I prefer to trade altcoin with BTC pair because BTC has stronger fundamental and by increase the amount of BTC in the long term we can make alot of money. Also many exchange offer more pair BTC/altcoin than ethereum.

I think selling altcoin only for trading ethereum or bitcoin does not seem like a good move to save and own assets in altcoin form because altcoin that has a very good project and can be useful for people can make altcoin prices very expensive and altcoin price movements are very fast because the price is still very cheap.

Hi - I'm new to cryptocurrency trading and need advice whether to trade on ETH/ALT(Crypto) or BTC/ALT(Crypto) currency pairs.

I understand the whole market is tied to Satoshi/BTC ratio and not fiat currency (expt Tether) and this is where I was making BIG mistakes when trading i.e sometimes keeping the BTC or ETH was far more valuable than converting to an Alt coin in the first place.

ETH seems more stable, my concern being that when I sell the crypto into either BTC or ETH then the value of the BTC/ETH changes and if I dont quickly buy something else then any profit diminishes. What do most people use ?

What is the ideal "store" for profit in these markets since you cannot convert to fiat currency without the hurdles of transfer costs ?

I think that at this point you can sell the BTC, you can see that the bitcoin price is constantly decreasing and if the firm stands at $ 7200- $ 7500 will be able to return to the $ 8800 level if the 7200 mark $ will not fall to $ 6800 level. Therefore, I believe you should leave the altcoin to BTC because the price of bitcoin can increase is very high.

I think that at this point you should only trade bitcoin, you can see that the price of altcoin in the past few days is constantly decreasing, so I believe that at this point you should only invest in bitcoin . Bitcoin prices are showing signs of uptrend very clearly and may return to the $ 10000 level in the medium term, now bitcoin price is at $ 8100 and you can buy at this time.

If you trade every day then I suggest to replace with Bitcoin and then you trade in Bittrex, Binance and Kucoin.

If you trade for long term choose Ethereum, because Ethereum coins are much in interest by every ICO Investor.
And Ethereum is often used as a GAS in transactions on its network.

If you sell altcoins to buy ETh or BTC, then I think it is better to buy BTC, because BTC will be a coin that can help you earn more than other coins, once the BTC increases to 1%, the value increases many times more than other coins.

I highly prefer that you should stop trading today and focus on investing if you have a decent amount of capital, investing on bitcoins will bring you a huge amount of wealth because the market prices today are dumping and bitcoins has the best potential above all cryptocurrency in the market.

I highly recommend to hold your bitcoin and choose Ethereum to trade and sell besides ethereum has a good status in the market today. However ethereum is also a lot better to sell or even to hold it, It was all depend upon your preferences on what you're going to do with your coin but I highly recommended to hold bitcoin than other.

It's not a mandatory issue that you have to sell your Altcoin and convert into Ethereum or Bitcoin. But it could be safer than holding any cryptocurrency because no one ever knows the actual fact and what will happen towards that currency. that's why Holding Bitcoin could be the safest way for the future purpose. I have a strong believe that Bitcoin will have a bright future and it will dominate in the future monetary world. On the other hand, Ethereum could be also a safe investment because most of the ICO and coming based on the Etherum so Bitcoin and Ethereum would be fruitful for the future purpose.

I use trading pair BTC/Altcoin only for short trading because when BTC soar all altcoin can be drop, and for swing trading i prefer to chooce trading pair crypto vs fiat or USDT. I also locked some profit in to fiat to avoid loss when all crypto drop cause bad news.

I believe that at this time you should sell altcoin and transfer to bitcoin to reduce the risk, you can see that bitcoin girls in the past days are constantly fluctuating and very difficult, so to Being able to trade successfully at this point is very difficult. The market is bearish in the long run so you have to always have a specific trading plan and follow them to be able to profit safely.

I will suggest you you to choose BTC/ETH pair.It will help at the critical situation. If you want to get money at the dip,you can use the ETH and hold the bitcoin for future. The price variation in Ethereum, litecoin is negligible one compared to bitcoin.

