Eth is the best coin at this moment, BTC would be like a "digital gold" and Ethereum should be considered as the "actual fiat money"  I think that he should invest more than 40% on other altcoins.

I suggest you must have 30% eth, 30% btc and the rest for potentially altcoin coins. I suggest you have btc and eth as a backup coin if altcoin does not give profit but you still continue to profit from btc and eth. it's my simple investment strategy that I do.

Hi Folks -

I have no crypto holdings but have been thinking for a while about getting in.  I've read just a little and watched the prices fluctuate for a couple months but don't know that much.

From watching what the markets seem to believe in, I am thinking of investing

40% ETH
40% NEO
10% VEN
5% DGD
5% WTC

and using Binance as my exchange to buy.  I am thinking that there may be another dip before there is the next dramatic rise, and I am waiting for that  (or maybe I am just mad at myself that I didn't jump in on Feb 5th, when I had the impulse to).

Any suggestions about coins, diversification, exchange choice, timing?

Also, what I'd really like to do is invest in something like a reliable and trustworthy ETF/mutual fund, where I provide capital and some smart people who live and breathe this stuff 24/7 do the investing and re-balancing.  I've seen a few things that kind of look like a 100% crypto mixed managed fund, but they're all not exactly that, or else they're already closed, or the SEC has made them illegal for now.   Any suggestions with this, too?

Thank you.

Seems like i've seen this EXACT same post here in the forums previously except with a different post title. I know because i believe i've commented on this portfolio before.

Flagging this for reference until i find the other post. Spamming is not tolerated in these forums.

Good day! If you invested on ETH last month then congratulations coz your investment just doubled. Waiting for 1000$ per ETH again. Alts value rise with the rise of the value of BTC so if you bought altcoins last month you've already gained profit.

It seems to me that 50%(25%ETH&25%NEO) of the portfolio can be allocated to strong assets. On other 35-40% risky assets. 10-15% should be in fiat as a reserve.

Yes, if you want an advice, dont buy DGV, it is a waste of time and you are allocating a huge percentage of your portfolio to it.

Put your money in real projects, like Waltonchain, i see that you want to invest in that one anyways.

The same as powerledger, and wepower.

For me you should first get bigger knowledge and try with bounty campaigns for this. But if you really want invest now in something, the best option will be the most popular coins. In my opinion you should try with ethereum, neo or deeponion. These coins are the safest for me

I agree, you missed BTC, furthermore BTC is the thing you need to track the progress of crypto currency. though it may not rise like x10 or x100, but definitely it will give you an edge for tracking when to buy or when to sell.

You can also consider ADA and MONERO in your input plan. They have both good platforms which some speculations said that they are the good investments in this year 2018.

These two altcoins is a good hodling and guaranteed that this are not shitcoins. Monero is also one of the best as it offered low fees with fast transactions.

Seeing your picks from early Febuary 2018 i congratulate you on your picks. You have picked winners and i want to reaffirm that you did well picking Ethereum.
My opinion is that you don't listen to whatever people are saying that you should drop ETH from your portfolio. ETH is the future and ETH is the best investment vehicle. Don't sell just hodl!

I think you should spend 50% for ETH and 50% left for NEO only Smiley. I think these two coins are the best coin in your list.

It's good when you're not going to spend all your money to invest in only one coin but too much is also not good Smiley). I think NEO and ETH are enough for you, ETH is the best altcoin atm and NEO is being supported by China government, it's China ETH and has very good potential in the future Smiley

For first time investment it is best to divide the whole into 50% - strong  40%- medium 10% - risky type of coins.
BTC,ETH, NEO,ONT WAN, ICX are all strong – If I were u would buy WAN and ICX more – more room to grow
Dragon,Zilliqa,Ubiq,EOS,AST,KNC buy them for 40% allocation
10% risky- go for spankchain, MONKEY, and all other staking coins. SOON you too my friend will be on the Moon.

