OP is asking about fees. yeah if you use SegWit your (current medium fee) would be $2.5 instead of $3. but you are still paying $2.5 for a transaction that should have been nearly free.
As I have learned more and more about Bitcoin, I have come to the conclusion that there should be no such thing as free. Bitcoin is a censorship resistant, decentralized currency without a middleman. Transactions from within the network must always be worth something. Failing to have that fee market will result in less miners and less security in the blockchain.
But there is hope if you really want small fees. The Lightning Network is coming.
Is that it? After all the complaints about high fees and network congestion, that is all you can say? Do you believe in Bitcoin still? Do you want to help make the network become better? Every small thing counts. Use Segwit and tell every Bitcoiner you know to use it too.