You can use the 3rd option of alt to usdt( not available for most coins yet). But to choose between ETH and BTC i prefer BTC as my ultimate goal is to increase the btc value of my portfolio and i think kost of the people trade altcoins for this only.
ETH though being stable still it loses its satoshi value from time to time so you have to decide according to your preference.

For making profit anything is right you can make any decision like if you had a profit then you can do so anyways is always right then a profitable is the right thing to do but don't make any mistakes before selling because if you had any mistakes then it may able to give some Loses for us.

I think that at this point you should move on bitcoin and increase your bitcoin, you can see that the market has been fluctuating continuously over the past few days and bitcoin prices are constantly falling. This is an opportunity for us to get bitcoin at a low price and to increase our bitcoin, I believe the market can recover very quickly.

Yes,I do this.Because,in every project or ICO in this forum is accept Btc or Eth or both to sell their altcoins. If you want to buy or sell any altcoins, you have to convert this into Eth or Btc.Btc or Eth or both are accepted in all sectors where crypto is accepted. For trading, you need to have Eth or Btc or both.

Bitcoin only for invest but ethereum is more fit for trade, I already try it and the profit is mine. For trade purposes, ethereum is profitable because at this moment the price still low and have significant price moving, mostly will create 2 top/ bottom before change position again. Try make profit with ethereum using MA and martiangle money management with short time period ( scalping ), it will change your income.

BTC Price is unpredictable and unstable; if you are trading Bitcoin for double your profits is good. Also, Holding ETH is good. But if you Hold ETH, you will be getting your Fiat amount increased when you hold ETH, and you should know when you want to sell them.
If you hold Altcoin, say the price of altcoins is 0.5$ and you hold 100 coins the price of total coins would be $50 (ETH). When the price of the Altcoin reaches to 1$ and you hold $100 (ETH) we can say that your ETH will be doubled if the price of ETH continued to be same or increase.
Don't decide by anyone's views. You need to experience it and decide what is better for you.

According to what you say both have the same risk and you also say that eth is more stable so i suggest it to exchange it to ETH, if I it depends on what altcoin only have altcoin/BTC or not, I trade using both. Some say that transactions using btc is more expensive because we know that bitcoin has a high price and for the fee exchange it looks huge but in my opinion it is not too far with eth.

Mistake you made is cause you don`t have a stash of btc, eth and some other coins. First you work on your stash, only later you start to trade. Same mistake I made two years ago when I started with trading, I lost a lot of bitcoins, in that time not big money. More then a year I don`t trade daily, I`m a mid term trader, for profit I wait months and some coins I keep longer. My mistakes in beginning were cause of cutting losses, stop losses, I don`t do that anymore. If you got in some coin keep it until price rise and you take profit, in bull market you can`t lose if you wait long enough.

Bitcoin and ethereum are the very best cryptocurrency at this time because they were on the top ranks in the market. But if I were you, I will choose the Usd/alts because usd price is not swinging so so that we can easily determined how much money that we earned.
Yeah, bitcoin and ethereum are the top cryptocurrencies in the market. Therefore, it is very important to be exchanging your altcoins with either or even both. For me, I basically exchange my coins with ethereum because it is currently more profitable than bitcoin in the market.

yes, same with you. ETH is more stable than BTC. but, some of the exchange do not provides the exchange altcoin to ETH. the choice in your hands.

I don’t agree with you on this. Believe me you are going with some misconception. ETH is not more stable than bitcoins. And if you are saying this, don’t you think then ETH is not performing well if it is stable. Because all the crypto currencies are only getting higher because of this non stable nature. So if one coin is being more stable than other that must be performing worse than other one.

I think now better will be to hold BTC. And wait when ETH will cost 0.02-0.03 btc and buy it after that. Its my strategy

why btc only? etherium is also good to hold and invest due to the fact that it is more stable and still increasing overtime, sooner or later eth can possibly reach on what bitcoin has achieved because eth is indeed a good coin with lots of potential to succeed in the near future. you dont have to wait for eth to go down on that specific amount because eth is verry cheap and afordable for all the time , even if you buy it in one whole you can still be able to afford it unlike to bitcoin that is pretty expensive right now.
Ethereum is more stable than Bitcoin, no doubt and it is a very good point but for a trader or investor who wants to make good amount of profits in a short period of time Ethereum is not an option. Bitcoin serves the purpose in a much better way.

