the reason behind that.

So I used that winner ticket to go and buy another ticket, and guess what!? The same thing happened again and I won one lol.
you are pretty lucky to have won the second time I guest it was your day. for me I have seen this scratch card ticket games on YouTube and other places but never knew much about it, but I guest I will try to study and know more about it. but what I don't really know if this game is only done physically or can be done online and offline?

I like playing this back in the day whenever I bumped into a station where it is being sold. But the only problem is I have not been able to get lucky scratching with a good prize in it. Not even an ROI. Cheesy Maybe I should try buying more, because most of the time I just buy one and scratch it there while waiting. I don't do it fast, I want it to be more exciting so I take my time and slowly peel away those silver thing that is covering the images.
It is a fun game but let us still gamble responsibly as this can also be an addictive habit especially if we are to lose a lot of money.

I did this with my friend long time ago and it was just like we're passerbys and to think that we might multiply our money as our minds were still too young during that time, we're fooled by our own thoughts.

Just as you, we didn't win that much and it's always like a break even and most likely, we get nothing from scratch cards that we've got. Anyway, I hope that luck is within you and you'd win $20 or more with those scratches that you'll purchase.

Don't expect a lot with it and I hope that you'll be able to control yourself with it because you might get coming back when your emotions are too high with already.

How much are we talking here? For a $1 bet for a ticket, I'm expecting it coudl be $200 or more?

This kind of game is for fun only, the chance of winning is very slim, just like a lottery ticket, so I'd say you were lucky that time but eventually the law of average will sink if you keep buying scratch off tickets. Have fun anyway, I'm wishing you more success but the other side of me is getting real, I know you'll eventually loss, unless you hit a jackpot, a significant amount that would change your life.

Me personally, I've won like $200 equivalent in our money, but did only twice. Never tried it again as I believe lightning does not strike on the same place twice.

I used to buy those scratch tickets but I have never got lucky with those. I have hardly made any money with those tickets, most of those were losses and nothing else. But, it was a fun activity for me and that's why I always used to spend some money on such scratch tickets.

If I remember correctly, the highest I made with a cheap ticket was around $0.8, but the feeling was still good because I thought that at least I have won a ticket. I don't spend any money on scratch tickets anymore because I don't enjoy such type of luck testing anymore.

Well, I also play scratch it, and my main purpose is to enjoy it because I enjoy playing it, but yeah, I don't expect to win because I know that I'm not in luck with this kind of thing, so I just enjoy myself. But I experienced one time that I won a lot in one scratch. I ended up buying more, but of course I secured some profit, so even if I lose those three tickets, I still go home with money.

In my country, scratching is also a hobby for most people because, why not? It's cheap, fun to play, and of course, simple, so even children or the elderly are still playing those tickets, and I don't see anything wrong with that; it just has a risk of someone becoming addicted, and someone will waste a lot of money on that, hoping to win, but we all know winning is too little to scratch.

We have different scratch cards here in our country.
The bananas and Lucky 7's go for 20 pesos which is nearly $0.40. The other scratch cards cost 50 pesos which is $1 per card. My wife loves playing that more expensive card.
The highest we have won is $10 = 500 pesos from the 50 pesos scratch. In the Lucky 7 scratch card, I won 700 pesos which is like $14.
But that was when my wife was still pregnant with my first kid. She believes she is lucky whenever she is pregnant which is why we do that. Recently, we tried again, but we ain't winning anything anymore. I've lost $10 worth of different scratch cards and we won only the minimum amounts.
There was even a time when we were only the ones buying the cards and then suddenly one guy popped out and bought too and he got the $6 winning card. I was supposed to get that if we continued playing.

I will share my wins whenever we get a chance to buy again next time.

So while we are on the discussion and topic of gambling, I wonder if there has every been a scratch off ticket thread?

I was at the gas station today and I said screw it lets get two $1 scratch of tix because why not.

I really hate winning my money back if I buy a lottery ticket. I'd rather be a winner or a loser. If you get your money back, you didn't really win anything. As far as the biggest amount I have won on a ticket, $500 1 time is it. The lottery is so hard to beat.

Sometimes luck are like this it happens like magic but when it hit hard on you you might regret using the previously won amount to go get another ticket.

Indirectly you are beginning to apply greed which is not good and it kills so quickly why not space for long period of time before buying another ticket or have you reason the implication of what that might cause you? Either you lose both winning or what?

I don't think I have win something reasonable before in such thing except for the day I went buying my baby's Diaper and wipe, and there was a kind of scratch off ticket stick on the pack and I have to scratch to know what is in there and I won a key holder and a 10 pieces wipe additional. I wasn't pushed to buy additional items because I know it's very difficult to secure something tangible from those products.

I remember trying them a few times in the past, but either I didn't win anything or just the refund, something like that. I think they have gone out of fashion, probably because of the rise of online games and even if you can find them somewhere, I don't think they occupy a very significant market share.

Scratch offs were actually easy and cool luck base gamble. Even till date, several big brands like Coca-Cola still have scratch-and-win promos, which employs the same principles as those of physical casinos that made it a business.  Unfortunately,  I have not been lucky to win scratch offs in the past.

I don't know if such can be implemented in online casinos but I feel we already have so many options that are similar in principle to scratch offs.

I haven't seen a scratch-off in years...

Scratch offs were the form of instant lottery of the pre-internet era. Today you can still find some, but with the variety of instant bets available on cell phones, they have lost their meaning. I remember hearing at the time that due to the immediacy they had a higher risk of leading to addictive behaviors than regular lottery tickets but now the risk has moved to mobile.

I haven't seen a scratch-off in years, I think it's something that had its moment at least in my country, I haven't gotten them again in the lottery format, but at the time they were even available in McDonald's or any type of promotions.

It became so popular that the online world also existed, I think it was Poker Star that had them in their digital format, and by scratching you got tournament tickets, dollars and the "try again".

When I was a student, I and my friends would usually buy a scratch ticket whenever we go to the mall where these are available. It was a lot of fun. We were students so we don't have much money. We can only chip in to buy a single ticket. We assign slots for each one to scratch. The most that we won was, just like yours, a new ticket. It was quick but fun. Those memories still remain with me until now.

I cannot remember which particular tickets we bought. I'm not anymore buying them today but I can remember there was a lucky 7 ticket, the one with the banana, another with the monkey, and so on. This is a government-run gambling business.

Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?

Lucky you, it was just local but unfortunately, I haven't had that luck that you have. But from time to time me and my wife if we see some outlets that sell of scratch off tickets, we call it here ScratchIt.

Not bad though, at least you might have found some new games to enjoy, or maybe this is what we call beginner's luck? So just be careful with it, as you might fall for that trap and go back to that gas station very often even if you filled your gas tank already. Grin

Yes ours is the Florida Lotteryand other scratch off names so they have so many differnt kinds of stuff as far as scratch off goes, I want to say at a typical gas station here there are 30 varieties or more!!! Pretty wild stuff lol.

@op, I wouldn’t mind you giving some details how the scratch off games works and a little advice that you shouldn’t make the gas station your new home as that possibly might lead to addiction 😎

Definitely going to have to agree with both of you, I won't be going back very often to buy more scatch offs because I don't want to become addicted. I think what I will be doing from now on though is that I will save all of my change and use the spare change I find to pay for any more scratch offs! Typically I just go with the $1 ones. But maybe I shhould go for 2 .
