SEC is tightening because of the constant increase of ICO's scams, with a sensible desire for scammer's greed. The ICO's will not lose it will continue, maybe the SEC is actually just a strict only! For now ETF postponed until 27th of february, but this is not the final decisions maybe another extensions. Lets see

Hopefully ETF be approved and by then, let's continue to have faith that their is a positive outcome on the decision of SEC to approve it. There are many aspects to consider though, scam ICO is osne of it and I think they would find a way to minimize if not terminate those scumbags.

As far as I know the February date is the set as the final decision for SEC to whether approved or reject it. So there's no more extension on it. Bitcoin ETF has nothing to do with ICO as they're no correlation. SEC postponement may have something to do with studying the viability of a Bitcoin ETF because we all know that the market is prone to manipulation so let's see what happens on the end of Feb next year.

I think that the SEC have been having a bad rep about bein an anti Crypto currency entity and all that jazz. But i believe that the SEC is just protecting people from fraudulent transactions and investments that caused the mortage crash of 2008. Then again, i hope that I'm telling you is true and that is their goal.

I think what ever SEC is doing , it is betterment for the crypto. If the crypto is regulated every where, it will be much better and more people and institute will then invest in it. I hope next year will be much better year for digital currencies.

November 5th is not the time for SEC to decide on anything, november 5th is just the date public can sumbit their requests and information to the SEC about the ETF's and it is the deadline for applying, after that date all is given to them and they have all the information regarding the situation to decide.

29TH december is the date SEC will have time to decide for these things, they can decide earlier as well if they want but have you seen a government employee work overtime to give anyone a quicker response? If I know government workers at all if it says they have time until 29th december to decide than they will most likely decide on 29th december, maaaaybe couple days earlier before christmas but thats it. Which means we still have one and a half month until we get an answer from them.

SEC will close the comments on CBOE ETF on November 5th, after this day they can reject, postpone or deny the ETF, in your opinion what will happen? if the ETF is rejected BAKKT will be able to push the prices up?, we have to keep in mind that the SEC is still analyzing all rejected ETFS again, is that a good sign? The next 3 months are the most important in the history of Bitcoin and it can start a new Bull Run, I'm almost having a stroke with this novel, Bitcoin more than 10K until December? share yours thoughts.
Bitcoin will not rise up even December comes in. Many people expect a price hiking yet, it may not happen in this year. But because of the delaying moments of SEC, the price of bitcoin is also hard to go up. More 3 months to go then another 3 months before bull run start. But still I am hoping for another pump before this year ends.
means we have to be more patient to wait for the big news to happen, so we can see bullrun happening. at least now there is a small surge after November 5 yesterday. and hopefully the investors will soon recover their trust in entering market

It is a good sign that they are reviewing those rejected ETF's, it's either they really giving consideration to push those ETF's or it's also a sign that the news I've heard that there are people from SEC that are pro bitcoin.
i hope for your number 2 option. With such support, we hope that the BTC price will return to normal, during this year we have been saturated with a downward trend, but for December, if it can reach $ 10,000, i think it is a good achievement
Whether its the first or second thing that I've made this really don't have anything to do with the market anymore.

Look what happened with November 5?  Grin

Honestly, I have not heard that the SEC decision will be today.

5 November was only the deadline for public comments. Sometime after that date SEC will come to a decision.
Also, it's not about the VanEck/SolidX ETF, it's about the 9 ETFs (Direxion, GraniteShares, ProShares) they rejected and then decided to re-review them.

I was one of those who fell for the trap of believing that it was 5th of November when Sec would declare the fate of those 9 ETFs, I was way to excited to read the fine print. Well now that time for public comments has passed away I think it'll take few weeks till we hear from the Sec, I believe the sentiments from the public has been positive but my question is will it be enough to change Sec initial verdict.

If public sentiments was used as a criteria for the SEC's approvals, then I think all the ETF applications would have long been approved, maybe if not all, but most of it. There are parameters used but I doubt public sentiments is one of them.

In recent months only their name is spoken, but we could not see a movement. Now I am starting to think that they act like this to keep the price constant. I don't care what their decisions will be, just I wait for their decision. Already the last price will be what we want.
The thing is that only their name will be spoken, but I doubt even if we see any rejection, postponement (which is the side I am drifting towards anyway), or acceptance, I am pretty sure the market will somehow still find a way to react on its own.

