I've noticed this too. Github has been banning the abused edu email sites. With that said, I think OP's price is slightly justified, but I think it could be a bit cheaper...
Github student is very useful, but I'm not sure if it's worth the potential ban and 10-12$

$10 is high instead a $1 .edu account will get you a github student pack 
Some EDU account does not work on GitHub student pack but the price is still high, this price should be $5 since there are many methods like this that leaked on the internet.I've noticed this too. Hello, 95% of Edu mails on this forum don't work for github, also github keeps blocking most abused institutions.So u can't get it easily, I also sell edu mails, but github mails are special, you can check out from the forum!

Yea, I received a vouch copy from OP, he asked if I will like a new account or use my current account, I pondered for a while and gave him my existing account, within 10 minutes, he returned my account with the student pack activated and my account now have access to lot of discount, I have tried namecheap-github worked well... He also told me to change my password so I will be safe...
Overall, excellent service will rate 10/10..
