Using escrow should cover any doubt that buyers have. It would also be useful to post time stamped pictures of the items that you are selling to prove that you actually have the items in hand.
When selling to trusted members you're ultimately increasing the trust on your end (in terms of having a reputable buyer). That's not necessarily needed as the Escrow covers your end too so you could accept orders from new-member buyers too (although that's at your discretion).
In terms of trust, anyone can give it as long as it is well founded. Following the transactions you make, buyers can leave you trust detailing the transaction as well as total amount risked etc.

Cheers for your input AT101ET.

I was thinking that I could provide tracking numbers for the escrow and buyer to enter into the delivery website to track the order, my only concern is that, how do you prevent people from lying about what they received? I guess you can't really, which is why I want to deal with more trusted users.

I just signed up with Bitrated.com, do you know if that is one of the more popular sites in regards to reputation/trust? Ideally I would just use the most popular trust based site from the beginning so I have a catalogue of trades marked on that one site.

It is really cool to see so many escrow available in the bitcoin market, and some free at that, but I guess in some cases you get what you pay for Wink

Hi there folks!

I am interested in selling some things to get some BTC, I am aware that you have to be incredibly careful of scammers here (and anywhere online really) and I am also aware that my account is brand new, so that may effect trust in selling something, therefore I wish to take these steps and any other potential advise given in this thread, to help make a safe trading environment.

My question is this, would people be willing to do business with me, as a new account and new seller IF I provide these conditions:

1) Escrow must be used, for example I have a $500 item I wish to sell, me and buyer both agree to use highly trusted popular escrow that charges very low fee and is professional, I ship item with specific conditions, and buyers money is released once item has been received, that way all of the risk is on me as the new seller.

2) I only sell to more trusted buyers that have been around a while, since I am using escrow to protect the buyer, I don't want to sell to brand new account as they could lie about not receiving item and scam.

So with those things in mind, and the clients money safe in popular trusted escrow of our agreed choice, are there any other major things I should be aware of for not getting the sale as a new person using escrow? It is quite scary that I could be scammed, as the risk is only on me with the escrow and conditions that I would allow for escrow, but I guess that is the nature of being a new seller!

Also, who gives out the trust ratings? Is it possible for me to gain a trust rating for each verified sale I do? (for example items with a high value such as $500 items and not just selling low $ item to new accounts, but more experienced members only.)

Thanks for any information.
