Saudi Arabia Calls Chapel Hill Killings A “Terrorist” Attack…

Typical ignorance. I do mention how Americans misunderstand the Muslim world a lot. That should not imply that your average villager in the Mid East is much better. There are all manor of conspiracy theories and crackpot ideas on the street. My favorites are about the pope. He is always being placed in Syria, secretly fighting for the Vatican/CIA. The pope? lol

I don't think this is ignorance. They are just trying to use it to deflect some attention from the action of their "brothers".
Brothers? You have a lot to learn about the middle east. I spend a lot of time there and DASCH s absolutely hated in the mid-east. Thinking they have much in common with the Jihadists is like saying "Oh, your an American. Then you must be a cowboy!".

All of these tragedies are being used for political gain. Why must we continue to try to link a tragedy to a terrorist organization?

Obama does this and the result is more dead innocent people in foreign countries.

Saudi Arabia Calls Chapel Hill Killings A “Terrorist” Attack…

Saudi Arabia on Sunday condemned the killing in North Carolina of three American Muslim college students as a “heinous terrorist” act, and called for an end to incitement against Muslims.

The statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency also condemned as a “terrorist” act the recent attacks that killed two people in Denmark, one at a panel discussion that included an artist who caricatured the Prophet Muhammad and the other outside a synagogue.

In neighboring Qatar, several thousand people held a march Sunday in the capital Doha in solidarity with the families of the North Carolina victims. The marchers appealed for protection against hate crimes for the tens of thousands of young Arabs studying in the United States on scholarships funded by the energy-rich governments of the Gulf.

Deah Barakat, 23; his wife, Yusor Abu-Salha, 21; and her sister, Razan Abu-Salha, 19, were killed on Tuesday by their neighbor Craig Hicks, 46, an avowed atheist who was a vocal critic of all religions. Family members say all three were shot in the head at the newlywed couple’s home, though police aren’t saying exactly how the three victims died.

Sunni Islam’s Top Body Al-Azhar Says Chapel Hill Killings Result Of “Racism And Islamophobia”…

Al-Azhar, the centre of Islamic learning in Egypt, on Thursday condemned the killings of three young Muslims by a gunman in the United States as a “terrorist and racist” act.

A man who had posted anti-religious messages on Facebook and quarrelled with neighbours has been charged with the shootings.

Muslim activists in the United States and around the world have demanded authorities investigate a possible motive of religious hatred. Police said on Wednesday the case involved a dispute over parking and possibly a hate crime.

Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, a full-time paralegal student from Chapel Hill, was charged with first-degree murder in Tuesday’s killings two miles (three km) from the University of North Carolina campus.

However, the day after the attack, the pre-eminent institute of Islamic learning in the Sunni Muslim world, al-Azhar, described the murders as a “cowardly terrorist act.”

[...]
Al-Azhar, which is based in Cairo, said it was deeply concerned that the killings appeared to have been prompted by “racism and Islamophobia.”

Similarly, the 57-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the world’s largest bloc of Muslim countries, said the murders heightened international concerns about “rising anti-Muslim sentiments and Islamophobic acts” in the United States.

Palestinian Government Demands Role In Investigation Of The Three Students Shot Over A Parking Place In Chapel Hill

The Palestinian government called the murder of three young Muslims in North Carolina ‘terrorist’ killings and asked to be included in the US investigation in a statement Saturday.

Police charged Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, with shooting Deah Barakat, 23, his wife Yusor Abu-Salha, 21, and her sister Razan Abu-Salha, 19, in Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

Local authorities said they believe the killings followed a dispute over parking at the condominium complex where the four were neighbors, but Justice Department and FBI officials have launched an investigation into whether hate crime charges or other federal violations are warranted.

Calling Hicks ‘an American extremist and hateful racist,’ the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said the shootings were indicative of rising anti-Muslim discrimination in the United States.

‘We consider it a serious indication of the growth of racism and religious extremism which is a direct threat to the lives of hundreds of thousands of American citizens who follow the Islamic faith,’ said the ministry in a statement.

The statement made a request for ‘a serious investigation and the involvement of Palestinian investigators to clarify the circumstances of these assassinations and premeditated murders.’

Chapel Hill Shooter Had Earlier Parking Disputes With The Three Students, Described Himself To Neighbors As “Gun Toting” Atheist…

Media still attempting to spin him as a Right Winger.

The North Carolina man accused of killing three Muslims in a dispute over parking spaces had earlier run-ins with his neighbors, sometimes while wearing a handgun on his hip.

Police were still trying to determine whether religious hatred played any role in the shootings, which shocked the bucolic college town of Chapel Hill and left many residents grappling to make sense of the crime.

Charged with three counts of first-degree murder is Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, who has described himself as a “gun toting” atheist. Neighbors said Wednesday that he always seemed angry and confrontational. His ex-wife said he was obsessed with the shooting-rampage movie “Falling Down” and showed “no compassion at all” for other people.

His current wife, Karen Hicks, said that her husband “champions the rights of others” and that the killings “had nothing do with religion or the victims’ faith.” She then issued another brief statement through her lawyer, saying she’s divorcing him.[…]

Chapel Hill Police asked the FBI for help in their probe, and Ripley Rand, the U.S. attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina, said his office was monitoring the investigation. But Rand said the crime “appears at this point to have been an isolated incident.”[…]

“This man was frustrated day in and day out about not being able to park where he wanted to,” said Karen Hicks’ attorney, Robert Maitland.