We have been hearing this over and over again for a while now, and with all that has been going on, I feel our pre-empt to that area is becoming too boring already, and however the market wants to come, at this point, I doubt if anyone will really care.

SEC has been dragging these for a while now, and it is no longer anything new and once something has happened over and over again with the market not really being affected hugely as a lot of people keep saying, I doubt if this should even be any factor worth looking at.

Any result or price movement in either direction will be of our own doing. People keep on up about the SEC and how ETFs will save us that it will just lead to a big wave of FOMO if the SEC do approve any ETF. There won't be any rapid organic growth, even if one is approved it will take some time to actually be set up and begin trading.

I am also very optimistic about the bitcoin and cryptocurrency market bull run. It is about ten months already in the market dip; the bull run is very much around the corner! The bitcoin can possibly hit the 10k$ mark in no time by December.

I`m not an expert, but can someone clarify things for me, what SEC have with the crypto-world outside U.S.?
People talk like it will give some legitimacy cause it coming from U.S.

It probably would give cryptocurrency some legitimacy. Regulator approval is a big sign of legitimacy for mainstream and institutional investors, particularly in a financial hub like the United States.

But it won't make or break anything. If the SEC never approves an ETF, Bitcoin will keep trucking on like nothing ever happened.

They have nothing directly to do with crypto away from the US, just many countries look to the US as an example, as well as it being one of the largest global markets. Bitcoin is already on a negative footing in China, if it can gain more legitimacy and support in the US that will help out some. I don't see any significant price movement on either decision, perhaps a panic buy or sell either way but then a return to the normal pattern.

The thing is that it is much more profitable if you can time well your buys with these news. I have a positive feeling... a couple of days of strong greens in many coins and many people are expecting a good decision.

For a while now, I have never really had the impression that ETF is any driving factor for the market at all, except that people are probably just looking for a means to at least attach the market movement to something. However, the SEC decision on the ETF is going to end up coming into play, I know the market will still end up doing whatever it wants to do.

I know a lot of people are anticipating to see the market take a movement eventually, but for now, I am beginning to actually tend towards the bull irrespective of some of these news, in as much as fundamental is not even something I will consider as something to look at much any longer, but one way or the other, I know we will just have to wait and see how things will turn out anyway.

I found an interesting article about this here: https://hackernoon.com/cboebitcoinetf-53992ec38a70

According to them there may be a price surge for bitcoin between 76% and 318% (similar to what is was for gold).

Let's hope they're right and bitcoin will start to skyrocket like it did last year Smiley

The Gold comparison threw me off. There's no way that we can see a price surge that high. Bitcoin investors are smarter than we think, and there's no way that they will just put their money on the market because of ETF's, in my opinion.

It will be the case of wait and see attitude. As I have said, they matured enough to distinguished what is FOMO and when to take profit at the right time. I'm not saying it will not push the price, but its hard to overcome the current sentiments that we have. Investor gets tired "waiting" for SEC to approve/disapprove the ETF's and the excitement has waned down.

Honestly, I have not heard that the SEC decision will be today. It would be great if this decision is positive and could affect the change in trend. If the decision is transferred again, the situation will not change.
The problem is that I am almost certain that the sec will not say anything at all. Neither accepting the etf nor delaying it. The reason for that is the fact that the decision has to be commented AFTER the 5th of November. Don't know what is all the hype about. After 5th of November can be in a day, a week or a year. If the sec doesn't announce anything in a week my prediction would be a small dump.

Link where it says that the decision has to be after 5th:

And today is November 5 in my own time zone while in some other places, it could have been November 6 and yet, I have not seen any significant change to price of bitcoin as a result of this SEC decision. I have come to realize that crypto enthusiasts are even the one that cause the panic that happens in the community. SEC commissioners have probably made the decision at the point of submission while they postpone in other to satisfy all odds while we are here speculating and panicking over ready made decisions.

world, why would we wait their permission, who is waiting for that anyway, I don`t.

I'm definitely not waiting for their permission. I think a lot of coiners are just antsy and greedy and hoping for a catalyst that will pump their bags. A lot of people think we need good news for price to rise; I think we just need time.

I heard CBOE ETF to be announced on Feb next year?  Anyways regardless of the decision, i think Bitcoin and digital currency are here to stay. They might get a temporary dump or backward push, but all in all, bitcoin will move up regardless of the SEC decision.