However I support diversification more than investing in only one asset. This increases the number of sources and decreases the chances of loss.

Bitcoin and etherium is known as a good coins due to its potential of increasing its value as the time pass by. The etherium performance in the market is very good due to its stable price and increasing of value overtime. About the bitcoin, the value is not stable and it seems that the dropping of value is not yet finished but that doesn't mean that bitcoin is not worth trusting for because in my perceptions, it is just the new challenge that bitcoin is facing right now just like a hardfork which has been solved. Be optimistic.

Agreed with you.both currency is good.but best Technic is trading with USD.it is safe and no problem for dumping bitcoin and eth.
In my point of view, more important is skill of trading a person possesses. Trading is not very easy again specially it comes to Bitcoin trading, one must be show a lot of care as Bitcoin is very expensive asset of the present time. If there will be any sort of negligence it can cause the holder a big loss. Also, one can get the biggest profit from none other crypto currency than Bitcoin.

USD or USDT? I think it is USDT yes it's a good way to trade especially when the BTC and ETH price is high. But you can not buy all altcoins with this coin only a few reputed coins can buy. But BTC/ALT you can buy all coins it's allowed at all exchanging sites.

That was in my mind too i think it is USDT. Both side are good way to trade, these altcoins and bitcoin are they fluctuated both even though ethereum not much increase but atleast it will pump. This is the time you buy altcoin or just do trading. For me i'd rather hold my coins than to sell my altcoins just wait for a little moment until the altcoin you've choose will pump up.Because some exchange site now are very high fees you need to wait to become lower.

If you are a newbie to crypto trading then it is better to start with the bitcoin for trading, you can do either bitcoin to altcoin or bitcoin to fiat but make sure you learned the basics of trading before doing anything.Eth price is very stable when compared to other coins so it is better for long term holding than trading.Everything has transaction fee so you need to choose a wallet with customized fee structure to reduce the fee while sending coins.

I think people are more confident in bitcoin than with ETH even though the price is more stable because bitcoin can be said to play the parent of Altcoins. and keep hold of the bitcoin you have I do not think it will make you lose profit.

I think depend the situation, meaning is what do you need, bitcoin or eth? Most people will give suggestion bitcoin because have high rate but if you decides not for saving ( trade again ), eth is the solution. But you have know when eth have low price ( if decides to trade again ) because the price can/ will up and we can get more profit. For your question, I believe bitcoin is the best option.

Trade in altcoyinami inside the day. So you will constantly increase your deposit in bitcoins and do not lose bitcoins at sharp jumps (if the price of altcoin falls, then sell it in the microminus). The essence of such a trade is the lion's share of time in bitcoin.

For me it really doesn’t matter because both Ethereum and Bitcoin are fluctuating but Ethereum is more stable than Bitcoin as of its current price. So in my opinion I don’t think you really need to sell your altcoins for as long as you don’t need the money yet and just hold on to them for some time until it reaches an amount you are targetting on.

Imo BTC will continue to rise if I were you i'll trade my alts to those. Go trade your alts to ETH you sound like you really want to but at the same time profit. One guy here already advised you to use it. The only coin that looks stable when BTC starts to dip or crash is tether so better to store your profits on tether.

its actually the same its depends what you think is more profitable some times the price pair is not the same price in BTC and ETh so if you want to buy of course you just need to choose what is cheaper .

During the last correction the market was not as much dependend to the BTC as it was earlier. Still, keeping the assets in BTC and ETH is a better decision for me. I do vice versa: convert alts into ETH.

Personally I use btc where possible and that's because I believe bitcoin will increase more so than ethereum, if this changes I will transition to ethereum. The reason for this is that I aim to trade and grow my bitcoin amount. I do not concern myself with dollar amounts in the short run. Longer term if btc value goes up and I have grown my bitcoin then I have done well.

