I'm gonna dox QS.

There I did it.

Oh, no. My picture is on the internet! Was that your tracking device I found in my sleeve?

Please remove my dox.

Posting someone's photograph would make it easy for anyone who gets hands on it to reach the person's physical location which makes it qualify under the doxing rule for sure.

I know that nearly all forum members are in that picture. I am not sure if we have any astronaut forum members, so I don’t if if all of them are in that picture.

How high of a resolution would that picture have to be?      There is no one in that picture you posted.   Maybe one on a Chinese supercomputer, but not here.
They are in the picture. Just because your computer lacks the processing power to see individual forum members doesn’t mean they aren’t there.  Tongue

Btw, the image lacks the rendering power to show the user's as clear as they could be doxxed, so I don't think posting that image is equal to doxing the whole forum.

I guess I just dox’ed the entire forum.

Can you identify even one forum member from that photograph?

Since your picture is only of most of the Western Hemisphere, their are many users who are left out. Perhaps you should use an animated gif that rotates the Earth. Also, if people were inside, where they would be covered from view of the camera in space, they wouldn't be doxed, either.
I doxed the rest of the forum for you. All the astronauts are safe, for now at least.

Hopefully no one will quote this post and then complain anytime someone reposts this picture.

The OP of that thread was nuked. Nothing personal.

Well, I'm not sure if setting up a dubious web page wanting to gather donations for a certain charity constitutes rock solid evidence for theft; however, if that particular user ever admits that is a picture of him, then his new account will be banned because that particular person has been permanently banned from the forum. BTW, the original user posted a link to the web page gathering donations (now deleted) and you can find the link to that picture of the founder, there. Need more info? DYOR by starting with this thread. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ban-evasion-falseflagger-alt-of-humanrightsfoundation-5194247
Also, I doubt the picture is really the person behind the dubious web page. If it is, either the webpage is 100% legit or the potential scammer is a complete idiot.

It is.  He doxxed himself: https://humanrights.foundation/founder.html

Thanks for trying to convince him he could get me banned from the forum TECSHARE.

After doing more of my own research, I see Theymos himself opened up an investigation thread on this guy. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--5179710 Well, his new incarnation was nuked and you are still here. Hopefully, Tecshare won't open up a new thread wondering why his post was deleted. The answer: The OP of that thread was nuked. Nothing personal.

I got that impression, but it was not explicitly mentioned so I figured it would be good to ask. To be clear I am not planning to dox anyone, I find it to be a repugnant act unless there is rock solid evidence of theft. Even then, it may be questionable under certain circumstances.

Does this mean that I will get in trouble for posting this picture?

The start of #2 on your highlighted text shows that doesn't it?

How would using someone's photo and unmasking their identity not come across as being used just as a weapon?

1. Personal information must be confined to the new "investigations" board (under Scam Accusations), which is only visible to Members and above. Personal information is defined as anything which links a user's online identity (username, email, etc.) to their meatspace identity, excluding links that the person himself has posted. It is not allowed to post somebody's personal information in any other public place, including in signatures.
2. It is not allowed to post someone's dox if it is especially obvious that you're just using the dox as a weapon. For example, if there are no remotely-plausible trade complaints, then the person can't be a scammer, and their dox should not be posted.
3. As before, anything that the legacy insecure government/banking system requires to be secret is not allowed anywhere. This includes social security numbers, credit card numbers, and certain account numbers.

This is why I ask. The language used here seems to indicate that a photograph of a user would qualify as something linking a users "meatspace" identity with their username.

What sort of stuff are we talking?

I'd say:
1. If it's in the public domain, you're probably fine to post it
2. If it's taken of someone and is an informal photo (one they didn't want to be taken) or one that was previously on the deep Web or well hidden (so wasn't easily accessible), there's a case for getting it removed.

Also if they're from Europe and Theymos wants to comply with gdpr then mods will also have to remove it but im not sure on the forums stance with gdpr.

Does posting photographs of a user qualify as doxing under the forum rules? Please clarify the rules regarding this. Thank you.
