Just a friendly advice from a knower in the sector, the rakia is bad quality if it has whitened color (that means its mixed with water) from transparent to yellow/orange is goood, also if you shake it and makes lots of tiny bubbles is another good sign.

In most cases home made Bulgarian rakia is better than many famouse drinks. I highly recommend to try it.  Grin

Bulgarian rakija
Bulgaria cites an old piece of pottery from the 14th century in which the word rakinja is inscribed. The country has taken measures to declare the drink as a national drink in the European Union to allow lower excise duty domestically but has yet yielded no concrete results.

Serving
In Bulgaria and Macedonia, rakia is generally served with shopska salad, milk salad, pickled vegetables (turshiya) or other salads, which form the first course of the meal. Muskatova rakia is made from Muscat grapes, while the preparation method of dzhibrova rakia is the same as for Italian Grappa.

Another popular way of serving is "cooked" (Croatian: kuhana, Serbian: kuvana or grejana, Bulgarian: гpeянa (grejana), Macedonian: гpeeнa or тoплa) rakia (also called Šumadija tea in Serbia), which is heated and sweetened with honey or sugar, with added spices. Heated in large kettles, it is often offered to visitors to various open-air festivities, especially in winter. It is similar to mulled wine, as weaker brands of rakia are used (or stronger ones diluted with water).

Pretty strong alcoholic beverage made with generaly apples but it can be made with basically any fruit. Usually a good rakia has between 54º-59º also the term i prefer for it is Tuica or Palinka/Palincă. The good tuica is homemade (they trying to make it illegal but no luck is tradition) i would never buy it if its of any brand home made rulez. Also you wont need more than 2 liters for a whole party and all get fucked up Cheesy.

I seem to remember a raspberry based one that was especially good.

Oh yeah thats in fact made like two different drinks but mixed togheter. You may find light visinja/visinata afinata etc. but its made stronger with good tuica.

My girlfriend is Bulgarian, she often brings back bottles of Rakia when she visits her friends there. This shit is seriously strong, I reckon the stuff she gets is around 60% ABV. It's good stuff, not the smoothest spirit in the world but very potent and fruity - It tastes similar to Grappa. I seem to remember a raspberry based one that was especially good.

Good luck with your sales mate, I would buy some off you if I couldn't get it already!!  Wink

60% ABV is too much for commercial packaging - maybe it is from some private distillery ? If it is commercial packaging tell us which brand it is.  Smiley

The one's I've tried were all home-made by Bulgarians in various villages, so I'm just guessing at the alcohol content. But I'm familiar with the taste of strong spirits  Grin

Hello all,
This threat is only for 18+ years old.
I am selling Bulgarian Rakia for BTC which is one of the most famous drinks on the Balkans.
I will update you soon with pictures and pricing, but if you are interested you can also PM me.
The Rakia is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks in Eastern Europe and not everyone is capable to drink it, I mean that it is something like the ghost pepper of the chilli peppers Smiley
BRegards,

Gondel
