290 will get you 800-850 khs, mighty hot though

worse perf/$ than 280x but better resale value

290x i get about 900kh (38¢/hash if card 346€)
280x i get about 750kh (38¢/hash if card 285€)

290x @ 290w @ 900kh = 0.32w/hash

280x @ 250w @ 750kh = 0.33w/hash

pretty much a tossup.  i have more 280x than 290x, but around where i live, the 290x is ~166% the price of a 280x.

if you are running an open rig, then i'd get the 290x.  if you will be running where heat will be a factor, the 280x does produce less heat.

lastly, can you even get the cards?  i am buying 290x and 270x (450khash) right now becuase i can't get 280x.  you may not have the choice if e-key is sold out like the rest of the world.

suggest you buy what's available right now, and start mining as soon as you can.  even a week delay makes a difference in your return.

go cheap cheap cheap!

- find used hdd if possible; don't need an SSD.
- get a single core sempron 145 if possible; don't need the dual cores.

- power risers optional until you get to card 4, but powerred risers won't hurt.

you are missing fans.  i bought a crapload of case fans; even if you have a big house fan i'd recommend stocking up on 5v or 12v fans; cheap to have around.

All that gear is fine, get whats cheapest. You dont need a UPS. It will make  your rig more stable but if you have your rig set to automatically start mining when the power cuts out and comes back on the UPS might not restart, my APC UPS did NOT restart my rig . I removed my UPS from my rig for this reason

wich one is better in your opionion? I'm missing something besides risers and UPS? Risers have to be powered? UPS is mandatory?

Thank you for your responses Smiley