It seems a lot of people are optimistic for a SEC go ahead on ETFs but I think that they'll decline the applications once again, as you said - the fact they're still considering previous applications is promising and I think we'll see one accepted sooner rather than later. I think there are some signs of bullishness in the market but until certain resistance levels are broken the market should still be considered bearish.

That's pretty silly. Gold was in a raging bull market before the ETF was approved. There's no evidence the ETF caused those gains.

Bitcoin is definitely not in a bull market, so the comparison to gold doesn't apply. Even if it did, Bitcoin and gold have very different supply/demand dynamics. The gains could far surpass 318% in the case Bitcoin.

I doubt we'll see an ETF anytime soon. Give it a couple years.......better to have it launch in a bull market anyway.

The big day is here and like everyone I'm holding my breath for the announcement to be made by Sec in regards to bitcoins etf. As much as I would love to see an approval coming, I'm sensing it might not be approved after all, bitcoins prices have been sluggish in the build up, there's hardly any voices in the community sounding confident on it's approvals. I do feel that Bakkt has the potential to impact the market prices, however it'll need time to do so.

I think the SEC will not be able to return to the Crypto market. This is a decentralized market and every transaction is anonymous. and that is the nature of the market. we can not change. So if the SEC is involved in our market, they will not be able to identify anything.

I'm already tired of hearing this. I don't really care that much now because it has been a bad year for Bitcoin. The result will still the same no matter their decision. If they approve it, then that's good, if they don't then it's still good. I think they only delay this because they want to control Bitcoin.

SEC decision regarding bitcoin and ETF, I think it is a bull run starting point, but if the SEC decides to reject it, then the BTC price will remain at 6k USD
By the way, is there an update on ETFs? It's November 5th, bro

We should certainly not put all of our faith into SEC accepting a bitcoin ETF. I mean it would be amazing if they did accept it but if they do not accept it than we should not be sad about it. There is still merit in getting a bitcoin ETF rejected as well. At least we are moving further with it and getting rejected, I honestly believe getting rejected is better than not existing at all. Would have been much better if there was no ETF that suppose to get rejected/accepted, so it is better than nothing, literally. This is why I want as many ETF offers as possible, don't care if they get accepted or not but as long as they exist and offer it than I am fine with it. SEC can reject only so many of them, eventually they will have to accept one of them and that will change a lot.

I second this. At this point I feel like it's either getting rejected again or postponed. Right now since we don't have a lot of eyeballs of the mainstream attention we should take the opportunity to work hard on the technologies and stop worrying too much about price action, bull runs or desperately getting an ETF accepted, Let's put our efforts to making this environment grow and mature that way I'm sure an ETF will be accepted at some point in the future.

Wow that's what people waited for,lm excited for the bull run lm going to monitor it and 'be happy for the good news to have hope in future months for the bull run.

Now such a state of the market, that in the near future it should grow vseravno, Kskoye, would not have made the decision SEC. This decision may speed up or slow down this process a bit. For now, the whole intrigue is whether Bitcoin will grow before the New Year, which would be desirable for a quick recovery of the cryptocurrency market, or as early as 2019, but the stagnation of the market may then still be delayed, and taking into account various processes - for a long time.

i'm guessing it'll be denied, as the "godfather of ETFs" suggests: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/02112018-godfather-of-etfs-regulators-wont-approve-bitcoin-etf-anytime-5062376

this is a very nascent market, a brand new class of assets, with exchanges distributed around the world under very different regulatory standards. i think their stated concerns about manipulation are fairly legitimate when you consider the market position of bitmex, okex, bitfinex and other opaque but high volume exchanges.

i wouldn't count on bakkt to push prices up.

Last August and September, this SEC decision on ETF somehow affected the mind set of the investors. Now, they are so numb about this. It means that investors will not be affected negativlely by SEC rejecting ETH. However, a positive decision might bring more trust from the investors leading to a bullish market.

This topic has been spoken for a long time and people wait for a positive decision about ETF  and my idea is SEC will except  ETF and after this decision bitcoin price will rise very fast. I am very hopeful about it.

In recent months only their name is spoken, but we could not see a movement. Now I am starting to think that they act like this to keep the price constant. I don't care what their decisions will be, just I wait for their decision. Already the last price will be what we want.