From Binance, I hold the following coins/tokens (biggest to smallest)...
VEN, ICX, NEO, ONT, QTUM, RPX, REQ, WAN

Since I hold them myself, you should know I believe in these coins.  Combined these 8 coins represent 69.29% of my portfolio.  The 1st 4 represents 54.88% Cheesy

First of all, regarding another dump before the next pump, you are indeed correct. There was a sudden pump of shitcoins (coins with small volume and no adoption or use case). When such pumps happen in mid of bear cycle, that shows that distribution is going to end and massacre is going to start. So watch the market for next 7-8 days before making any type of new investment.

Regarding your choice of coinS, I would say instead of 40-40 for ETH and NEO, go for
  • 20 - ETH
  • 20 - BTC
  • 10 - WTC
  • 10 - VEN
  • 20 - NEO
  • 10 - DGD
  • 10 - POWR

Good to see that you have split your investment in to several parts for a safe and secured trading. The coins you have selected is almost good and a potential one, but my advise will be invest 25% of your total investment splitting in the same way you have mentioned. First investment should be always made what you are afford to lose in case you didn't earn profit.

On a first investment you better put 40% on bitcoin and then the rest you can split it to many alt like your list. And also choose old coin with the team still in development like verge coin or feather. Some time coin like that can spike and got pump hard.

Have you heard of Marinecoín?  They have some potential.  I was skeptical at first but have watched and seen that the are indeed real with a real ico currently.  Can’t believe the amount of .MTC. that you can earn ... amazing.  I look for long term value in new ico projects.  Can the chain create something useful to make the project self sustaining?  .MTC. is focused on the iot industry geared toward machine to machine transactions.  I think that will be big soon so can see some real value in the chain.  They have zero fees so many micro transactions can be performed economically for the iot industry.  Check it out for yourself here at their site marineco.ín/ico

Coins you have mentioned could be considered "safe" but I doubt there will be a significant growth as they are too overhyped right now. If the market goes green they will rise, but I would prefer some less market cap coins with products and use cases. Someone mentioned Elixir, it's still a baby but there's a lot of room to grow at a $15M market cap (it was around $80M a month ago), it is riskier but the reward could be bigger too.

I would recommend you to add more coins to the portfolio.

Like 20+20 ETH and NEO and use the the rest for other coins like ELIX and EXP.

NEO and ETH are very good at a reliable angle. In addition you can check 0X and ICON.

Ox and icon can not be compared to Neo and etherium because neo and etherium would be better, of course
So between neo and etherium, we will need to make hard decision. I think investing in both is better.

As far as I can see from your coin choices, you started to learn how markets work and overall psychology. I would love to suggest you to add bit secure one, called monero, as I believe it will never die even after crashes.

May i know why you are assuming it will never die? I am just curious because i was wondering to put some money into Monero.  Roll Eyes

Seems like you invest pretty safely and go for reliable coins. This is definitely a good strategy if you don't want to take losses, but if you want more profits and can handle risk, I would not put 80% of my holdings into two top 10 coins. I'd put a slightly higher percentage on low market coins that you feel will be successful

Good Investigation so far. Assuming you want to put 80% in ETH / NEO (good choice!) you want a "safe" portfolio since these coins are well established. That said, i would consider to rethink about VEN and WTC. Both are pretty new projects (and to my mind at least VeChain is overpriced atm) and still need to prove if they're worth it.

Using Binance will be fine. You may consider to buy ICX instead of VEN.

Timing: Buy now. The massive correction in January is likely not to happen soon again.

You have a really good portfolio for a long-term holding. It depends how much ROI you want to reach.

The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

I recently found one project called Ethereum Meta, it is related to anonymity and untraceable transaction. They have a very interesting project to build the Anonymous E-Market Place.

They are on Pre-ICO stage right now, you can check their website: https://ethermeta.com/
Or even better go through their Bitcointalk thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/future-of-privacy-ethereum-meta-foundation-of-anonymous-e-marketplace-2659058
