Well , a moderator (or was it only Theymos) can see complete history of the post , including deletes and edits.

Only theymos can see the complete history, mods aren't able to see deletes or edits.

Keep it dense, yeah?
Self-moderated threads should always be treated with caution by those posting responses. Of course there is much more significance in sub-forums where the general topic is one based around agreements and understanding.

Under the existing implementation users will simply have to make a decision on whether to avoid the topic. You definitely couldn't expect a moderator to remove it.

Glad so many people agree I really do think it should be a feature. its very possible that someone would do this and no doubt probably has. I don't think Theymos would be pleased if he had to do this every single time it happend. it might not be a problem as of now but it could become a major problem in the future.

That can be used to confirm it if necessary , if you have posted this due to a problem you recently came up across.

But in the long term , I think this rule would help.

In Collateral I Trust.
I agree, self moderated lending threads are a bad call.

Although the OP can be restored, I would have to agree with you: they are a bad call.

I suggest to make lending section works like auction section (can't modify or delete your posts).

I don't think that's his point though. His problem isn't that he's worried he might be moderated but that people can edit or delete information relevant or vital to the details of a loan which could cause trouble and/or confusion. "I agree to pay 10% interest back by to xxx" to "I want an interest free loan payable whenever" etc or just delete details entirely.

Normally people give terms and specify the requirements of the deal. so it should be treated like the auction sub forum. shouldn't be able to edit or delete other peoples posts. Otherwise someone could be looking for a loan and agree in public on that thread with another person. Yet could delete all the posts and state they never agreed such terms.

I think they shouldn;'t be allowed to prevent this from happening.
