What he said. The code itself isn't virulent, it has just been used in virulent software and now all the virus scanners go batshit when they spot it. Trusted source = no problem.

A lot of bitcoin related software has been marked as "trojan" by antivirus companies because these modules/programs have been frequently included in botnets and viruses in effort to get compromised computers to do the mining (for botnets).

This was true for regular miners such as guiminer etc.

Make sure your link comes from a credible source. If it does, i wouldn't worry about this.

There must be some software out there that does not look like a virus/trojon,  That can do the same job as minerd.exe
A lot of people are having problems with this piece of software.  How do we really know this is NOT a problem program??

Okay, it seems my antivirus isn't letting me begin mining.  Sad

'Eff it all, I'm just gonna buy bitcoins and exchange them for litecoins somewhere else.  Undecided

From what I've heard, minerd looks like a Trojon/virus payload software.  But there is nothing to worry about, see if your anti-virus software let's you mark it as safe.
Do more searching on here about it.  If you still unsure, don't use it.
I just checked the cryptojunkie article and it says it's okay to use. I'll give it a whirl, then.

I read somewhere that it is a legitimate warning.
I did a quick search. Apparently others have had the same issue.  Sad

I just downloaded the GUI scryptminer and my antivirus is saying that there is a trojan in the minerd file. Does anybody else have this problem? Should I just ignore it?
