There should be any kind of effect on altcoin price after or before august 1. There might be a slight to massive increase on some altcoins because many might want to consider hedging on altcoins, particularly top coins who are not moving a lot or those with a lot of potential to grow more. There might also be a little decrease on some altcoins after that, because people might consider restocking bitcoin back again after the implementation of changes.On the contrary, I observed that all the alts went down when Bitcoin went down. I was also thinking the same way at first. I presumed that if BTC will be turning red, the alts will be turning green because they will divest their BTC to alts. But I was wrong because when BTC was going down, the rest of the alts we also going though red tide. And when BTC recovered, the alts also followed.

Many altcoins are down at the moment because of uncertainty, which is also a great time to buy for others. Either way it goes - never sell in a loss. Wait another week. If so then no - there's no effect on alts, but a funny occurrence may happen if BCC accelerates in price similar to ETC. But since everyone's got this knowledge its probably a booster for alts rather than a downer

Of course, we can see that bitcoin is affecting the entire market, the value of altcoin is proportional to the value of bitcoin, even altcoin is affected more heavily than bitcoin. I bet that altcoin will cut heavily when bitcoin is split.

There would be an effect depending on the standing or situation of bitcoin. If bitcoin would decrease its price then people might withdrawn their altcoin to convert it on bitcoin since the price is cheap and this thing would really happen because people see that this is an opportunity on buying cheaper coins which they know that bitcoin will eventually rise up later on. There would be some effect on altcoin price after august 1 because of segwit2x, particularly we will see another bloodbath or many altcoins dumping at once after the implementation of changes and I don't think that it will be a good idea to even hedge in altcoins by that time. There will be some unaffected coins by the upcoming fork but the question is what particular coin will it be? The best shot to figure it out is to avoid investing onto top 10 coins, they will probably follow the same track to where btc is heading after the said date.
People talking about top 10 coins , but this might be mistaken, those in between under 100 and 10 on the list are maybe even better opportunities, and should be our main place for investments. BTC SegWIt had already major impact on alts in the second quarter of this year, what do you need more?

I`m thinking you`re right. When the value of BTC splits, the value of alts compared to BTC will increase.

If bitcoin rises well above $3000 mark, people might start selling their alts to jump on the train.. that's the scenario I'm hoping for, to get some cheap alts that is

So it is hard to say that segwit will not effect on altcoins. That is why bearish trend is ongoing for all altcoins.
Depending on how many people hold an altcoin bag at least they should think of the value of altcoin itself if the bitcoin price falls or vice versa, I think it could happen

Based on my understanding bitcoin price drops there should be a fall in altcoin also may be if bitcoin is not tradable for a week then there is no much transaction on altcoin so there is chances of falling altcoin price also.

Theres no certain but I think somehow it has an effect on the altcoin price. With the movement of the price which increase and decrease so theres a fluctuatuon happen always. If bitcoin price increase altcoins price increase also.

Can not be ascertained. Currently all movements are very unpredictable. Since the beginning of January 2017 BTC continues to increase, and altcoin always follow it. If BTC rises, Altcoin also rises and vice versa. Very much awaited how the game after segwit.