I also like you, I trade on ETH / ALT (Crypto)
However the way I count will be based on the amount of ETH that I profit.
As ETH as well as BTC are all crypto and it will be very difficult to stabilize at a certain price.
I will usually calculate more BTC / ALT, BTC / ETH to be able to optimize my ETH profit.

I wouldn't trade altcoins to ETH or BTC actually. I'd rather keep altcoins or trade them to another altcoins that are in top-20 altcoins list. Bitcoin costs too much to invest in it. It's growth rate is less than altcoin's. Ethereum is good crypto, but also grows not that fast.

Ethereum might be more stable than bitcoin, but you should know that bitcoin will always be the top notch crypto, so there is no way to ethereum to be better than bitcoin, doesnt matter what.

And yes, it is more stable, but bitcoin tends to increase much more than ethereum.

in my opinion rightnow , trading to eth is more profitable , because eth platform many used on token ,  a result of that Eth price is going up time by time  and when its up 1k$  and it more felt than btc up 2-3k $

just correct me if im wrong
Ethereum goes perfect time when the other altcoins are dumps and even bitcoin value dumped in the chart. Since I am mining my profit also increased in threshold value in the dashboard payment converts in USD.
However we will find the bitcoin cost increases in future so you will find the perfect bump and your profit increase after sometime

As a piece of advice (note: this is my own technical analysis). Since theres an another approaching BTC dump coming. I would like to recommend to sell your BTC to USDT.  BTC might dump to 10k downto 8k. Make sure to buy the dip.  During the dump all alts will crash its price including its USD value. So better to jump to USDT now to save your current BTC value.

Once the dump is done. Buy the dip with BTC. Wait for BTC to fly. Its up to you if you want to Buy BTC or Alts because both of them will go up.

Both of them are great, they have their own advantage and disadvantage.
Lately we could see Bitcoin showed us its worth by moving to this level easily,
in other words the 'ideal' way to value our portfolio should be Bitcoin instead Ethereum.
but in my opinion it is not a wise move because lately Bitcoin already made its move.
which mean it should take another decline to stabilize itself before making its move again in the future.
Ethereum is a good choice for you to store it for a short time,
because it is a bit 'stable' compared to Bitcoin itself.
but it is not a good choice to store it for a long time,Bitcoin will always make its history in the future.

in brief,
Bitcoin is an ideal way to store it for a while when Ethereum is a wise way to store it at this moment.

I think now if we converting to etherium is better. Just my opinion.
Why? Because etherium is more stable like you said and the value is not so high like bitcoin and it can make its price double.

Well, its depending what you prefer. Use eth and bitcoin are the same reason that is to get more benefit.
Anyway, i like to use fiat trading instead of etherium and bitcoin. I have fiat choice in local exchange.

There is trouble abrewing
it depends on your views about bitcoin and also about ethereum.
sometimes (right or wrong) people have different views about these coins.

i consider ethereum to be a very bad coin which should not even be worth this high. something less than $10 is what i would value for it. but you can see it is higher and even rises sometimes.

my choice is obviously bitcoin for trading and i keep the profit in bitcoin because i believe in the future of bitcoin even though at times things may not look as well.

Bitcoin and ethereum are the very best cryptocurrency at this time because they were on the top ranks in the market. But if I were you, I will choose the Usd/alts because usd price is not swinging so so that we can easily determined how much money that we earned.

my option is buy ether because next year will bumping for many reasons "POS, fast, low fee".
also if you divided it into 30% for both bitcoin and ether and result for top 10 altcoin will be better.

You can choose any of them because the output is going to be same after all. You will always see the rates of ALT equal to BTC whether it’s in ETH or against any other alt too. Also if you looking forward to easy fiat conversion then you have BTC only as the best available option via your local wallet. So why not move straight into BTC.

If you go via ETH then you will have extra fees for converting from ALT to ETH then from ETH to BTC again. Which kind of long way to go. That’s what I think about the pairs.
