I am thinking about writing and publicly posting a trading bot (with source code), just to help new traders get started with writing their own scripts and accept donations of course Smiley.  Is there a particular language people would prefer I write it in?  I currently have some form of it in C# and Python.  But I could port it to Java, C++, or something else?

It a good idea to publicly posting a code source of trading bot but if you do that i think it's you language you use is friendly user and anyone want it's they understand it. Open source is good to be use because any one can access on it and many available language on it. But it is depend on you and the user compatibility.

In Telegram there is a nice BOT called BTC Banker which helps you to buy or sell Bitcoin for fiat currency.

I am not a total newbie in programming, but I have never programmed things in bitcoins. I am intersted in finding out more about programming bitcoin related things, and such open source robot would be great for me and all others that want to be developers.

Can anyone finaly explain me whats the point of using trading bots (especially in crypto)? Cryptocurrencies react on different events very strongly and it is hard to predict anything for bitcoin and it even seems impossible for 99% of the altcoins

Real programmers write their trading bots in Malbolge.  Open source or otherwise.

Here's "Hello world!" in Malbolge:

('&%:9]!~}|z2Vxwv-,POqponl$Hjig%eB@@>}= `CB]V?Tx

Think you're up to the challenge?  If not, may I recommend LOLCODE?

I'm torn between offering to buy a bot, or writing one in the only language I know.... Autohotkey

please dont use these bots if your looking at this thread.. the way they work is having a whole bunch of noobs using the bot in its standard form while the bot maker is cashing in by using a bot that exploits the trading method of the released bot..

"If I made a lot of money on a bot, eventually I'd release it once I feel I made enough from it."
That reasoning is wrong and dangerous, based on that statement I assume (but hope to be wrong) that you will not produce a winning robot.

Also, to produce a robot that buy an sell through an API is not the same at all as creating a profitable strategy. Cf. building a taxi vs. driving it. (And on that analogy: I don't think anyone expects to get the taxi for free...)

It depends how much further profit is worth in comparison to the interest in seeing other people's opinion etc.

I'm rewriting my bot in C from python. It's 150 lines so far and I've only implemented a tiny part of the python script in C. It takes about 10 times more code but I like C.

Why bother releasing it? you are just hurting your profits by doing that...

Someone should make an open source trading bot. Maybe I should do this.

After we have thousands of these running the charts on bitcoincharts.com will look just like the Wall Street charts! Goings up and down every few seconds!

The third one it sounds like he will be running the algo on his computer and you have to give him your money... That sounds like a terrible idea.  You might as well just kiss it goodbye xD.

thanks for the related topics.  Since python is already available and I am not that well versed with it, I will see what I can do to help out potential .Net traders with C#.