The killings were “related to long-standing parking disputes my husband had with various neighbors regardless of their race, religion or creed,” Karen Hicks said.

Police have not said how Hicks got inside the condominium, but on Wednesday afternoon there were no visible signs of damage to the couple’s door, which was affixed with orange stickers warning of biohazardous material inside. A wooden placard bearing Arabic script that translates to “Thanks to God” hung over their doorbell.

A woman who lives near the scene described Hicks as short-tempered.

“Anytime that I saw him or saw interaction with him or friends or anyone in the parking lot or myself, he was angry,” Samantha Maness said of Hicks. “He was very angry, anytime I saw him.”

Hicks’ ex-wife, Cynthia Hurley, said that before they divorced about 17 years ago, his favorite movie was “Falling Down,” the 1993 Michael Douglas film about a divorced unemployed engineer who goes on a shooting rampage.

Wow, that is really sad. Can't believe things like these happening

Mass shootings are quite common in the US.

I guess the lack of coverage by major news outlets it's because the victims are the wrong "color"...

Yeah, not surprised, it really is only in the U.S that people get so fucking hung up on the colour of someone's skin so publicly, in fact one trend I've noticed when it comes to any shooting in America, it's not about whether or not the person was getting shot while unarmed or whether the person shooting was a cop or not. It's over what ethnicity they were or whether they're a man or a woman and in the end the whole thing devolves into an argument about that which is why nobody over there gets anything done about it.

Edit: Now the argument is going to be over whether the guy was an Athiest or not.

Let's not get off track. I don't know what this violent disturbed guy thinks. But all the athiests I know arrived at their decision because of science and not based on their delusional hatred. Just as most Christians and Muslims I know did not start believing so that they could wage a holly war on their neighbors.
It seems to me that the guy is just stupid. We had a crazy killer here in Wisconsin who shot dead a bunch of Indians because he thought they were Middle Easterners. That is how little he knew about what he was doing.

A review of the Facebook page of the man charged in these murders, Craig Hicks, shows a consistent themes of anti-religion and progressive causes. Included in his many Facebook “likes” are the Huffington Post, Rachel Maddow, the Southern Poverty Law Center, Freedom from Religion Foundation, Bill Nye “The Science Guy,” Neil deGrasse Tyson, Gay Marriage groups, and a host of anti-conservative/Tea Party pages.

Well, I wasn't considering them at first because their murder wasn't a function of their atheism, it was just a coincidence that they were murderous tyrants and atheists. Their murderous reigns were primarily political in nature aimed at the subjugation of political classes or parties that would threaten their political power. That is the opposite of this Chapel Hill situation (OSTENSIBLY) where the indication is he shot Muslims for religious reasons. That's the slant all the your picture posts are taking, as to whether or not that bears out, time will tell. It's not like the media's knee-jerk reaction has ever been wrong before, right?

Marxist–Leninist atheism (Russian: Mapкcиcтcкo-лeнинcкий aтeизм) is a part of the wider Marxist–Leninist philosophy (the type of Marxist philosophy found in the Soviet Union), which rejects religion and advocates a materialist understanding of nature. Marxism–Leninism holds that religion is the opium of the people, in the sense of promoting passive acceptance of suffering on Earth in the hope of eternal reward. Therefore, Marxism–Leninism advocates the abolition of religion and the acceptance of atheism. Marxist–Leninist atheism has its roots in the philosophy of Ludwig Feuerbach, G.W.F. Hegel, Karl Marx, and Vladimir Lenin.

Some non-Soviet Marxists opposed this antireligious stance, and in certain forms of Marxist thinking, such as the liberation theology movements in Latin America among others, Marxist–Leninist atheism was rejected entirely.

A 46-year-old Chapel Hill man has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder after three college students were shot and killed Tuesday evening at a condominium complex on Summerwalk Circle in Chapel Hill, authorities said.

Craig Stephen Hicks turned himself in to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office in Pittsboro following the shooting, which happened in the Finley Forest complex off Barbee Chapel Road shortly after 5 p.m.

Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, of Chapel Hill, Yusor Mohammad, 21, of Chapel Hill, and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, of Raleigh, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

All three victims were shot in the head, sources said.

The three victims were Muslim, and Hicks is not, according to posts about atheism on his Facebook page. In thousands of posts on social media, many have now questioned whether the victims' Islamic faith was a factor in the shooting.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation's largest civil advocacy group for Muslims, called on law enforcement officials Wednesday to address speculation about a motive for the killings.

Chapel Hill shooting: Craig Stephen Hicks condemned all religions on Facebook prior to 'Muslim mass-murder' arrest

As tributes poured in for the young family, a Facebook page in Hicks’ name showed that he read paralegal studies at Durham Technical Community College and described himself as a supporter of “Atheists for Equality”.

A regular social media user, his last three posts were a cute dog video about the Pavlov effect, a viral advert for Air New Zealand involving mountain bikes, and a picture from United Atheists of America asking “why radical Christians and radical Muslims are so opposed to each others’ influence when they agree about so many ideological issues”.

TV programmes liked by Hicks include The Atheist Experience, Criminal Minds and Friends, while he describes himself as a fan of Thomas Paine’s The Age of Reason and Richard Dawkins’ The God Delusion.
