I don't know if the result is an output of any activities from the forum, with local word of "Bitcoin Forum" I got the bitcointalk forum at the 1st place which I didn’t get before this time I think. And with local word of "bitcoin" I got bitcoin.org after the wikipedia and local article. That's a great change I think.

Well if you search it in English it works fine, but this thread is about the searching of the forum in other languajes, that's where we have the issue... For example, if i search it in spanish i get the next results on google:

Quote
Foro de Bitcoin

As you can see, the forum doesn't come in the first page, and this happens to other languajes too... That's why i started the thread some months ago.

hmph..
By the way, as far as i know, Meta Keywords is not important for SEO,  Google, Bing and Yahoo no longer include this tag anymore. One factor this tag removed is because many website using this to make a spam keywords. The best way to optimize keywords on meta currently focus on Meta Description and Title.

I no longer own bitcoinbangladesh.info domain.
Another problem-
When people search for bitcoin wallet, they get an article where coinbase is suggested as a wallet, which is so misguided.
This one is the major problem as for now. In my local facebook group, I am bored of hearing coinbase/blockchain is the best wallet. If by any way, they can be brought here, they would never be misguided.
There's no video in Bengali in facebook which describes what actually bitcoin is. I have thought to create video but because of my safety, I gave up.

When we go to google and search in Spanish 'Foro de bitcoin' ....
But when I tried to use this phrase in google to search 'Foro de bitcoin spanish ', it shows on the first result the Español (Spanish) - Bitcointalk board. It still seems redundant once you already put 'Foro de bitcoin' and add a 'spanish' keyword. Because when I have to search a particular topic on our local board, I am using these kinds of the keyword on Google search.

So, once @seoincorporation's proposal will be implemented, also all of the local boards will be changed too or only some including Spanish board?

I tought local board moderators were in charge of those kind of translations already....
As far as I know moderators in the local sections don't have permission to edit the titles of the local sections, and they have the same permissions as normal moderators. They can only delete, and move. They can also only nuke certain users. Global moderators still handle bans for those that can't be nuked, and temporary bans.

Local section moderators can probably create stickies, but when it comes to SEO that will likely be a admin related permission.

You are probably right, if local mods can do it then OP wouldn't brought this up in the meta section in the first place. I know back then that local mods are not even allowed to create their own childboard within their local board and big changes like that for the local board should be brought up to the admins. It's the same thing for this title change as simpley they don't have the power to do so.

My bad; I meant oficial/forum related translations, not SEO or title editing. As if theymos created a thread on a staff only board, and each local mod translated it to his language; so that theymos can later on copy paste it. And yes, local mods can also create stickies

Already showed support on original thread; showing it again here  Wink

Seems to be a pretty good idea, and its a fairly easy change to make as long as we've got people to translate all of the local sections. I'm sure that's the only reason why it hasn't been done from the start, but hopefully now our user count is big enough we can get some accurate translations.

If this change is approved in all local sections, the impact on visits to Bitcointalk will have a considerable increase and also in new registrations, of course.
Would likely have positive effects to our local section population, and the need for locally speaking moderators would likely rise too. Some of the local sections are pretty abandoned compared to the rest of the forum, and the popular languages like Spanish, and Chinese get a fair amount of posts.

(Maybe we'll get some Welsh speakers soon? No? okay then)

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
I’ve just searched the terms “foro bitcoin” on google.es, google.com.ar, google.com.mx and google.com.pe (to try a few Spanish related locales) and all show bitcointalk on the second page. What’s more, they all show Forobits.com as the first entry on the first page, being that forum pretty active in comparison to our local forum.

Adjustments in SEO could be part of the solution, although even direct search favours Forobits.com in Spain (see https://trends.google.es/trends/explore?geo=ES&q=forobits,bitcointalk,foro%20bitcoin).

It will be great if on the new forum, admins and mods will resolve this SEO issues so that users can search in all local languages.
Very good suggestion, thank you for sharing.

In our local language, it's not possible to get bitcointalk by searching any local keywords, same here. People get some poor article when they search with ”বিটকয়েন" (bitcoin). This is one of a major problem for our local people who are interested in bitcoin.

Keywords for my local-

If he does that, here is one for the Portuguese board. Pretty similar with yours (spanish and portuguese are close) but a little bit different. Smiley

Code:

Code:
Português (Portuguese) - Fórum de Bitcoin

The past week ago i started a topic in the Spanish local section with a SEO proposal and people there take it as a good idea, that's why i decided to post it here.

The Issue... When we go to google and search in Spanish 'Foro de bitcoin' we will not see this forum in the first page, and that's because the page title on the Spanish section is:

Code:
Español (Spanish)

So, my proposal was to change that for:

Code:
Español (Spanish) - Foro de Bitcoin

Another change i suggested was with the meta keywords, from:

Code:

To:

Code:

This is only for the Spanish section, but I'm sure the other language sections have the same SEO issues.

I know the new forum is on the way, so, if we can't make these changes for this forum, please consider them for the next software.
