Virtual machine won't do much If your host gets infected. I would rather get Tails or some other Linux distribution and setup it on an air-gapped old laptop. If you don't have any old hardware and have lots of BTC then consider buying a hardware wallet which will always work without exposing your private keys, even on infected computer. Both Trezor and Ledger are great choice.

You want to protect the to VHD from Windows? you could use Bitlocker I believe but honestly, you won't be doing much as some malware can go to your virtual machine. I would suggest investing in a cheap hardware wallet like Ledger nano S, It definitely worth it.

Hi Guys
I just know the basics of virtualization, its not my specialty by any means. But if I install a Ubuntu VM on my windows PC, how can I encrypt or protect the VHD which would contain my wallets? I do not have the funds to buy an additional offline PC, but I reckon using a VM will give me extra security.

Would this protect my online wallets even from keyloggers that may exist on my windows installation?
Any tips on securing that virtual hard drive would be very welcome.
